President Obamas weekly remarks
Hello, everybody. Today, there are some 2.2 million people behind bars in America. Millions more are on parole or probation. All told, we spend $80 billion taxpayer dollars each year to keep people locked up.
Many are serving unnecessarily long sentences for non-violent crimes. Almost 60 percent have mental health problems. Almost 70 percent were regular drug users. And as a whole, our prison population is disproportionately black and Latino.

Once again he sees a legitimate problem and misdiagnoses the cause and solutions. We do in fact have way too many people locked up at great expense to society. The cause is overwhelmingly our foolish “war on drugs.” The solution is decriminalization of what is essentially private consensual behavior and treating drug addiction as a health issue instead of an offense under the criminal code.
Obama, being a statist who would probably like to expand our prohibitionist regime to include tobacco products, is incapable of grasping this.
If he is wrong (and I agree he is) no curse is needed to wish on them. They wished their own curse.
That said, even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a valid nut. Lefties have been busy banning things from A to Z that America never used to ban.
That does not speak to what I said.
He’s talking about violent Black people who could be out voting for Democrats.
When alcohol Prohibition came, this was a sad time for the churches who forgot what their own bibles were trying to teach them. Too easily damning the occasion of temptation tends to remove responsibility for dealing with temptation in the first place.
That said, a blanket medicalization of all street drugs might fail to find favor because of other oxen that would be gored, such as a rise in traffic and industrial accidents. I would prefer such a policy in the abstract. Doing it in the concrete may be harder.
I’d lay at least even odds on that interpretation — that this is a dog whistle. Given the one speaking it and his history. He probably doesn’t care all that much about Whitey languishing in the Greybar Motel.
“almost 60 % have mental health problems, almost 70 % were regular drug users”; and 100% COMMITTED CRIMES AGAINST HONEST CITIZENS.
“Apparently not if Hillary is still on the loose.”
Our “Justice” System is now a Vice System and imprisons the Great and the Good like D’Souza and the Bundys and ANYONE who proclaims Truth/God-—like the bakers or photographers or the people who expose killing and selling babies or the pederasty of the CIA (Ted Gundersons/William Colby).
Real evil, vile, satanic people, like Matthew Shepard and H. Milk, Turing and John Maynard Keynes, are made “heroes” for our children, as they rape and have orgies with boys like Nero and the Afghani males.
Truth will set us Free-—but in America now Truth puts us in prison. The real EVIL people-—run the system now-—and they NEVER get put in prison.
It is Orwell’s Reality now-—where Slavery is Freedom and Vice is Virtue and Truth is Lies.
100% were convicted of crimes which doesn’t mean they committed them. Often the system becomes a game of suspicions and overzealous prosecutions and cutting losses.
We are all “Satanic” people till the moment we are born again.
Ignoring it except when he crawls out to threaten kids wit perversion in public bathrooms or to let more prisoners out to threaten our kids and to vote for people like Hilary ad her flying monkey
If we had fewer blacks and latinos committing crimes, then we would have fewer of them in prison, MORON!!!!!
All my life I thought criminals were supposed to be locked away from civil society. Apparently no one ever in his pathetic life taught Obama any rules of civilized society.
Since a disproportional number of blacks were being suspended for misbehavior, schools decided it wasn't fair, so suspensions of blacks ceased, and, of course, things got worse.
So let's have a different punishment standard for folks of color because it's fair racial justice.
The democrat party is a criminal organization.
(1.) We know that simply locking people up doesnt make communities safer. It doesnt deal with the conditions that lead people to criminal activity in the first place, or to return to prison later. After all, theres evidence that a 10 percent increase in the high school graduation rate leads to a nearly 10 percent decrease in arrest rates.
(2.) A ten percent wage increase for men without a college degree lowers crime by as much as 20 percent.
(1.) So if only more blacks valued their education, there would be less crime? But what does Obama propose to do about a ghetto culture which devalues doing well in school as acting white??? But aren’t communities safer if there are fewer criminals there, because they have been locked up?
(2.) So giving everyone a raise will cut crime rates? But the problem here is that, how does this get paid for? How does business give all their non college educated men a raise? Can they all just raise the prices of all the good and services the company sells to fund these raises? And aren’t big numbers of criminals not even working at a real job in the first place, so giving everyone a raise wouldn’t really cut the crime rate??
Just wonder about the liberal thought process sometimes. These are examples of liberal pablum in my opinion.
“Many are serving unnecessarily long sentences for non-violent crimes. Almost 60 percent have mental health problems. Almost 70 percent were regular drug users. And as a whole, our prison population is disproportionately black and Latino.”
The prison population is disproportionally black and latino because CRIMINALS ARE DISPROPORTIONATELY BLACK AND LATINO. That is a fact according easily determined by looking at the statistics.
