Although Trump seems to be making a concerted effort to appear more “presidential” by delivering a speech on foreign policy in Washington on April 27 and more traditional by bringing in grown-ups like veteran GOP political operative Paul Manafort, his choice of a running mate could still be as unconventional as his can’t-look-away campaign has been.
Among the obvious candidates are former rivals like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who threw himself onto Trump’s gold-plated bandwagon shortly after pulling out of the primary race; Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who would help in his crucial home state and possibly offset some of the Hispanic animus toward the illegal immigrant-bashing billionaire; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, an early primary dropout and former darling of conservative fat cats; and Ben Carson, the soft-spoken former neurosurgeon who has endorsed Trump and could add gravitas to the ticket — plus as an African American, he might make it seem more inclusive.

IMO Trump will either choose a VP based on either whoever can deliver the final delegates he needs for the nomination, or whoever Trump feels can best help him win the November election. The former depends on Trump needing a few more delegates at the convention. IMO Kasich is pretty high on both lists, though Rubio would certainly be better for November. I'd rather not have either as a replacement President. Rubio does have growth potential in that regard.
Cruz as VP would very much unify the party. I'd rather have Cruz on the Supreme Court, particularly as Scalia's replacement, but he would probably be the best replacement President of the bunch.
I still really like Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. He was my first choice for the nomination, and I hope Trump selects him for VP. What especially strikes me about Walker is his character.

Trump’s not going to be able to appeal to many more women than he is now. The 2 divorces and 3rd young trophy wife are going to kill those chances. Black men are one of the groups he should try to make inroads with to make up the gap with women. Trump’s been friendly with Al Sharpton and supportive of affirmative action, so his policies are compatible with what blacks want.
Trump’s supporters have been saying Michelle Fields put out a bogus harassment complaint against Allen West. So Trump’s camp can claim these other accusations against West are just trumped-up charges, from women like Anita Hill and the ones who went after Bill Cosby, Herman Cain, O.J. Simpson and Tiger Woods.
Newt was pro-amnesty during his 2012 presidential run.

He observed that “The 12 million people are here, living and working.” “Many of them are bound together by the web of human relations — family, friends, neighbors — and the American people will not support mass deportation.” “As a party, we simply cannot continue with immigration rhetoric that in 2012 became catastrophic — in large part because it was not grounded in reality.”
