Throughout the Republican Party, from New Hampshire to Florida to California, many leaders, operatives, donors and activists arrived this week at the conclusion they had been hoping to thwart or at least delay: Donald Trump will be their presidential nominee.
An aura of inevitability is now forming around the controversial mogul. Trump smothered his opponents in six straight primaries in the Northeast and vacuumed up more delegates than even the most generous predictions foresaw. He is gaining high-profile endorsements by the day a legendary Indiana basketball coach Wednesday, two House committee chairmen Thursday. And his rivals, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, are making the kind of rushed tactical moves that signal desperation.
The party is at a turning point. Republican stalwarts opposed to Trump remain fearful of the damage the unconventional and unruly billionaire might inflict on the partys down-ballot candidates in November. But many also now see him as the all-but-certain nominee and are exhausted by the prospect of a contested July convention, according to interviews this week with more than a dozen party figures from coast to coast.
People are realizing that hes the likely nominee, said Tim Pawlenty, a former Minnesota governor and one-time endorser of Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida. The hysteria has died down and the range of emotion is from resignation to enthusiasm.
In Colorado where Cruz outfoxed Trump in a series of clamorous meetings earlier this month to win all of the states 34 available delegates former state party chairman Dick Wadhams said, Fatigue is probably the perfect description of what people are feeling.

PING
What is it they are afraid of?....An American that is actually proud and grateful that he could amass great wealth and provide for his family ?....Quote from Trump during one of the multiple rallies he has done “it’s payback time” not much to figure out, he could sit on his laurels and watch our republic burn with no effect to him or his family....think people ...he does not need this. For that reason alone he is my choice and has been after Cruz kept shatting where he ate (his votes)

Now the important test for Trump begins. He needs to keep telling these GOP-e politicians that he doesn’t need their support, and that the best way for them to atone for their sins is to drop out of politics.
I don’t think he’ll fall for their trickery; he didn’t become wealthy by letting his guard down, after all.
I don’t really think there will be a problem down ballot if those candidates are of good republican/conservative stature...
THAT is up to the down ballot candidates themselves...
THAT will be determined by the way they campaign themselves up to November....
If they campaign like Trump, they’ll be fine...
If they campaign like Cruz...It’s bye bye....
I can imagine McShame and Linda spooning and sucking their thumbs tonight.
Manafort did not last long, so yes you can’t fool Donald.
In retrospect, I think it may have been Cruz who was outfoxed.
Trump was able to tie Cruz to a corrupt system here in CO, and Cruz jumped right in, bragging about his voter-less win.
We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately. - FRANKLIN
I hope the money for the Cruz campaign dries up after Indiana.
Actually he does need their support, at least mostly. And he will get it, mostly. Of course some dead enders will seek to undermine him, but for the most part they will play ball with Trump because otherwise they are out of the game.
Right. After Colorado Cruz enjoyed a brief period of smug gloating, but at the cost of his integrity. A bad bargain.
I’m not really seeing how Trump needs GOP-e support. (Granted, he does need the GOP-e to stay out of his way and to not give money/votes to Hitlery, but that’s more of a neutral position.) He doesn’t need their money, he’s perfectly competent at getting out his message through the media without their help, and he knows plenty of competent policy makers who have never been under the influence of the GOP-e.
Acceptance is the final stage. Grab your garlic and Crucifix. Hillary is ahead of us.
HE’ll have government financing and control of the Republican coffers.
The experiment of electing as president an illegal alien foreigner who hates America and Americans hasn’t worked out too well for most of us.
It’s time to elect a genuine American who doesn’t actually hate us and who will place our interests before those of our detractors and enemies.
But I know that will be a hard pill to swallow for the elites of both parties in Washington.
To them nationalism and patriotism are so gauche.
Non eligible, not Natural Born Citizen, Cuban-Canadian, Pinocchio Ted attacking Big Donald at CNN freestyle match.
Cruz "character":
1. Phony summonses mailed out, scaring people to vote for Cruz.
2. Claiming Carson quit, presinc captains told voters "vote for Cruz"
3. Campaigning in the 800 churches, showing video "vote for me" with his preacher/father stomping for him. Rafael Cruz is a Seven Mountain Dominionist and believes his son is the anointed one.
4. "Brilliant" lawyer, did not know he was Canadian citizen and that he is not Natural Born Citizen, not eligible for office of P or VP. But he is excellent speaker.
5. Making phony video advertising with lies about opponents.
6. Uses Trump's wife in advertising "vote for Cruz" and then screams that Trump hates women, while he "loves them" - keeping few extra mistresses.
Just enough to beat Trump in IA, apologize, rinse and repeat?
Liar is the polite term for this Cuban-Canadian. His father was pro-communist in Cuba, imprisoned by Batista, but now he is refugee?
IRREFUTABLE AUTHORITY HAS SPOKEN
(Oct. 18, 2009) The Post & Email has in several articles mentioned that the Supreme Court of the United States has given the definition of what a "natural born citizen" is. Since being a natural born citizen is an objective qualification and requirement of office for the U.S. President (and VP), it is important for all U.S. Citizens to understand what this term means.
