WASHINGTON (AP) The Latest on campaign 2016 (all times Eastern):

Donald Trump says he believes transgender people should be able to use whichever bathroom they choose.
Speaking at a town hall event on NBC's "Today" Thursday, Trump said North Carolina's so-called "bathroom law," which directs transgender people to use the bathroom that matches the gender on their birth certificates, has caused unnecessary strife.

“None of that addresses the situation I posed, which is that under the NC law, you really can’t prevent even obvious males from using female-only public facilities.”
Yeah and they did that by also including the ones whom you cant tell! That gave the LGBTQW..whatevers the opening they needed. That was pure sloppiness on NC’s part that cost everyone.
“A law that prevents at least that, even if it is not a foolproof detection device for all actual trannies, is still a heck of a lot better than no law at all.”
Not if the PR backlash gets you first. Not to mention the courts would never let this live to see 2017.
So in NC’s rush, they ended up giving these guys everything they could have hoped for.
Now NO STATE will dare even try.
This is not about that, it’s about freaks who dress up as women being alone with my granddaughters in a public bathroom. You do know it is not possible to always have a female chaperone take you kids to the bathroom?
I fully understand why you see the world the way you do.
I say protect a womans privacy first and foremost.
To give by court order a transgender male permission to use a womans restroom and locker room is to deny a womans right to privacy.
I don’t get mad at him either...because I already know that he is a liberal, unprincipled hack, and this is yet another layer of proof. This is a whole lot of shiz to put up with for the promise of a boarder fence...that he will probably hedge on once lemmings like yourself propel him to the general election. I don’t know what more proof you need to start thinking straight on this guy.
“You have a lot of reverse gears.
If it is perfectly legal for a big burly guy to enter a ladies bathroom, or locker room for that matter, and hangout (literally) what will stop dangerous perverts from doing so?”
Can you show me the part of the NC law that said that this pertained specifically to “big burly guys”?
No? They didnt write it specifically for them? Just for anyone you suspect? With no expressed way of avoiding mistakes?
Nothing at all? Not a single sentence?
Well, I guess now you can return to reality where this law was so broadly written that even a REAL female with short hair and rough skin can get the cops called on her because someone THOUGHT she was a he.
Are you so simple that you think that “big harry men” are the only examples that could ever surface?
And how is that real female going to prove it short of having someone stuff a hand down her pants or her out of some wild coincidence, produce a birth certificate?
Did you TRY to think any of this through? How these scenarios, and the potential fallout just breezed right by you is “mind-boggling”.
Actually if you read his whole comments, when asked if he would let men use the women’s room in Trump Towers he said he wasn’t sure....
Reality is the NC Law says you have to use a restroom of the gender on your birth certificate... so if you have had a sex change operation you can legally have your bc changed, and be in compliance with the law... this entire issue is just more gay mafia nonsense.
“And you want to fold too, and move on to more important things”
I prefer people in lawmaking positions to get it right the first time. Not foul it up, which is what happened.
Now outside of you getting mad on the internet. What is your plan for the bathrooms? Get more mad on the internet? Wag your finger at people?
After NC botched it. It officially became a no-win, just like when Indiana folded on the whole cake issue, just like with gay marriage where now candidate is calling for it to be banned.
DONALD TRUMP BECOMES POLITICALLY CORRECT!
Actually, that's not what I said. I said it doesn't make sense for a federal office holder/seeker to introduce legislation on restroom access in states. That is a completely different issue from a federal candidate providing moral support/encouragement/endorsement to state politicians/voters that take those actions on their own.
Trump saying it was a bad idea to do this because "it caused strife" is like waving a red flag in front of the radical left. Cause enough "strife", and guys like Trump will back down.
So yes, what Trump said actually did matter -- a lot. And, isn't one of the reasons so many people support the guy is because he's fighting against "PC", which in most cases has nothing to do with legislation at all, but rather the national culture? So clearly, you recognize the importance of a Presidential candidate taking the correct position on issues in the national culture war.
Except if Trump takes the wrong position. Then, you claim it "means nothing".
“Im sure Fat Rush will be misleading his listeners for days on this one.”
I can hear it now. It’s going to be the same as when Trump did all the flip-flopping on punishing women for abortion, and Rush spent hours defending him, because “it made all the Republicans look bad.” No, it did NOT make all Republicans look bad, it made Trump look bad. Rush is going to use this same excuse to come to Trump’s rescue.
Thing is, when Rush does this, it takes him forever, several segments, to make the defense. It’s very convoluted, and pretzel-like. It takes a lot of time and effort to come up with a defense when you don’t believe what you are saying. When you defend something that you do believe in, it takes very little time because you can come to a direct point.
Well it IS discriminatory - against the 99% of the population that do not want to urinate with the troubled people who think they are a different gender.
You keep ducking this, but it is actually the key point that explains why NC drafted the law the way it did.
So what's your answer -- how do you think it should be done? Or do you just think restrooms and facilities for either gender should be open for anyone who wants to walk in?
Poor Bruce, stuck with a guy that had real power and did absolutely nothing with it.
That’s gotta suck.
I refuse to engage in meaningless toilet humor
lol
“Okay, since you refuse to say whether or not you support limiting restroom access as North Carolina did,”
Uh...I said that I didnt agree with Trump’s position.
Again some of you cant read.
I AM saying that the NC law would be ultimately unenforceable and would get tossed out in a court case the first moment some “trans person” that was not a “big burly” guy sued.
How would I do it? The first thing is that I would work back from the crimes that could be committed by pervs.
50 years minimum to life for offensives. Rape, recording people, harassment, and so on.
(And this applies to men and WOMEN. Not sure why all the examples cited are just keeping men out as if women going into the men’s room is a big old prize.)
The key is to make the price to big for them, and to isolate the activists from trying to make it about “persecuting trans people”.
From there it gets real hard. But I would like to see a set standard put down for these people (over 18) to be required to posses an ID that certifies that they have gone through a set number of procedures and examinations where they can be “cleared” to use the other restroom. That ID must be presented at the request of the establishment if they have reasonable cause.
You cannot merely “feel”. You will have to get a license after a certain number of strict criteria are met from your state. Failure to do so will result in a hefty fine short of any sexual crime being committed if you are caught. Those people that are “serious” about wanting to be the other gender, I would think, would jump at the chance to separate themselves from sexual predators.
And even this isnt perfect as you have numerous cases of real females, mad about the lines at the restrooms, going into the men’s room. How on earth would this be tackled?
The point is that the North Carolina law seemed to not even remotely try to address the real problem and instead just chucked this out there and hoped the left would simply not notice and react.
“Please help me understand what part of expressing and applying the teachings of Jesus CHRIST in our daily walk is not Christian.
Following a fake, fraud and a charlatan like wannabe King Cruz.
How’s that?” (mkjessup)
Works for me!
No one is expecting him to make it "the centerpiece of the election." But if his idea of taking it off the table is to adopt the position and the language of the LGBT crowd, then conservatives have a right to get mad.
Not good.
