Trump: I would change GOP platform on abortion
CNN ^ | 04/21/16 | David Wright

Donald Trump said Thursday he would change the Republican Party platform's position on abortion to include exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.

Trump made the remarks during a town hall on the "Today" show on NBC on Thursday morning when host Savannah Guthrie asked him about abortion exceptions.

"The Republican platform every four years has a provision that states that the right of the unborn child should not be infringed," Guthrie said. "And it makes no exceptions for rape, for incest, for the life of the mother. Would you want to change the Republican platform to include the (abortion) exceptions that you have?"

"Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Absolutely," Trump said. "For the three exceptions, I would."

Currently, the Republican platform abortion policy reads: "We assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed."

Got it. Life has less meaning depending on who your parents are.

When "Joe the Plumber" looks at the 100% pro-life position with no exceptions, this is what he thinks.

What if my sweet daughter were a rape victim. Why should she be forced to carry that baby?

What if my wife were pregnant, but the pregnancy would kill her? Am I gonna let her and the baby both die?

the 100% pro-life position is noble and logical. In the real world, it prevents the cause from making any real headway. Meanwhile, many millions more die, because we won't budge.

Although I am not in favor of the exceptions for rape and incest (why would you kill the child for the crimes of the father?) and the exception to save the life of the mother is common sense, if we could get a law that limited abortion to those three exceptions, I would support it. Why? Because it would eliminate 99%+ of all abortions.

My problem with Trump's position on this is based on his own philosophy of The Art of the Deal. Trump holds the position that you always ask for a lot more at the beginning than you expect to get. So if he is willing to have this as his STARTING position on abortion, what does that say about what he is willing to accept in the end? Keep abortion legal in all cases through the first trimester? Allow sex-selection abortions? What would be his final position?

“What has any Republican done about it?” Spouted high sounding rhetoric.

If rape and abortion are going to be discussed together, why does Planned Parenthood coach young girls to lie when they’ve been raped so that PP doesn’t have to report the incident to the authorities?

why does PP protect rapists and permit them to continue their crimes?

“Are you going to condemn a woman to death if her pregnancy carries extreme risk?”

There are also many pregnancies involving fetuses that will not be viable outside the womb. Do you want the woman to carry the fetus to term? Some people need to get a reality check by talking with a local OB nurse or physician who sees these cases on a regular basis.

So if there’s a rape, the baby should be killed? What kind of sense does that make?

Mark Charles Lee USAF Colonel, a former NASA astronaut who flew on four Space Shuttle missions, is the product of his grandmother being raped. Glad he wasn’t terminated.

>>People who still think this man is a conservative...well...

No one thinks he’s a rock-ribbed Conservative. We think that he is a strong nationalist in a time when Transnational Progressives run both parties and control most corporations and banks.

You condemn millions to death camps to save the life of that one in a million abortion due to rape or incest. Because socialism plus racial/class divisions always ends with death camps.

The states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for abortions. But it seems that conservatives want the feds to use constitutionally nonexistent federal government powers to force their pro-life agenda down everybody’s throats just like the godless Democrats (thanks Ann Coulter) do with pro-abortion politics.

Oh great.

“...he numerous pro-life legislative victories led by state GOP governors and GOP state legislatures. For example, the pro-life bill passed in Texas a couple of years ago placed such onerous burdens on abortion providers that ...”

Ok you know what I mean. State leg and governors close up these places in states like Texas after people constantly stand on a street corner, people like me, marked carefully by cops

While rinse priebus and the GOP e in Washington do nothing to help

Get over it

And a great patriotic American still. He is Reagan through and through. Although he won’t sign amnesty like Reagan did.

Yeah – you might want to take a look at his history. What he says and thinks changes quite a bit over time.

And Prince does one last thing for Trump and dies just when he needs the media to report Prince 24/7 instead of Trump on the issues. Trump is one lucky dude.

And killing the baby because of rape and incest doesn’t make any sense either.

Just so folks know, Trump is suggesting the overturn of the 1984 Reagan pro-life plank, which recognizes the Fourteenth Amendment personhood of EVERY child.

The powers-that-be in the GOP have watered down that plank with stupid, immoral, unconstitutional regulatory provisions that are counter to the above, but this move by Trump destroys the Reagan plank once and for all.

And the real Donald Trump has stepped forward.

Sadly, no - this is just a small foretaste of what we will see from the real Donald Trump if he gets the nomination.

Didn’t Reagan sign an abortion law when he was governor of California?

Yes, he regretted it way before he ran for president and he never went back to his former opinion, unlike Trump who has no idea why Planned Parenthood is a vile corporation.
