As I watch people get involved with dramas over this issue, I think: What is it that we are not supposed to pay attention to?
What is it that the elites, the media and the government don't want us to notice?
Is it the loss of our history and culture with the change with monies, another knife in the gut by the Obama administration?
Is it the subtlest of this election?
Is it the lousy depression like statistics in some areas of the country?
Is it the invasion of western Civ and our country in particular by forign nationals?
Is it crime committed by the same?
Is it how news goes down sinkholes? Like the San Bernardino case and others?
Is it how the left is preparing for demonstrations and government destabilization?
Is it that with these silly little dramas the important work of organizing and offering a counteroffensive to the near lethal blows to our country and culture are eliminated?
When your ten year old daughter is raped by a man in the women’s restroom, will you stil think it is trivial?

If we couldn't win that fight in the 'culture wars' who is really surprised that we lost the fight against gay 'marriage', are losing the battle on transgenderism, etc.?
The US is an ocean liner that is sinking due to high waves, fires in the engine room, a drunken pilot, food gone bad, diseased crewmen, rude passengers, etc.
Which problem do you want to fix first? Which problem is the captain trying to distract us from fixing?
If we could do one thing to right the ship it would be to make it near impossible for the federal government to deficit spend. If you can prevent the feds from doing silly things, then everyone will be forced to confront the real issues.
But that will never happen because everyone benefits from deficit spending ... until they don't.
I am mystified as to how otherwise smart conservatives wind up following these rabbit holes.

It is foolish for a state to draw this kind of untoward attention to itself, when it already has the laws to deal with any issues. Moreover, smart legislators would move to strengthen those laws covering any matters involving inappropriate behavior in public restrooms and make sure the whole world knows it.

Trump basically said leave things as they are- e.g., not a Federal issue, but for the states to decide. I do feel strongly about social issues, but I am fine with that. I don’t want the Fed involved in anything except the limited powers assigned to them by the Constitution.

Exactly. Apparently there are numerous posters on this thread who have surrendered on the "social issues" with nary a protest, yet can't understand why the juggernaut to destroy marriage, the family - even our very nature as male or female - continues unabated.
It appears that there are libertarians on this forum posing as conservatives. i.e., they care only about economic issues and have little to no interest in preserving and protecting the moral foundation of our country.
Truth be told, they could care less if all those "sanctimonious right-wing Christians" are charged with crimes, fined, and jailed (e.g. Kim Davis), so long as their own pocketbook continues to grow fatter.
They constitute a fifth-column in this forum, which stands unapologetically in defense of marriage and the family as designed and intended by our Creator.
It is disconcerting to see posters expressing the view that opposing gay marriage is a lost cause, and that the transgender bathroom issue is a non-starter, a big "ho hum" that only the "right-wing fringe" cares about. We need to focus on the "bigger issues" (i.e.,$$$$).
There is no "bigger issue" than the defense of the fundamental building block of human society: the natural family. The LGBTQXYZ movement is the tip of the spear to overturn the Judeo-Christian morality upon which this great country was built.
It is utter hypocrisy to claim to be a conservative yet claim to be unconcerned that the gaystapo fanatics will stop at nothing until all who oppose them are punished and driven to ruination. That means that your three little girls (yes I'm talking to you Chickensoup) WILL be required to share toilets, changing rooms, and showers with ANY biological male who chooses to self-identify at that moment as "female" -- regardless of any possible evil motivation.
That is why true conservatism -- and the stated philosophy of Free Republic -- is at least as concerned about "social issues" as it is with economic issues.

Agreed - on the list of issues for President Trump to address this is way down near the bottom. Let the queers go into whichever bathroom they want, kick the snot out of them if they violate your or your family’s space, then sue them for sexual harassment. This is a symptom, not a cause, don’t focus on it. Eventually businesses will be forced to designate “it” bathrooms to accommodate the freaks - in the meantime protect your own by not doing business with scum like Target.
