As a stout, constitutionally minded conservative I am, of course, a Cruz supporter. As a person who has worked and saved all my life toward my recent retirement, I am adamantly anti socialist, hence, anti Democrat, anti establishment, and I am ok with Trump. I would prefer that Cruz wins, but if either of the two becomes our next president I will celebrate.
The current Trump/Cruz divisions on our side of the political spectrum, and the rancor, is distressing. But perhaps theres another way to look at things, for beyond the election.
Cruz has already demonstrated a bulldog effort to counter the elite. Trump has expressed a huge desire to fix their screwups. Both accuse the other of dirty tricks in the campaign and the two factions are busily attacking one another, to our combined detriment.
Face it. No one is going to make a dent in the establishment without the ability to use the tools at hand to his utmost advantage. Nice guys wont be able to compete with the likes of our current Federal Government occupants. We will need ruthlessness. The dirty tricks are, if you will, training for dealing with the real enemy, whos strength and underhandedness has been so formidable.
With Cruzs knowledge of constitutional law and his persistence in fighting for us, as already demonstrated, and his ability to work establishment primary rules to his advantage show us he goes not toothless into the fray. Trumps unabashed political incorrectness and his ability to derail the media and flummox the establishment indicate strength and resolve. His ability to turn disadvantage into advantage shows cunning. Both candidates are willing to fight back as necessary and both, amplified by the bully pulpit and a broad popular support, could do wonderful things for we who want our country back. Any other candidate, on either side, would be the usher of greater decline.
Were at a three way fork in the road. One fork leads to, and over, a cliff. The other two take us elsewhere, to be determined in future history, but certainly away from the cliff.
I profess that I dont really know what will motivate trump if elected. Im pretty sure what will motivate Cruz if elected, as it has been demonstrated to me under fire in the Senate. Im absolutely certain as to what will motivate any other Republican or Democrat if elected. The establishment elite in both parties, and their cronies across the huge bureaucratic landscape, will do everything in their power to derail or coerce either Trump or Cruz both before the election and especially if one of them is elected, because the path to the cliff is gilded with gold, roses and waiting parachutes for them. We cant have that.
If we think about it, perhaps, in that light, maybe we can focus on making sure that one of the two good alternatives becomes the candidate, swallow our bile if our guy loses, whoever our guy is, and support the winner. The combined Trump/Cruz grass roots support is a powerful voting block and is as impervious as has ever been to the establishment media assault complex.
Never Trump, if not Cruz, or Never Cruz, if not Trump, are not wise philosophies at this point in the game. Either candidate marks a decided change from the path were currently on. That is a good thing. One of them absolutely must be our next president.
.
Trump and Cruz are very close to even in actual vote count.
Trump has more delegates due to winner take all states.
.
Cruz has feet of clay.
That is absurd. He made enemies in the Senate because he alone was willing to fight for his principles and to take on Obama. He fought for conservative values in the Supreme Court. And now he is fight daily to win the nomination while Trump seems unwilling to fight the battle at the local and state level.
.
This was the theme line:
>> “He may have business experience, but unless the United States plans on going bankrupt, it’s experience we don’t need.” <<
By Jove, I think he’s got it!
Perfect sense. I am a Cruz guy but am ok with a Trump. Unfortunately, that gets you flamed by the trump astroturfers
Trump will demolish Hillary because even Democrats want jobs and she’s incapable of delivering.
Cruz has become “true to his own arrogant, narrcistic self,” and perhaps we should be grateful that he has exposed his true character. Like you, I sent money to Cruz early on, but after Mr. Trump entered the race, I soon realized that we needed a businessman outsider, free from Washington political crooks and free from the strings of the Big Donors.
Thank you so much for posting this. It is so aligned with what I think that I could have written something similar myself. The only thing that matters is saving this country. The circular firing squad is ridiculous and self destructive. We’ll not find a perfect human anywhere on this planet. We must work with what we have and it is way better than the snot balls we’ve been served up in previous election cycles.
I am skipping over several of the comments. The haters just can’t stop themselves, it would seem. I’m pretty sure they either didn’t read your piece, or didn’t understand it. “Conservative” obviously doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone.
I agree.
Able Men: Man of accomplishment. Cruz is zero for zero in Senate (GOPe’s mole)
That fear God: Moses would have thrown Cruz out on his butt after getting the weird rising priest messianic anointing from Beck.
Love the Truth: Where do I start? Let’s just start at Iowa cheaTED.
Hate Covetousness: Goldman Sachs is Cruz’s sugar daddy.
Sad.
Pointless to debate with a poster who is pugnacious, arbitrary and capricious.
Many fine people are attorneys including my nephew and Justice Scalia.
Makes perfect sense - it would be helpful if Cruz stopped playing spoiler and helping to put the nomination process in the Establishment’s hands though - it will be much harder to vote for him if he ends up with the nomination than to vote for Trump at this point - especially when many of us believe he has so alienated so much of his base that he is unlikely to prevail in the General.
Ted sCruz is constantly lying to the people. He embarrasses himself when he does it. I can’t even stand to watch him any more. He was my guy before Trump entered the race. His supporters have so much anger and hate it’s awful.
Ted sCruz is done. He not a conservative, he’s a phony.
Coming late to this thread, I saw the same thing when I read that post! Good catch.
Ted Cruz is a member of a bizarre religious cult.
His preacher father, who once fought along side Castro, has stated that his son was anointed to distribute the wealth,(?!)
and his preacher father welcomed a radical to speak in his church about KILLING HOMOSEXUALS (!)Advocating Killing ANYone is not Christian. (Google it all)
With Cruz voting record, Senate attendance record, membership in a bizarre religious cult, lack of experience/
credentials/accomplishments, history of lying and dirty tricks plus his EXTREME DISLIKE by almost all who know him, will be made a laughing stock by the witch and the rats.
They will DESTROY him.
I don’t know about you people, but I’m sick of foreigners with sealed records- and yes, Cruz’ records ARE SEALED
.
Donald, not being PC crippled like all the rest, (which he has proven time and again) and knowing all the dirt on the witch, will SLAUGHTER her.
Donald, with a history of brilliantly running his businesses, CAN run this country. He will surround himself with brilliant cabinet members and advisors as only he could do.
SO- he once proclaimed himself a Democrat. So did Reagan.
Donald WILL secure our open borders and investigate/deport the dangerous muslim colonists Obama has imported by the thousands.
OUR LONGED FOR REVOLUTION AGAINST THE CORRUPT ADMINISTRATION, CORRUPT VOTING SYSTEM AND CORRUPT POLITICIANS IS HERE AND IS BEING LED BY DONALD.
He hears WE The People and shares our anger and concern.
He is owned by no one.
He is one of us..billions be d^mned.
He is our voice. He is an AMERICAN who loves his country.
WE MUST NOT LET HIM DOWN.
God always uses less than perfect people, every time. But the point is that we will suffer God's wrath for the folly of our leaders. We should never choose men that don't fear God. They can't be trusted.
God often chooses people who did not fear God to do His will/purpose all through the Bible.
Why on earth do you think you or I would know better what God is thinking and doing than God?
What makes you think God doesn’t find us where we are at and use us?
As an example, Reagan was a great President and considered less religious with divorce than Carter who did everything from consult with his little daughter amy about nuclear bombs to bowing before our enemies and confessing lusts we didn’t need to know about?
I think Donald far more than Cruz has skills.
I think Trump has far more genuine empathy for people than Cruz who disenfranchises them.
I think God has already been touching Trump’s heart on the topic of abortion and else where. Meanwhile you get Ted in public being prayed over by dad, which should send you running for the hills.
Donald is a tough leader and business guy, a workaholic with a vision of what major things we need to change. He also can get a lot of people (voters) to act. Bathe opposite is true or Ted.
Even Christ helped a criminal on the Cross next to him reach salvation before they died.
I put my faith in God, but especial be guarded against so called religious candidates who stop people from voting, who conspire with political problem people and whose great ambition for power seems insatiable.
Trump said if he loses he will go back to building.
The will and voting of the people are being thrashed in at least a small part if not more so by Cruz or his operatives. To me this is like being a good pro-choice Christian. Same morality involved IMO.
“You sound so sure but in polls you candidate loses by far to Hilary. Hilary will make mincemeat out of him in debates by playing the fainting female to his boorish behavior - it already worked once for her in the senate race. Im not buying that Trump beats Hillary.”
If you can name a few neutral pollsters who arent part of the Establishment, maybe i could believe those type of polls. But you can’t because they’re run by corporations and media conglomerations who have a vested interest in an eventual pro-Establishment outcome.
Kenny, that was a wonderful reply up there about the liklihood of the GOPe wanting to advance their globabalist agenda with TPP. And for the life of me, i dont understand why ppl can’t see all the red flags surrounding Cruz and his GS wife. This is the most important election of our lifetimes because if we dont stop the illegal immigration, it may very well be the last one we could ever hope to win.
Wgflyer, thanks for the thoughtful thread. But i’m just not sure i could vote for a faux Christian globalist who masquerades as a “God-fearing constitutional conservative.” He is not genuine, and that’s actually more dangerous than an identified enemy such as Hillary. At least with her i know up front that her goal is the abolishment of our national sovereignty; with Cruz, you wouldnt know until the knife is sunk in your backside.
Trump is brash and often obnoxious and so much more, but he has a good heart and stands up for his belief system, even standing all alone if neccesary. Did you ever read about the time yrs ago when some local FL ordinance was stopping him from flying his American flag at MarA Lago so he fought and fought and fought for what was right?
That’s what we need at this particular time in our history. Someone who won’t fold when everyone is screaming at you to fire your ‘Corey Lewandowski.’
Great job. Spoken like a true 5th generation Texan!
The Uniparty is circling Social Security and Medicare like vultures at the moment.
Trump is the only one who has said he will not pull out on the government’s social security agreement with retirees. I don’t know if you need Social Security, but if you do, vote for Trump.
Thank you, dear.
