When Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump declared he was the presumptive nominee this week, much news coverage challenged him on it. A new survey reveals that GOP voters appear to agree with Mr. Trump: 89 percent now agree that the candidate will win the nomination, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Friday.
The number of Republican voters who believe Mr. Trump will be the nominee has risen by 18 percentage points in less than a week. The poll analysis cites his sweeping primary victories in New York and five other states in recent days as deciding factors.
To show how far Trump has come in a presidential bid that most considered highly improbable at the time, just 25 percent of Republicans said he was the likely nominee, Rasmussen reported.
Americans in general agree. Among all likely voters, 80 percent believe the billionaire will be on the national ballot in seven months.

Trump should offer Cruz a position in his government, perhaps as head of the justice department, so that Cruz can go after the thieves of DC and hurt them as they have hurt America and the Conservatives who love the Constitution, God, family, and country. If only Cruz would make the step to acknowledge the truth that Americans want an outsider to be President and Trump will probably that man, no convention delegates should change the voters will.
Well said, you’re right on.
Any bets thatRushDrug Rush Limbaugh never mentions this Monday, but emphasizes the poll that shows Cruz surging? What are the odds that Cruz quits if he loses Tuesday?
Time for Crewz to take a cruise.
When Cruz loses on Tuesday expect him to pull a walk on water or turn water into wine illusion that will convince the masses he is the anoinTed one.
“......89 percent now agree that the candidate will win the nomination...”
I’d bet that Lyin’ Ted and The Face are both suffering from flulike systems today.
YIKES!
Is it me or has Lyin’ Ted become even uglier as the campaign has gone along?
Might be the angle of his face and the photo, but I swear it looks like his nose has gotten longer...
Cruz won’t drop out.
He is now working for the GOPe’s toward a contested convention.
He will end up being the most hated man in the country.
Cruz has screwed it up and after Tuesday, he can drop out.
Hillary has shifted into General Election mode while Trump is still fighting a two-front war with the GOPe nipping at his heels. Cruz needed to drop out last Wednesday. Winning Indiana changes nothing.
It is time for Cruz and Kasich to grow up, bow out and endorse Donald Trump for President.
Might be the angle of his face and the photo, but I swear it looks like his nose has gotten longer...
The amount of money the GOPe has wasted on him is beyond belief.
...
Let’s not forget the money they wasted on Jeb, and 2012, and 2008. But when they are ultimately stealing money from the taxpayer, it’s not such a big deal (for them).
Cruz has planted his flag with the Carly selection. He will not drop out until Trump has 1,237 or wins a ballot vote at the convention.
I dont think hes psychologically capable of doing that.
I agree. Ever since Iowa, Cruz proven he has psychological issues.
“It is time for Cruz and Kasich to grow up, bow out and endorse Donald Trump for President. “
Ditto - except, as you said, it’s PAST time.
