How long will it take Trump to repeal ObamaCare? (Vanity)
4/23/2016 | Myself

Posted on 04/22/2016 10:11:45 PM PDT by Crucial

The ObamaCare tax penalty for 2016 is egregious. It seems it was created to cripple the economy of the next incoming president by hamstringing American taxpayers. The ObamaCare tax penalty for 2016 is either the average cost of a bronze plan for however many months you didn't have coverage or 2.5% of your income, whichever is greater. I used an online ObamaCare tax penalty calculator. So if you are a married couple making $50,000 per year and you couldn't afford the marketplace premiums for the whole year, you would pay $2,085. That's a pretty big payment just for insurance and it is money that won't go back into the economy. This amount is assuming the price of these plans stays at their present levels which we all know they won't.

So my question is how long will it take Trump to repeal ObamaCare? Can he not suspend the ObamaCare tax without Congressional approval?

There are even plenty of single college students who would appreciate not having to pay this tax as well as young people not in in college. Yet, Trump just says he's going to replace it with something wonderful and gives no timetable. I think it's time to flesh out a plan before running against the Hildebeast.

Your argument is utterly circular.

The question is whether Trump will repeal Obama care and many perceptive observers point out that he will not do so, in fact he will expand it. He will expand it to cover people who were dying on the streets and the government will pay for that expansion.

Whether the government should pay to prevent people dying on the streets is another issue, one that might reveal a charitable heart and Donald Trump or it might simply reveal that the man doesn't know what he's talking about because, as you point out in one of your circular posts, the government is already paying for that.

But of course none of the realities here matter because all you have to do is call me a liar and proceed.

I only called you a liar because you lied,
so that is on you, not me.

No president can repeal pelosicare,
only congress can do that.

“Many perceptive observers” know that,
but you are apparently not one of them.

thanks for clarifying.
I was hoping you were saying something more like that.

But just because You or I might say every American should be as rich as they can handle... does NOT mean that every American WILL be that rich or that either of us will be committed to wealth transfers at gunpoint to make it happen... via the aegis of the us government.

I think every American SHOULD have healthcare. Especially the people who prepare my lunch, go to school with my grandchildren and sit next to me on the park bench.

But we cannot afford it for millions and millions of illegals, foreigners and ne’er do wells who are sitting around on their arses refusing to work, and abuse drugs, while they engage in deadly life threatening sexual behaviors, but then refuse get out of the cart and push like the rest of us.

Regardless of what they SHOULD do, that does not mean that they will do it, or that everyone will chose to or can choose to afford it.

Insurance companies should not be writing government policy that regulates their industry. Government should not be writing policy to enable campaign contributions from the health care industry. Congressional members who have received graft, bribes and honorarium bequests from them should have no part in writing, negotiating or voting on legislation that they have been influenced by.

RIGHT NOW, and before obamacare that WAS the case. It still is.
Remove the graft and cronyism and the health insurance, health care ‘crisis’ will resolve just fine.

maybe if we Americans were not paying for every damned thing on the earth where there are others who SHOULD be paying... we would have the wherewithal to repair our military, take care of our veterans, relieve the health care sector of unneeded government regulation, repair our hospital networks and have plenty of options for healthcare for our citizens.

However, I doubt Mexico will agree to pay for it.

No president can repeal pelosicare, only congress can do that.

This was preceded by from you:

I only called you a liar because you lied, Actually, a lie is a knowing misstatement of fact with intent to deceive and not merely a misstatement of fact believing it to be true. I know this is a difficult concept for Trump supporters, no doubt coming from the fact that their champion himself who often conflates the two. In the debate he called George Bush a liar, of course he was backed into a corner and later retracted the allegation to the effect that Bush lied us into the Iraq war. Scarcely anyone now disputes that the stated reason for invading Iraq, the presence or potential of weapons of mass destruction especially atomic weapons, was ill considered. But that does not mean it was a lie.

Trump likes to throw the accusation around that other people are liars. But Trump himself is an egregious liar. He has lied about his opposition to the Iraq war before the war commenced; he lied about people dancing on rooftops in New Jersey on 9/11. There is a website that catalogs literally more than 100 of Trump's lies. Perhaps the most obnoxious and hypocritical lie uttered by Donald Trump is to say the words, "lyin Ted."

So you call me a liar because only congress "can repeal pelosicare " and no president can do that. In order to make me a liar, you have to establish that I didn't know better. I will help you out, I already knew that Congress had that power alone (by two thirds majority in both houses) or in conjunction with the consent of the president.

I will let the reader judge whether indulging in the shorthand that says Obama care will not be "repealed" by Donald Trump, instead of saying in longhand "Donald Trump will not in practical actuality support the repeal of Obama care," makes me a liar.

Or the open-minded reader can conclude that it makes you childish.

Or merely Trump-ish

About 10 seconds via executive order, pending repeal legislation from Congress.

Trump's initial position paper makes it clear that the action is the responsibility of the U.S. Congress

However the Congress needs to be pushed and the new administration must be prepared to support their urgency with alternate proposals that Congress can take up and pass

It's not going to be easy because it affects Feds and states, legislation and tax policy that fall under chess nit the White House, and it may have to be done in stages, but if the commitment is there to end obamacare then the right administration using the right people and the right approach will get it done

If indeed crippling price increases are in store for 2017 then people need to be prepared to do their part by choosing wisely who represents them in Congress

If the people know the President is urging Congress to make changes and that the President has very viable popular proposals for alternates , then Congress will have a hard time hiding from their constituents

It will be up to us

It’s not going to be done by executive order. Even if he could do it that would leave tens of millions of working Americans without any healthcare at all. He says he wants to repeal and replace it, so it’s going to have to go through Congress. That’s where we’ll see if Trumps leadership and deal making is as good as he says. Nobody gets everything they want, but his plan is a good place to start.

Here is the outline of Trump’s approach
Free market and individual control over choices play a significant role, assisted by changes in govt regulation and in tax policy
https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/healthcare-reform

This was published early on in the campaign. Assuredly Trump wil have a dedicated team of experts and advisors ready to work on more detailed proposals with Congress which is the action branch to make changes

Donald Trump is about to unveil a new persona, the old persona was a lie of convenience or, rather, opportunism, his new persona will cut deals and everything will be as it was before-except America will be great again.

Boy, you just latch on and parrot every lame anti-Trump meme the Media throws out there, don't you? Yawn.

For you to try to make hay out of Trump's "image" statement is ridiculous. But I've come to expect such feeble spin from you.

All politicians seek to project and mold an image. It's part of what shapes their public persona. There's nothing untoward about it whatsoever. It's to be expected.

But Trump makes a candid statement about that process and you act as if it's some kind of sinister revelation. You just can't help yourself, can you? Blind hatred is an ugly thing to govern one's demeanor.

Have you not seen the Ted Cruz video outtakes that were released a few months ago, wherein he is doing the exact same thing? They make him look as phony as a 3 dollar bill. But it's just part of "projecting an image", and is perfectly mundane, just like Donald Trump's efforts to do so.

And as for your assertion that Donald Trump plans to "extend 0bamacare to include everyone", that is equally absurd propaganda.

0bamacare will be repealed and replaced with something much better: a free market based system which offers interstate competition, reforms in regulations regarding acquisition of pharmaceuticals & medicine, and several other eminently logical steps which won't resemble 0bamacare in any meaningful way.

By the way, you're probably not aware it yet, but Donald Trump has already won the GOP nomination. Why? Because the GOPe fools, along with their allies in the Left/Media/Ted Cruz campaign didn't think their suicidal "NeverTrump" vendetta through very thoroughly.

The GOPe and their Machiavellian ilk have created a dynamic wherein if Donald Trump is denied the nomination, the party is guaranteed to splinter, GOP voter enthusiasm is guaranteed to be destroyed, and, of course, Hillary is guaranteed to win a landslide in November.

As for Ted Cruz stealing seizing the GOP nomination, that is, in a word, impossible. It's sheer fantasy, regardless of what happens between now and the convention, and regardless of whether Donald Trump gets to 1,237 delegates or not.

Thus, my message to the GOPe is: Checkmate! You've already lost.

The funny thing is, if the GOPe had just allowed this primary process to unfold naturally, without their diabolical meddling, they would have had, ironically, an actual chance to stop Trump. But because of their hysterical actions, they've actually sabotaged themselves!

Suffice it to say that I'll be sleeping very well between now and the GOP convention, having realized exactly what a dominant position Donald Trump is in, and conversely how suicidal and self destructive the GOPe, Media, and Ted Cruz campaign have been. Their shortsightedness has truly been breathtaking, and it has already sealed their fate.

I'm putting together a detailed essay explaining to everyone (especially Ted Cruz fanboys) precisely how Donald Trump is guaranteed the nomination, and consequently how Ted Cruz has already lost it. It'll take some time to do so, and it'll be a work of art. I hope I can have it ready this weekend, but everyone is perfectly capable of realizing the truth for themselves. All it requires is some thoughtful reflection on the reality which faces America at this moment in her history.

The Revolution is ON!

Vote Trump.

Bush did lie. Or better mis-represented and mis-emphasized the truth.
He lied that Islam was peace.
He lied that Sadaam had much of anything to do with 911 because he was covering for his friends the Saudi’s, who were in tight with his family for multiple generations. He was sneaking them out of the country while he was building the narrative to finish what daddy didn’t.

Muslims DID rejoice on rooftops, though not in the known quantities and locations that Donald “remembers” and when keeping in mind that day, that I TOO saw them rejoicing on rooftops and so did my family members IN New Jersey at that time... I don’t think failure to give exact quantities and gps coordinates was within the scope of Donald’s jurisdiction at that time.

It was represented that way in the press as well.

Pictures of their rejoicing were suppressed and scrubbed from news outlets as well as the pictures and recordings of dead New Yorkers splattering on the concrete after falling 65 floors or so to their deaths while burning alive.

That “Islam means peace, Islam is peace” was absolute bull crap. LIAR GW LIAR... GW KNEW it was Saudi Arabia. KNEW. Yet we rightly get torqued at Hillary for lying about the Benghazi video. She was just following the track record of ALL governmental globalist hacks. Just follow the money.

I have heard Trump say WE will “repeal and replace,” as I have told you before, it is in numerous recordings all over the place... but I have never heard any statement that he is intending to “expand Obama care.” That is just plain not a true statement.

Regarding repeal however, do we actually believe that Congress will allow President Trump to sign a bill that repeals Obama care outright?

I don’t think they will give him a bill to sign to begin with. I think they will stall about building a replacement that they intend to ram down his throat and ours... and in the meanwhile Obama care will go another four years with it’s tentacles growing like a pile of maggots on a rotting corpse.

I think Donald will try to manipulate a way to kill it via exec order and the pubbies and demos will find a way to work together to ram it to him, like they intended to do to us from the git go.

That’s what I think.
Your turn...

the man who wants to extend Obama care to include everyone:

Sorry to see you've resorted to lying about what Trump wants to do. He has said over and over again he wants to "repeal and replace" the system with one where insurance companies compete privately across state lines. You are taking his comment about providing some kind of health care to those who truly can't afford it as a plan to "extend Obama care to include everyone". It's just not true.

I love Trump but congress will never pass a bill or they will fill it with so many poison pills, it will never make it to the president’s desk for years to be signed.

The corruption is too greatly entrenched.

They will not give Trump or those who elect him even ONE victory without the kind of crap bickering that now we see, even on this web site, but like a drug crazed maniac on steroids... they will block, obviscate, manipulate, lie, attack, steal, kill, destroy and subvert to keep 1/6 of our national economy UNDER their filthy little thumbs.

We need to elect a helluva a lot more than one man.
After all, we are arguing about ONE man here... the powers that be are laughing because they know exactly how many people they have under their sway at any given moment and it is not 1 or 10 or 100’s or even thousands... it is tens of thousands who they have at their beckon and call... and they will NOT give up power via one election and to one man, unless there is bloodshed.

Trust me when I conclude .... that this IS their intention. Power and control at any cost.
There will be NO HONEYMOON phase.
It will be total blitzkrieg 24hd/7dwk/52wyr/16yrs

a plan to "extend Obama care to include everyone".

At government expense.

The point is we are not talking repeal we are talking tinkering at the margins.

Ted Cruz was actually talking repeal through defunding.

Obama has used EOs to avoid enforcing immigration laws. Until Obamacare is repealed, couldn’t an EO direct the IRS to not enforce the penalty ? And weren’t some of the participation waivers done by EO ? If everyone is waivered, the law is meaningless.

I agree with you concerning the difficulties of repealing Obama care, and I wish those who mindlessly hero worship Donald Trump would consider how politics actually works.

As to Bush lying, we don't know the actual state of his knowledge because there is simply no evidence to support the idea that this is a giant conspiracy to spare the family's connection with the Saudi's. Let's wait and see what this new evidence brings in.

As to lying about Islam being a religion of peace etc. I think we should remind ourselves that 1.6 billion souls on earth are Muslim and it was no doubt a calculated position of the Bush administration, as it is the position of the Obama administration although perhaps for different less noble motives, that a distinction must be made between terrorists and the Muslim faith. So Bush declared war on terrorism instead of a war on militant Islam. I thought at the time it was fastidious and would not have much effect. But it was not a stupid approach, at least in the beginning of our reaction to 9/11.

The question remains whether Donald Trump's big mouth has converted more of the 1.6 billion potential Muslim terrorists into terrorists. We have no way of knowing. We have no way of knowing whether rallying the homefront against Muslims in general (as Trump undeniably has done although he professes to the contrary) works on balance to our advantage by waking the country up and perhaps making is more wary of permitting any Muslims to intrude the homeland.

But to call these things lies when one is stating an opinion rather than advancing a fact is wrong. Trump advanced false statements of fact.
