A vermin infestation has overrun the kitchen of a suburban Chicago Veterans Affairs hospital and is reportedly so severe that cockroaches routinely crawl across countertops as cooks prepare meals. The insects have even found their way into patients’ food, employees say. The bug invasion has attracted the attention of a U.S. senator who is demanding to know how the VA is fixing the problem. It’s just the latest scandal at an agency rocked by allegations of abuse, incompetence and the needless deaths of veterans who wait years for medical appointments.

I go to the Murfreesboro Tn. VA and I have nothing but the highest praise for them. Super clean, efficient, friendly and helpful. It all boils down to the local administrator at each facility that determines what shape they are in.
These people should be simply shot dead. They are evil.
Are there not one common non poison things that can keep that bug out?

Taxes won’t change a thing, attitude is the problem. Government union workers doing as little as possible knowing they can’t be fired.
I really think after a hard look at the VA system we will find the only way to fix it is to contract out the work and do away with the VA as we know it now. I think the corruption and incompetence will make it hard if not impossible to fix.
Sorry, the exterminator budget is being spent to try to finish the Taj Mahal they are building in Denver (well, Aurora, actually).
That, and as long as you keep a government service incompetent, you, as a politician, can keep having an issue to campaign on ... that you're going to fix it. If it actually gets fixed, you don't have that anymore and why would someone vote for you.
Government is tremendously efficient at doing what they truly want to do, like overtax and overregulate.
VA Hospitals are like our public schools. It won't matter how much money you try to throw at the problem. The real problem is the government employees staffing the system, and the difficulty of firing the incompetent/corrupt ones.

Give a premium to HMO’s, private doctors, pts and hospitals that will treat our vets. Have MediCare monitor the costs to ensure that they don’t charge $500 for an aspirin.
Keep caring for the vets with amputations and prosthesis at Army/Navy hospitals until they don’t need it.
Close the VA hospitals and lay off everyone in them. The good docs/rns/ and other good people will be able to find jobs quickly.
all they did was lose legs and arms and suffer TBIs that have completely altered the course of their lives. In their 20s, many.

I have a friend (Vet) that works at a VA hospital, she said the workers treat the Vets like crap, and only about 10% of the workers are Vets.
Some have said that vets need VA hospitals for ailments that are much more common for vets (eg, PTSD, long-term effects of Agent Orange, tropical diseases), but for that I say that there is nothing stopping a private sector hospital system from creating a "veterans" department, and trying to attract vets to use them.
I’m in total agreement with the exception of limb replacement and the therapy before and after.
Pay the Hospitals well enough so that Kaiser, Stanford and the good Catholic hospitals want that business will go for it and be competitive.
CHICAGO is a demokkkrat hell-hole. Have John Kerry give them his wifes Heinz ketchup, which can’t be sold as ketchup in Switzerland because tomato is not the main ingredient so the taste is neutralized.
The point is - They wouldn’t have to raise taxes at all.
They simply have to quit spending the money on Illegal Aliens, Non-Refugees and the able bodied poor who refuse to work for $7.25/hour. (Because they can make $30K+/yr sitting on their dead asses.)
