Hopefully we haven't lost our country that far yet. Perhaps the courts could find it in their domain to deal out the harsh punishments recommended once the police turn in the appropriate evidence of criminal actions.
C-BS downplayed what went on significantly by saying these protests were “largely peaceful.” If Tea Partiers behaved this way, the media would play this up significantly. These protesters hurled obscenities, blocked roads, crashed a barricade to try to get into the hotel, assaulted Trump supporters and surrounded their cars (if you include the previous night), beheaded a cardboard Trump, broke into the hotel and unfurled a banner, clashed with police and called the police names, etc.
The liberals, moderates, and overall uninformed morons who read this article will take Trump as the bad guy for his tweet when what he said was 100% right.

The definitions make no reference to whether violence is or is not part of religion.

See HR 347, which I believe was signed into law by Obama about 3 or 4 years ago provides the tools.
Among other things it makes it a crime to block ingress or egress to any building or place wherein is any person protected by the Secret Service, or to conspire to do so. Trump is a person protected by the Secret Service, so the act clearly applies. Many other acts we are seeing by the protestors are also made criminal by the act. Punishment is 1 year, or 10 years if the violation is by a person armed with a deadly weapon or causes “significant injury.”
