Republican mega-donors, increasingly fed up with their partys circus-like presidential primary, are sitting on their checkbooks until the nominee is decided.
GOP campaigns and super-PACs saw dismal fundraising figures in March. John Kasichs campaign took in $4.5 million and his supporting super-PAC $2.8 million for the month numbers Democratic candidate Bernie Sanderss campaign can beat on a good day.
And Ted Cruz isn't doing much better. After a strong start, the pro-Cruz super-PAC's income has slowed to a trickle, and his campaign took in just $12.5 million in March less than half of Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clintons campaign haul and about a quarter of Sanderss total.

Listen to voters? Learning how to do that's going to take a while - the GOP and its donors have been playing this "manipulating voters" game for 40 years now. Reagan was the big anomaly. Poppy, Dole, W, McCain, Myth - it's how they roll.
Their pouring that money to anti-Trump downticket candidates.
Every RINO/Dem congressman and senator will be rolling in dough.
That ship sailed when they tried the slut shaming on Melania in Utah. I don’t think the Donald is going to get over that one
You misunderstand; I want them to throw their money away.
That's because for the first time in many many years they don't know who to buy yet. This whole lousy crowed in Washington needs to go. I do believe it will be done in one of two ways. It's either the ballot box or the ammo box. I would prefer the former rather than the latter but one way or the other, the hand writing is on the wall.
Bingo, someone who gets it. These mega donors couldn't care less about a politician's party affiliation. Ideology is irrelevant. They are interested in only one thing - access and influence. Their money always goes to the candidate they think most likely to win, and that is their only criteria.
This is one of the unsung major advantages of DJT - he doesn't need their money, so they can't buy either access or influence the traditional way with campaign donations. Whatever it is they want - cheap labor through open immigration, judicial appointments favorable to their industry, even punishing regulations levied against their competitors (Obama's specialty) - will now have to be argued on it's own merits in order to convince Trump to act on it.
An alliance with Cruz?
CRUZ is the problem! Cruz needs to go away.
Brings to mind one of the great mysteries of this campaign.
How is it that eliminating the big money fixers in politics can be accomplished by electing one of them?
You really don't know the answer to that? Or are you speaking rhetorically?
If a bank robber is made chief of bank security, will there be any more bank robberies??
And, if you owned a bank, you'd put the fox in charge of the henhouse...???
They’ve stuck their checkbooks up their butts?
They clearly have had their heads up their butts for a decade or so but I guess there is some room for their checkbooks, too.
At one point in time it might have worked.
NO WAY it works now. Cruz brings nothing positive, only negatives.
Fed-up GOP mega-donors sitting on their checkbooks
Fed-up progressive mega-donors sitting on their checkbooks. Fixed it for you.
LOL, touché!
I'm out of it for a while and everyone gets delusions of grander. (Han).
Something is afoot.
A 3rd party run perhaps.
And not the one the Neo-Cons are pushing....that was just planting a ridiculous seed with a bunch of no names with no organization or donors at all.
Ted and Carly?
Not THAT is horse of a different color....and could change everything.
JMHO
Jedi.
And Carly's speech seemed more like a 3rd party one...not to supportive of the current Republican leadership.
She got some good shots in at the beast too though.
Interesting times.
Jedi.
If one were laying the groundwork for a legitimate and viable 3rd party run.
No costly convention.
An organization.
And willing donors...conservative money and maybe some of that Rino money that is sitting on the sidelines.
Could be an interesting time around the convention.
Unless there are moves that take place earlier.
Best election cycle ever!!!!!
Jedi.
