Donald Trump is two for two with teleprompter-ed speeches. That is, he is batting 1000 with remarks that are carefully prepared and delivered. So for his sake, he should keep it up. And if he does, he can win the Republican nomination in July and the general election in Novemberby carrying 40 states.
Trumps speech today to the Center for the National Interest (CFTNI), an old-line realist think tank in DC, was well received. CFTNI was once known as the Nixon Center, as in, the 37th president, and it still includes on its board such legendary Nixon foreign-policy hands as Henry Kissinger.
Not surprisingly, Trumps hard-nosed policy ideas were a tonic to grizzled Nixonian realpolitikers. Yet at the same time, his ideas were cheering to a younger generation, weary of the endless wars-for-democracy of the Bush 43 administration, as well as the foolishly sovereignty-smiting policies of the Clinton and Obama administrations.
Indeed, in choosing to speak before CFTNI, as opposed to, say, AEI or Heritage, Trump was sending a clear signal to the neocons who dominated the Bush 43 administration: Your days of costly nation-building are done. (And yet interestingly, Trump was introduced by Zalmay Khalilzad, Bush 43s ambassador to the United Nations.)
So when Trump puts his mind to it, he can be not only entertaining but also effective. His CFTNI speech, on top of his March 21 speech to the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), proves that Trump can operate smoothly at the presidential level.
In his 38-minute address, Trump got right down to it: Its time to shake the rust off Americas foreign policy. Its time to invite new voices and new visions into the fold, something we have to do.

I think his share of black voters will a little less than that, about 20%. But between that and energizing people who haven't voted in years and flipping blue collar white Democrats Trump will take OH, PA, MI, NH and FL, more than enough to crush Hillary.
It will be interesting to see if Hillary does anything to address Trump's strength with black voters, or if she'll be lulled by her strong showing against Sanders in the southern primaries, mostly due to the large black voting population of the south.
Watch for her to pick a black VP. If she does she's worried about Trump's relative strength with black men. Which, if anyone is curious, is due to Trump's status - he's not a butt kissing politician, he's a billionaire with a supermodel wife. Also black men have no love for man hating feminists, and that's Hillary.
Trump has alluded to this a many times. Trumps current speeches accuse Hillary of not having the stamina to be President.
New York ophthalmologist Dr. Mark Werner told Fox News that the special glasses Hillary was wearing are Fresnel prism eyeglasses that are used to treat double vision, which is sometimes caused by severe head trauma.
CO isn’t as solidly blue as you think. Hillary is about as well liked as hemmorhoids there. She couldn’t even manage to rig the caucus.
IA will go for Hillary when pigs fly. Same for Florida.
PA is actually in play this year. Trump’s casino-business ties put him in a better position than anyone to take Nevada back.
Though I agree with you VA may be a lost cause this year.
Way too pessimistic.
“I know a ton of Democrats - male, female, black and white - here [in southern Virginia] who are going to vote for Trump. It’s all because of economic reasons. It’s because of his populist message,” Mudcat told The Daily Caller Wednesday.
Don't give up on VA.
Of course, one can educate one's self; however, it is blatantly obvious that you haven't bothered to help yourself much at all; educationwise.
And FYI.....cherry-picking articles only makes YOU look the fool.
Yep and then The Sacramento Bee decides to do a story about how dangerous his foreign policy seems.....
Go Trump!!!
There you go at the personal attacks again.
I actually do have a graduate degree but that’s neither here nor there. I know a lot of people with higher degrees who are “poorly educated” mostly because they went to a crappy liberal college or they refuse to continue to educate themselves beyond college graduation. One of the most brilliant people I know dropped out of school in Jr high, but you’d never know it because he has continued to educate himself and owns a thriving company. His education came from a willingness to learn from the wisdom of the elders in his life. (After a few rebelious teen years)
So as a person with a college degree, I can definitively say. College degrees ain’t all that. It shows a person has a desire to better themselves maybe, but aside from specialty degrees (medical, engineering, etc) I’m not sure 4 year universities always prepare you for a job in the field you “master”....
That’s my take on education. So berating me about it is pointless.
And the article is cherry picked? Well, was Bruce Jenner allowed to pee in the with little girls at Trump Tower or not? How is that cherry picking an article? Do you have 1 to contradict the story?
What was taken out of context?
You should know, since you took 2 words out of about 25.
Trump had a long list of all the demographics he was winning in.
You need to get the cotton out of your ears. Trump’s speech didn’t sound like anything OKenyan ever thought or said. He has a really good foreign policy plan that most people are happy to hear.
Its very likely that Trump will pick Kasich for VP. OH is a must win swing state.
You need to throw that outdated map away. Trump is more than likely to get 20%-25% of the black vote. He is also likely to get a big chunk of the union vote. Could put PA in play. Trump will take FL and likely MI also.
