Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz has tapped former technology executive Carly Fiorina as his running mate in the race for the White House.
The Texas senator plans to formally unveil his pick for vice president Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis.
That's according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the plan, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized speak before the official announcement.
Cruz is trying to generate momentum for his struggling campaign. GOP front-runner Donald Trump swept primaries in five Northeastern states on Tuesday.
Cruz has been mathematically eliminated from winning enough delegates to clinch the Republican presidential nomination before primary voting ends.
But he's pushing to claim the nomination at a contested national convention in July.
The 61-year-old Fiorina endorsed Cruz earlier in the year after abandoning her own presidential bid. The former chief executive at Hewlett-Packard has never held elected office.

Jeb Bush was absolutely crazy obsessed with Trump.
At Christmas, Jebby-boy picked up a Monopoly game and said “I never tried to have a monopoly like Donald Trump”. I yelled at the TV, LOL.
Which Jeb’s statement is kinda ironic, given Daddy and whatever.
;)
Good Grief ! it just keeps getting worse! make it stop!
GO AWAY TED !
Trump could one-up him and sure up some support among some of the haters by declaring that when he is elected he will nominate Ted Cruz to the Supreme Court to fill the vacant Alito seat. Boom - thunder stolen and it could bring about some curious responses...
It wasn’t the House of Bush that had the monopoly on things. It was the House of Saud that had a monopoly on the Bushes.
I’d disagree if you were wrong.......
I’m just wondering how Heidi is reacting to all this. Now it’s Ted & Heidi & Carly. Or is it Ted & Carly & Heidi. Or maybe Ted & Carly but no Heidi. Butt, who nose?
I believe at the time he ran he legitimately believed the country needed help RIGHT NOW and he had to get in, but now the never give up attitude is wearing thin on the electorate.
Trump gives the most coherent foreign policy speech since RR, and people howl that he is a lunatic. While the genuine lunatic Cruz, who can't manage simple factual declarative sentences tries claiming he is a "constitutional conservative" as if with his lack of command of standard language and logic he could hold a candle to the founding fathers.
And then this move.
demenTED.
I don’t think things are going well for our country. I’ve been saying that a long time. I hope I’m completely dead-wrong and we can all laugh at me in a year or two.
But I sure don’t want Hillary or Bernie at the helm when things start going down. I’ll take a successful businessman.
And I sure don’t want Teddy with Glenn Beck at the White House and the crazy road show.
Holy cow. You could have told me this 20 years ago and I would have said it can’t happen that fast.
And it did. Starting in 2008. At least that’s when the insanity went “mainstream”.
But he is not a bonafide vetted, confirmed CONSERVATIVE. Everything he has done and said prior to this race is opposite his talk these days. I dont trust that.
No incentive in this to come here illegally and stay. None whatsoever.
Any guess who Kasich will pick as his VP?
Poor delusional thing.

Cruz needs to let it go. He will not win. It's becoming a train wreck to watch. It really seems to be all about raising money at this point so people get a paycheck. The minute Cruz suspends, hundreds of people will literally not have a paycheck deposited into their checking account the following week. That is all this is about at this point, giving those who are about to be out of a job, time to get another job lined up and not lose any income. No other reason Cruz would be embarrassing himself so much at this point. Something is off. Delusions of Grandeur.
Someone on the Cruz campaign needs to man up and call for an intervention. There is too much second hand embarrassment. The SNL jokes write themselves.
Second hand embarrassment. There needs to be an intervention.
LOL
That speech! I was an early Cruz supporter, but he is just flat out boring to listen to. I cant believe they let him ramble on and on like that. Love the guy, personally, but it dawned on me recently that for reasons like his complete “boringness” he just can’t win the general election.
LOL....perfect!!
Tweet that to Trippin’ Ted.
Carly jumps over to Kasitch if Cruz doesn’t quite make it. Kind of a reverse Mormon thing.
haha— I guess that means Kasich gets Carly for Oregon and New Mexico...
Makes you wonder who is going to take a ride in the Rubber Truck first, Cruz or Beck?
