Anti-Trump Conservatives Are Embracing the Liberal Critique of the Right
New Repuplic ^ | 04/196/16 | Brian Beutler

In conventional conservative doctrine, the mainstream press and much of the new media are little more than arms of Democratic Party officialdom. Also, bigotry and misogyny are no longer widespread problems, in the right’s telling—and to the extent that they still exist, they are no more prevalent on the right than on the left.

In their efforts to stop Trump, conservatives have sidelined these and other premises about American political culture, so that the generic liberal critique of conservatism might be deployed against him and him alone.

Ifinnegan, what you are doing isn’t working.

You’re just looking more like a plant each day.

Cruz has done something we couldn’t, even if that was our initial goal, which it wasn’t.

Ted has revealed himself to be a GOPe inside man.

Says the person supporting a guy whose entire candidacy, nay, whose entire life’s biography, can be summed up as an attempt to “satisfy his overly ambitious ego and power trip”.

You might want to read this. It kind of destroys the left and GOPe's overall false narrative of Trump:

Trump supporters accept the craziest canards of the hard left.

Since when are secure borders, fiscal responsibility, strengthening the military and rebuilding the strength of America "canards of the left"?

PP does the same as many other clinics including free clinics.

We are not asking the question here of whether PP should be shutdown, they should be shutdown but that’s not the question.

The question is ‘are there any good things’ that happen in the PP clinic hellholes, and the answer is yes. There are a few good things, hardly enough for them to be funded by taxpayers.

So Trump was technically right. But his position against abortion is solid and he calls for defunding PP if they continue to do abortions.

Believe it or not, there are a substantial number of women who believe PP does good things besides abortion. It would be foolish for a political candidate to flip a finger at those women even though the candidate is strongly against abortion on demand and against funding PP if they continue to do abortions on demand.

So Trump’s position is the correct one both politically and morally.

Trump did not backtrack. His view of abortion began to change in 2010 and has solidified since. Like many Americans, he had a superficial view of the life of the unborn and he has come around. This is no different than what happens to thousands and thousands of Americans each day.

In speech after speech, press conference after conference, question after question, Donald Trump has stood strongly for life and for protection of the unborn.

It doesn’t change the fact that a conservative can oppose Trump, the GOPe and the Marxist press with equal fervor.

Not really when you look at the situation as a whole, unless you want to be blind to reality. Trump is the only taking all the punches from the Dem party, the GOPe, the enemedia, the Wall St cronies, etc, as well as the Cruz campaign. They are all on the same page against Trump. You may not want to see that but that is the reality of the situation.

You may also want to read this that a fellow Freeper put together: A FReeper discussion on the history of Trump's conservative pro-America positions

There is no criticism of Trump that precludes the existence of black racists.

“Similarly. Trump supporters accept the craziest canards of the hard left.”

Bush lied people died.

The fact is, we now know that Bush DID lie, he colluded with Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia who implored upon GWB to get his fellow terrorists 'citizens' out of the U.S. after 9/11 and the FBI was pressed into service as high priced security escorts to get the little Saudi bastards flown out of here, instead of investigating and interrogating the sons o' bitches.

Need more? How about that illustrious 'Axis of Evil' bullshit that GWB spewed during his 2002 SOTU speech? He condemned Iraq, Iran and North Korea, but he was only interested in going after Iraq because Saddam made it personal, having attempted to organize an assassination of GHWB during a visit to Kuwait. GWB wanted to pay him back, no matter the cost, and any actual real benefits were only secondary to his personal vendetta. Then there is Iran, all of that thumping his chest about "not permitting Iran to obtain a nuclear weapons capability" but what did GWB do? NOTHING. And Iran is on the cusp of obtaining that nuclear arsenal that GWB thought was so urgent to prevent.

North Korea? GWB invites a North Korean defector who authored the book 'The Aquariums of Pyongyang' to the White House to discuss what could be done to help the North Korean people, and after spending an extended period of time with Kang Chol-hwan (the author), what did GWB decide to do?

He took North Korea OFF the official State Department list of terrorist supporting nations. He actually empowered and enabled Kim Jong Il to continue his nuclear program after those vaunted "Six Party Talks" failed and flopped on their face.

There are some solid demonstrations of "Bush lying, and people dying", it might be a mantra of the left, but the fact is, truth is truth, and truth does not belong to ANY political philosophy or ideology.

Corporations and financial institutions are the cause of our problems.

Some are. Corporations that eliminate American jobs, move their operations overseas, and the financial institutions that support and empower such activities are a damn serious cause of our problems.

Planned Parenthood does good things.

Trump did say that Planned Parenthood did some good things ASIDE FROM ABORTION.

I am NO defender of Planned Parenthood, and my posting history proves that, but the truth is that organization does provide other services including birth control, long-term reversible contraception, breast and cervical cancer screening, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and vasectomies.

My personal view is that the entire organization should be shut down and investigated under RICO statutes, as it is a continuing criminal enterprise, however the above services I've cited do not rise to the level of institutionalized murder that abortion does. For the record, Trump is AGAINST abortion.

International trade and trade agreements are bad.

Some are. I'm all for FAIR trade (as is Trump) but our past agreements that have been negotiated by the globalist pack of thieves that masquerade as our "elected officials" have NOT been in our national interest.

The above data is neither left, right or middle-of-the-road. It is factual.

Happy to help.

Boogieman said

““Planned Parenthood has done very good work for many, many — for millions of women””

First Trump is Pro-Life, he did not used to be but even the biggest establishment boot licker on here cannot dispute Trumps position is Pro-life now.

So what is Planned parenthood able to do without the ability to do Abortions in all those locations strategically located in poor minority communities?

Smart people do not throw out the baby with the bath water....

Bottom line. Its dishonest to take what he said as meaning he is supporting Abortion - which is the false underlying basis Trump’s detractors use for the histrionics on this issue.

One has nothing to do with the other. Finnegan's four statements were all unattributed and lies. Provide valid statments which are truthful and I can respond.

As a Cruz supporter, you have a right to be bitter and angry. Your guy is losing badly.

Consider this for a moment: Trump is neither a liberal nor a bona-fide member of a conservative party; he is his own third party. I’m holding my nose, waiting for the fall-out.

As a developer he does what developers do every day in their work, try to entice ‘eyesore’ owners to sell, and if that doesn’t work, work with the community to use eminent domain.

Trump offered that stupid woman Vera Coking, called stupid by her own family, offered twice more at nearly $2 million for her eyesore, but she had to show the fat cats something. She showed them how stupid she was and how awful she treated the youth of her own family who would have been raised several notches in society had she done the smart thing.

Did she have a right to not sell? Of course she did. But today her family shakes their heads wondering if she had a right to be so stupid. After she died, they couldn’t sell her lot for $250,000 after the RE crash.

Most families have a crazy aunt like Vera, stupid and stubborn. Most of them understand that such relatives are a frustrating embarrassment.

Trump was gracious to that stupid woman. She won her case because he would no longer support his Atlantic City partners in trying to condemn her property via Eminent Domain.

But Jeb! shut up real quick about Trump and Coking because his family was also doing the same in lay plans to build Bush stadium.

And republicans in Congress also shut up real quick about it because the Keystone Pipeline is also of the same situation.

So go ahead and stick some Kelo up your butt about Trump. Your kind are so few, they could only help a long lost Cruz delegate sleeping under a rock in Wyoming.
