Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton traveled 260 miles for a Primanti Brothers sandwich Friday afternoon.
It was a capicola and cheese. With fries on it, of course: Skipping them before Tuesdays primary might be political suicide in Pittsburgh.
Indeed, Ms. Clintons afternoon visit to the Market Square Primantis was sandwiched between two events on the other side of the state. She began the day with an appearance in Montgomery County and was slated for a rally near Scranton on Friday evening.
During her hourlong visit, Ms. Clinton had an arranged lunch date with five union members in the outdoor seating area. While reporters could hear only snatches of the discussion, her lunch mates said it turned on labor and economic issues.
She was hitting on issues that were big for us, said Joel Niecgorski, a union carpenter from Jefferson Hills.
I brought up the plight of coal miners in Appalachia, said Jim DePoe, a North Sider who works at the Cheswick coal-fired power plant. She said wed have to do something about that.
Health care giant UPMC also came up for discussion, said Marla Blunt, a food service worker and member of SEIU 32BJ. We talked about how we are fighting, and how that fight is bringing the wages up in the next few years a reference to UPMCs recent pledge to raise wages to the $15-an-hour minimum sought by labor activists nationwide.
Ms. Clinton handled her sandwich adroitly, and left to cheers of Madame President! from scores of onlookers.
Democratic front-runner sitting a few tables away.

They told me to move outside because Hillary Clinton was coming, said Patrick McCormack, whod come from Long Island to see Saturdays Penguins-Rangers NHL playoff game. I thought they were joking.

Never mind. Promote and elect Hillary in order to finish off the work of the phony president whose aim was to cause the utter collapse of a nation.
It would amount to a mercy killing.
I brought up the plight of coal miners in Appalachia,
She said wed have to do something about that.
Well, there you go. She’ll ‘look into it’.
The fact that they have to struggle with drivel like this that tries to make her seem like she even knows, much less gives a sh!t about us the struggles, the daily doings or habits of us out here in drive by America just shows how utterly out of touch she is and how disconnected and regal she thinks she is. Pure bullsh!t.
That’s what happened to your bacon sammich. I knew it was around here somewhere. She ate it. That bacon sammich and $350K and you’ll be one of her best friends.
:o)
I think it’s because this crone has not one example of a substantive beneficial accomplishment throughout her entire career that she can put forth as ‘worthy’.
Down here, when you can’t say anything good you just say “bless her heart.”
The real question is did Hillary leave a tip.
Judging from the volume of her backside, I’d say she has consented to more fries than she’s resisted.
And as to her declaration that “we have to do something” about the administration bankrupting the coal industry, why, with brilliant, insightful solutions like those, it’s no wonder she’s running for president!
And there’s one the coal miners can take to the bank!
Welfare is a great solution for tune coal industry.
Pray America wakes
Wow, look at her big mouth.
Of course the SS did.
Hillary, ever the robust American working girl, placed a second order and washed it all down with a pitcher of Iron City Lager.
Oh good, a chance for me to rant a little bit about Primanti Bros.
Their sandwiches are OK, but I really hate the fries gimmick and, more importantly, their completely nonsensical feigned indignation if you ask them to put the fries on the side.
There are a couple of things that make their faux outrage exceptionally stupid, such as the fact that their fries are nothing special at all. Literally, they are just cut potatoes that are deep fried. In addition, plain, fried potatoes do nothing at all for, say, a pastrami and swiss sandwich. Then there’s the fact that if I did want plain fried potatoes on my sandwich, I could, you know, order some fries and put on as many as I want, instead of having two pounds of russet potato smashed into my sandwich at the time of its creation.
I traveled to downtown Pittsburgh quite a bit for work and have eaten there plenty of times, so if you’re ever there and want to try it out, here are some tips:
1) Sit at a table. The servers are a lot nicer about putting the fries and slaw on the side than the line cooks at the bar.
2) If you don’t mind arguing about not having greasy potatoes piled on your sandwich, sit at the bar at lunch, it’s easier than waiting for a table.
3) If you don’t like having to fight about the food that you’re paying for, go next door to Winghearts. It’s a much better place all-around anyway.
The bread and meat at Primanti’s is good, and the prices are good, but unless you’re going at off-peak time and can easily get a table, sometimes it’s just not worth the stress.
/end rant
But, working girl Hillary is fighting for you!
The only thing she’s fighting is the exposure of the real harridan that she is. Evil to the effing bone.
Her attire nowadays is bathrobes (at least those long coats she wears resembles bathrobes). Keep eating fat pills like those sandwiches and she’ll need mumu’s - XL.
On the topic - I don’t understand putting fries on your sandwich. I’ve tried it and you can’t even taste the fries. Rather have them on the side, with lots of salt and pepper.
