Ted Cruz's presidential campaign has a short list of potential vice presidential picks that includes former rival Carly Fiorina, campaign aides announced Monday.
Cruz's campaign manager tweeted that they "have narrowed our VP candidates to a short list and are going thru the normal processes associated with picking a running mate." A top aide to Fiorina confirmed to NBC News that the former Hewlett-Packard CEO who endorsed Cruz earlier this year was on the list.
The vice presidential candidate selection process has typically been a secretive one in modern presidential politics. Candidates generally shy away from talking publicly about the vetting until they secure their parties' nominations.
Cruz currently trails frontrunner Donald Trump by almost 300 delegates.
John Kasich's campaign confirmed to NBC News they also are vetting potential vice presidential picks. But chief strategist John Weaver told NBC News, "We are conducting a deliberative process and not in public."

Both sour pusses!!! I will not vote for that ticket!!
I suppose that by that logic I should be working on my short list for veep should I win the Republican nomination.
Fiorina didn't invent outsourcing. She just jumped on the bandwagon as quickly as she could.
It’s one of my pet peeves. The movies and radio shows made back in the day (prior to the mid-sixties, maybe?) featured actors who enunciated clearly and spoke proper english with beautifully modulated tones. Many, if not most of them took voice lessons. Today, too many speak too quickly, have high-pitched, annoying voices and add too much slang to their statements.
Honestly, this man must have a form of mental illness.
I think he sincerely believes that the stars will align and he will be sworn in as the next president of the USA.
Delusional is not a quality I think is good for a president.
I’m California too. May the Lord watch over Trump in the Northeast, against all the underhanded tricks of his enemies. Thanks again Grampa Dave.
I imagine I understand your candidate. I’m afraid you all are in for some rude awakenings if he is nominated.
And after Ted becomes the pope, he can select cardinals. And when he buys an NFL team, he can hire a head coach. The man is completely delusional. I wonder what it will do to him to wake up some day soon with the realization that he will almost certainly never be elected president.
Well if thats the reason he screwed up. The women I know have no idea who she is or can’t stand her.
This would be a smart pick for Cruz. Martinez would be a smart pick for Trump.
At this point, what difference does it make?
I can’t even conceive of any scenario whereby Ted is going to be selecting a VP candidate. This is beyond delusional.
BUT Who is on Trumps List for VP? Rubio (might bring in Latino votes) Dr. Carson (might bring in some black votes) Gov. Christie (Might pull in New Jersey) Sessions (he has congress in his hand) Gov. Walker? (good stand against the Unions) Carly Fiorina (Counter Hillaries attempt to paint Trump asd Anti-Woman) -—Who else? Rudy Juliani? sarah Palin, Hulk Hogan, Mike Huckabee, Chuck Norris?
Awake, awake, awake from your coma and take a long, harfd look at REALITY.
Your uneducated, pathetically stupid guesses, including the misspelling of Rudy GIULIANI's name, proves just how little you understand politics or anything else.
I hope to God you’re right and I’m wrong because I’m voting for the nominee Trump or whoever. I just foresee the landslide from hell.
“Bet shes on Trumps short list too.”
Fiorina doesn’t have the face to be President.
I know and understand politics. I've been correct about EVERYTHING I have posted about this primary season, so far and a lot of things I posted about, was months and months ago and I was 100% correct.
I understand Trump ( and all of the other candidates ) and have known about him for many decades; the good, the bad, and yes, the ugly. He is this nation's last best hope!
Well, I can speak to American actors. Since the advent of the Actors Studio, vocal training went right out the window. You would be hard put to find decent vocal training in America. And while once it was tantamount to achievement in England, even that has gone downhill. Although it is still important there since they truly care about Shakespeare and the classics.
Politicians, like Thatcher, took voice lessons to tone down stridency. Hillary will never, Cruz isn’t even aware there is a problem...
I agree, my dear nopardons. Indeed, you have been 100% correct in everything you’ve said this election cycle. Long may you reign, my dear!
