"The dialogue and the narrative of this campaign isn't focusing on the real issue," Trump convention manager Paul Manafort said on ABC's "This Week" Sunday. "The real issue is there's not going to be a second ballot."
"There are many paths to [a delegate majority] for Donald Trump, between now and middle of June," Manafort said. "We are working all of those paths." .
.
.
"The states that we just finished this was the time when Cruz was supposed to be ahead," Manafort said. "With Cruz, he wins the reddest of red states, where you get voterless primaries, where the rules favors organization versus appeal to the voters."
"Trump wins in states that we have to win the presidency," Manafort said.

I’m inclined to let them think for themselves.
You are correct and very good post ...Manafort is an old school fixer and he will be amazing to watch ... Manafort , Stone, and Atwater all worked together and were the best in the business ...it’s no wonder the Cruz Cult is panicking and attacking Manafort ..they don’t even know who he is , but their Cruz Cult leaders told them to attack and here they are , attacking ...how dare Trump try and stop Cruz/GOPe from stealing the nomination ...
Cruz (PBUH) is seeing his poll numbers cratering everywhere that people actually vote. It’s over. He’s an ex parrot, pining for the fjords.
I find it interesting that the GOP always looks to 1976 as the last time a primary was stolen. How’d that work out? Like ford, if Cruz steals the nominee we will see the same outcome. A democratic win by Hillary as carter won.
And they won.
and that’s exactly what we’re doing when we decide that we can’t do worse with Trump than the same ol’ same ol’
What do you mean? Do you have confidence in these voterless primaries?
You bet. Manafort is 100% no nonsense with Trump as the boss. I only hope they underestimate him, like they did with Trump.
Last I saw Bob was in early March when he was double triple guaranteeing that Cruz could reach 1237 and win on the first ballot. Before that he had a bi-monthly gig where he was guaranteeing Trump had gone too far and his campaign was finished...that string of gigs had kept him employed for months.
I don't think Baghdad Bob has shown much interest in the Trump Train, he keeps talking about how its about to crash.
Why did you not copy Jim Robinson with that remark?
You bet! i am going to throw the biggest party when Trump is elected. I will celebrate for a week.
Yeah, Obama won.
If the GOP fought the Democrats as hard as they fight Trump, they wouldn’t be facing-off with their base now.
Go Trump, win win win.
>> If Trump doesnt win on the first ballot, and Cruz doesnt win on the second ballot, who would you rather have win on a subsequent and final winning ballot?
I want Cruz first, I would settle Trump second, period. How many ballots it takes for either one to prevail is irrelevant.
Manafort is not in his 70s. He is 67.
Go right ahead. I doubt he’ll care.
“.........you really are as bad as the Obama folks in 08.”......
Are we or are we not ALL fighting to win the presidency? Or, are we here trying to pull a “one upsmanship” on the who may or may not be representing us come November?
In Rodney King’s words, “Can’t we just all get along?”
I was replying to a guy who called me a Cruz Cultist; my gosh, is this the NHL. where the second guy in always gets the penalty?
Yes, i know that, but what i was trying to ask was this: IF Cruz was out of the picture somehow, would you rather have Trump or the GOPe’s pick?
Why i’m asking: If we assume the GOPe really does hate Cruz like they claim, it’s logical to conclude they will drop him at the convention and try to install someone else as their guy. Romney is my best guess, but we’ll see. (This is all based on if trump doesnt get to 1237). It’s not a trick question; it’s a sincere question, for all Cruz supporters, really, because i don’t understand why yall trust the GOPe. I’m trying to understand why you trust that the GOPe won’t doublecross him the minute he helps them complete their mission of denying Trump the 1237.
Sounded confident to me - and with more reason than the Cruz faction that has to rely on the GOPe (that he claims to despise) in a slim hope of getting the nod because, unlike Trump, he isn't in position to win anything - just be awarded the dregs from the dust pan if he can stop the People from having the candidate they want - ironic for the "Conservative Champion of the People" - no?
