NBC's Hallie Jackson reports Cruz has changed his focus to Pennsylvania and making a play for the state's unbound delegates. Jackson, the network's Cruz correspondent, said even if Cruz has a third place finish in Pennsylvania's Republican primary, he'll win more than half the delegates.
"It's very telling that's Ted Cruz tonight is not in Brooklyn or Manhattan or any of the boroughs or state. He's in Pennsylvania," reported Jackson.
"He'll be in Philly for his watch party tonight," Jackson said. "That's indicative of where he and his campaign see this race going, to Pennsylvania, where they are looking to make a play for these unbound delegates. Even if they come in a distant third, a top campaign aide tells me, they will still, they believe, pick up more than half the delegates there."

Why on earth would an unbound delegate go with a guy who can’t even win a primary?
I don’t know all the answers to your questions but there is a general methodology that I am advocating.
Of course a “fair” system is desirable. But that is not simply most votes equates to all delegates.
The process is designed for discovery. The long process exposes who a candidate is over time and under stress.
I still wonder if we used your formula of winner take all— where would Cruz and Trump sit in delegate count?
It might favor Cruz more to have all his states count absolutely in his favor— especially Texas.
What happens to silly problems like candidates dropping out where Rubio and Kasich win states that are not really theirs.
I do not believe that a conspiracy has robbed Trump of delegates.
I believe Trump is the master of mob mentalities where he stirs up a backlash to any negative result he encounters and says “the people” are being cheated.
This is NOT a direct democracy and I would never want it to be one.
This is a Free Republic and the difference needs to be both appreciated and defended.
The country is not in an uproar yet, I think because they know Cruz-E will not succeed.. So it is kind of a wasted energy and when trump takes over he will change the rules for the next election cycle to cut-out much of the influence of the establishment...
biff, that you would not vote for Trump and allow Hillary to choose several supreme court nominees, tells us much more about you than Trump..
You know full well that it does not matter how delegates are determined - the actual delegates are party insiders.
We vote for the delegates by name on the ballot. This is pure democracy. No way to “steal” anything here. Unless you catch a delegate lying about who they’re supporting. Over 20 each have declared they’re voting Cruz or Trump at the convention already.
Each campaign has an equal shot to get their delegates voted in.
Most of the delegates are actually grassroots party activists - the people who man the phonebanks, stuff envelopes, work the GOTV efforts, etc. A certain percentage are the "insiders" - elected officials, party chairmen, etc. That is the nature of the system. If that is not the system Trump wanted to work within, he should have run as an independent, rather than as a Republican.
People who are beholden to party bosses who themselves are beholden up the establishment chain. So what they answer the phones? Hell’s Angel’s prospects do all sorts of dirty work before they are badged in - or whatever the outlaw biker term is.
Appreciate your reply, and your communication style.
Cruzers are such 'inside the box' thinkers and bean counters.
Trump has a whole different 'outside the box' rules.
And they're invisible to Cruz supports, and is how Trump is going to win this.
I didn’t state that I prefer winner-take-all in all states.
I think that a state should have the flexibility to choose WTA or WTM - and if the latter, how to apportion those delegates (i.e. by district, by state, both, whatever).
I DO, however, believe that a big change in how this is done must be accomplished - because it destroys faith in the system. When a candidate (anyone, I don’t care who it is) can win more than half of the votes, and wind up with considerably less than half of the delegates, that’s patently unfair and everyone knows it. Such a result is as damaging to the credibility of the system as the 55 MPH limit was to the concept of abiding by the law.
FYI, where Cruz has won has USUALLY been in the smaller states (TX, of course, being the huge exception), and mostly those with a caucus instead of a primary. I’m not sure that he’d be leading the delegate count if every state was WTA or WTM.
As for the >50% requirement (1,237 delegates this time around), I think that it makes sense in most cycles, as those who drop out usually do so early enough to earn only a few delegates - so it doesn’t matter what happens to their delegates. This cycle, with 17 candidates, I think that it hasn’t worked out well (so far, at least - this may change). Perhaps - PERHAPS - there should be a different rule based on how many people were in the race by, say, Janary 1 of the election year. What exactly the formula should be, I don’t know, but the subject needs to be discussed...IN THE OPEN.
The fix is also already in for the May 3 primary in Indiana. The GOP bosses met last weekend and gave 57 of the 58 delegates to Cruz, one for Trump. People vote on May 3 just for practice. Trump could win 100% of the vote and Cruz wins 99.9% of the delegates. That is fact. Same thing will happen in PA. Trump wins again but GOPe will steal the majority of the delegates for the canadian. Makes no difference how the people vote.
Well you need to prepare for reality which is going to be a big disappointment.
There was talk about Cruz being tight on cash. He’s running out of time and primaries. I don’t see Ted hanging on much longer.
No it doesn’t. You don’t know about donnie. If you want the absolute truth about him then you need to talk to the business people in NY about him. To the people whose property he practically stole for golf courses.
The business people in NY cannot stand him because he lies, cheats, bullies, manipulates, and virtually steals. THAT tells you about his character more than the BS floating around about him. Yeah, he build a multi billion dollar empire but he did it like a gangster.
Cruz is a goner. He is the only one other than his sellout sicko-phants who doesn’t know it yet.
Assuming you aren’t paid to do this what are your plans for a new hobby in a few weeks when Cruz is forced out? :-)
Yes its like the guy is just self destructive. He’s going to end up with nothing for all this time, money and effort.
I hope so. Can’t believe this douche is 30 mins away in philthadelphia. Ugh. Please leave this area.
