Target Corp. made it clear that transgender people in its stores are welcome to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity.
The statement Tuesday by the Minneapolis-based retailer comes amid debates in many state legislatures over restricting public restroom use to the sex listed on a person’s birth certificate.
While many of those conversations have centered around restrooms in public schools and government buildings, Target appears to be one of the first big-box retailers to take a proactive stance in declaring its position on the matter when it comes to its own restrooms.
While they may not be technically public, restrooms in stores are often the most easily accessible and widely available options outside of people’s homes and workplaces.
Target’s position also extends to its fitting rooms.
“Inclusivity is a core belief at Target,” the company said in a statement on its corporate website. “It’s something we celebrate. We stand for equality and equity, and strive to make our guests and team members feel accepted, respected and welcomed in our stores and workplaces every day.”
Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman, said it is not a new policy, but the retailer wanted to clarify its position given the questions it has received from both customers and employees amid the national debate. Executives sent e-mail to store leaders earlier this week to convey the message.
“It’s a restatement of a policy,” she said. “It’s just us being very overt in stating it.”

It’ll be the male Transgender using the ladies’ room but not female Transgender using the men’s room. In fact, what percentage of otransgendered were originally female. 1%?
They have so few shoppers that nearly everything is deep cut or on clearance.
I do NOT mistrust transgenders, the tiny tiny number of them, but I do distrust plain old perverts and believe me, the perverts will be in the filling rooms...
I demand that I be allowed to ‘go’ whenever and wherever I might be while on your premises. Restrooms are both racist and sexist and unfair to arachnids.
If I find a man in the women’s bathroom in Target, I will let them know exactly why I will never set foot in one of their stores again.

My daughter worked at Target headquarters for a couple of years after college. To see the employees walking the building, they are all pretty young. She was also the only one she knew who voted for Bush.
So Target is joining in on the war against women.
So some high school entirely male, straight, heterosexual perp can put on women’s clothes and follow my granddaughter into the Ladies Loo at Target, with a mirror and his cellphone camera?

By allowing a transgender male access to women’s restrooms and locker rooms Target is saying they do not respect a woman’s right to privacy.
Women of America rise and demand what is properly yours.
Pity the transgender male who goes into a woman’s locker room where there are ladies around in all states of undress. If my wife is there he/she may well get castrated.
Target is owned by the Dayton family in Minnesota. one of the kids is the governor of Minnesota. we call him the goofy governor. just watch him speak and you get why he is goofy. He has some serious mental health problems and a alcoholic. he is also a hunter. hmm, a Democrats, a hunter, mental health issues, he should be ban from owning a gun. he is also Hillary Clinton’s good friend. BTW Target follows all of the LGBT trends. their children departments are no longer boy or girl. blue or pink. they are gender neutral; mixed together and you cannot buy pink or blue clothing in their stores now

I definitely do not plan on ordering from them online or by phone either as that still helps their bottom line.
They (Target) need to learn that there are more of "us" than "them" and they (again, Target) have nothing for sale that (a) doesn't come from China or that (b) Walmart, Sam's, Costco, etc. doesn't offer.
