TMZ is reporting that Prince has died in Minnesota.
Prince’s publicist has confirmed the news to his hometown newspaper.
The site first reported the news that authorities responded to a medical emergency at his Paisley Park home and studio on Thursday morning.
According to Carver County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud, deputies responded to Paisley Park at 9:43 a.m.

You're not alone....but at least his mediocre music wasn't rap. Something to be said for that...I guess.
I bought his first album without ever hearing it after I read an article in “Modern Recording” about him, and his ability to record, engineer, and play all the instruments on the album. I have been a fan ever since. He was 1 year older than me.
RIP, Prince.
Never was a big Prince fan, but do think he was under appreciated as a guitar player. The link you posted is a perfect illustration and gives context. Close your eyes and that Prince solo could be Hendrix.

Sadly, that’s what FR is turning into these days.
He was an amazingly talented performer and musician. Purple Rain is one of the best albums ever made. He played every instrument on it. Thank you for the music that defined my youth and to this day still takes me back to happier times.

I believe he was unable to perform under the moniker "Prince" until the contract problem was resolved.
