In 1994, Lindsey Graham, then a 39-year-old South Carolina legislator, ran for Congress in a district that he said had not elected a Republican since Union guns made it do so during Reconstruction. He promised that in Washington he would be "one less vote for an agenda that makes you want to throw up." He was elected to the Senate in 2002 and soon almost certainly will join the Republican presidential scramble, enlivening it with his quick intelligence, policy fluency, mordant wit and provocative agenda.
He has the normal senatorial tendency to see a president in the mirror and an ebullient enjoyment of campaigning's rhetorical calisthenics. Another reason for him to run resembles one of Dwight Eisenhower's reasons. Graham detects a revival of the Republicans' isolationist temptation that has waned since Eisenhower defeated Ohio's Sen. Robert Taft for the 1952 nomination.

This was actually written just over a year ago, not "this late in the game." The OP mentioned that in his comments and posted this to show where GOPe sentiments were at the time.
George knew ahead of time that the bathroom issue would come up, and Graham was the only girly man enough to accept it.
George Will is taking Kristol off the hook as the most hated pretend conservative commentator. I wish him miseries and calamities and a hasty exit from the atmospheric part of the planet.
I don’t want to think about Linda’s idea of what should “lubricate” American civic life. Yeesh.
All of the guys in the establishment inherently understand that Trump threatens their comfortable positions, and the breadth of reaction you are seeing is based on that fear of loss.
That article is a year old, and according to the primaries, the answer is a resounding “NO thanks”.
Graham hardly ever registered above 2%.
I think Graham would make a fine president.
Of the old Soviet Union.
Will’s true self has come out, slowly but surely. Last year he came out as atheist, and now he is a self-described Hillary Clinton supporter who vows to purge any Trump supporters from the rep. party. His favorite is Graham, who had to drop out of the primaries before South Carolina because he couldn’t even show well in his home state. A man more out of touch with the American right is hard to imagine. He and Lindsey just need to go back to their hot tub and shut up.
Linda couldn’t get above 1% of the vote, even in his home state, which how moronic, out of touch with reality the little frog George Will is!
This has got to be satire, who in their right mind would even consider Graham?
You’re just yankin’ my chain now!
Yup. John McCain or Lindsey Graham would never get my vote....ever.
