How the #NeverTrump crowd can cripple his presidency
Donald Trump has a shot at reconfiguring the electoral map putting traditionally blue states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin into play, with his working-class, industrial appeal. Hes going to need the support of the #NeverTrump crowd in the nations suburbs.
According to the Atlantic, Mr. Trump could win the Rust belt states without improving on any other demographic by holding his opponent to less of the working-class white vote than any Democrat has won since 1988. Yes, thats a narrow path, but given Mr. Trumps potential appeal to new and crossover voters and a general lack of enthusiasm for Mrs. Clintons candidacy among Democrats its plausible.
In Iowa, if all else remained constant, [Trump] could win if he held the Democratic nominee to 47 percent or less of the vote among working-class whites, not much different from the partys recent low point of 48 percent in 2004, The Atlantic reported. In Ohio, Trump could win by pushing the Democrat even slightly below the recent low point of 40 percent that [President Barack] Obama notched in 2012.
Overall, if Mr. Trump were to capture 65 percent or more of the white vote, he would win the nomination, pollsters say. In 2012 Mitt Romney won 59 percent.
====================================
The first step in turning Mr. Trumps numbers around is for Party elites to finally coalesce around Mr. Trump, Mr. Olsen said. For example, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walkers endorsement could move the needle in Wisconsin, and John Kasichs support could solidify Mr. Trumps numbers in Pennsylvania and Ohio. So far both men have been solidly anti-Trump.
The #NeverTrump movement may not be strong enough to deny Mr. Trump the nomination, but it is strong enough to deny him the presidency.

Kasich is an incredible egotist, he will not support the P as VP. If he selects that man the press will have Kasich undermining Trump every day. And Kasich will cooperate.
“I can never vote for liberals, progressives or communists. That means no democrat will ever get my vote. Trump is clearly a progressive. Remember, the progressive movement started in the republican party.”
___________
Oh,please. If he’s a “progressive” why is he attacked by every commie progressive dolt in the country, to the point they use violence against his supporters? Don’t you think they can recognize one of their own?
I trust Rubio more than Kasich.
Both of the older Trump boys would do well GOP politicians and may well run at some point. But for that to happen Trump has to be a great president. I firmly believe that Trump wants to be president not because he needs the power that comes from it, but because he wants to leave a country where his kids can be as successful as he has been. And to do that he needs to fix this listing republic before it capsizes and sinks.

While I like the idea, I’m not convinced it would be a smart move. I would love it, but it might be political dynamite.
If he explained it in the terms I did that caused you to respond as you did, then I think it might play.
He could also say, look folks, if we do wrong by you, in four years you could cancel our contract.
You seem to have not gotten my point. It’s that when the GOPe gets their guy they insist on unity and sucking it up to save the country. When they don’t get their guy they want to burn the country down in a tantrum.
Boy does that chart looks nice, dynoman! :)
OMG! Is that for real??
I think the media is purposely WAY overhyping the neverTrump “movement”. I suspect the neverTrump crowd consists of billionaires, and country club RINOs, and GOPe operatives, but most of all, Democrats and “Progressives” wouldn’t vote for ANY Republican anyway.
But even so, there being hell to pay, he is also complimentary of people he has had run ins with.
He is an exception to the rule.
He doesn’t seem to hold grudges, and in fact seems to see good in most people.
If he sports a person’s strong point and can use that person in that capacity to get a goal attained, more power to him.
He’s a non nonsense guy though. You better do your best for him, because if he takes note you’re screwing up, you’re out.
He has fired some folks very close to him. Caroline was an individual on the Apprentice that I really liked. She did something and was history.
He’s very loyal, and yet firm when he needs to be.
“I wonder what his price is”
Rubio is in a strange position for a candidate who was supposed to be the future of the Republican Party. He gave away his Senate seat before the primaries. He has burned many bridges here in Florida. When Trump said he couldn’t be elected dog-catcher, he was actually quoting a high ranking Florida GOP official.
If he throws in with Cruz and it blows up, he has no political future; he will be a politician without a home state. The 1 million Trump voters in Florida will make sure of that.
But if he sides with Trump, he could resurrect himself. He did get 640,000 votes in FL, And the Trump voters will mostly embrace him. Rubio as VP on the ticket would lock in Florida’s 29 electoral votes. It would also build a bridge to the GOP national support that Trump will need to fight the Clinton machine.

Which of Trump’s policy positiona posted on his website are progressive positions?? Please point them out to me.
All good points, but I'd really prefer Jeff Sessions. If Trump decides to kick over all the apple carts he's going to need a bullet proof VP if you get my meaning.
I think the VP price is too high. Rubio might influence the outcome in Florida, but I think this campaign (and whatever toes he has stepped on) have made him damaged goods politically. A cabinet appointment keeps his career alive, and tees him up for a number of post-appointment years as a lobbyist.
I don’t think he brings enough to be the proverbial one heartbeat away from the Presidency.
Are you serious...that was it???
I’ll bet he could speak to a larger crowd by just hanging out in a women’s restroom.
LOL....and you’re probably right.
I don’t think you understand what that word means. Lefty were trying to kill Trump yestersay.
