Trump or Cruz
vanity | 17 April 2016 | wgflyer

Posted on 04/17/2016 6:35:15 PM PDT by wgflyer

As a stout, constitutionally minded conservative I am, of course, a Cruz supporter. As a person who has worked and saved all my life toward my recent retirement, I am adamantly anti socialist, hence, anti Democrat, anti establishment, and I am ok with Trump. I would prefer that Cruz wins, but if either of the two becomes our next president I will celebrate.

The current Trump/Cruz divisions on our side of the political spectrum, and the rancor, is distressing. But perhaps there’s another way to look at things, for beyond the election.

Cruz has already demonstrated a bulldog effort to counter the elite. Trump has expressed a huge desire to fix their screwups. Both accuse the other of dirty tricks in the campaign and the two factions are busily attacking one another, to our combined detriment.

Face it. No one is going to make a dent in the establishment without the ability to use the tools at hand to his utmost advantage. Nice guys won’t be able to compete with the likes of our current Federal Government occupants. We will need ruthlessness. The “dirty tricks” are, if you will, training for dealing with the real enemy, who’s strength and underhandedness has been so formidable.

With Cruz’s knowledge of constitutional law and his persistence in fighting for us, as already demonstrated, and his ability to work establishment primary rules to his advantage show us he goes not toothless into the fray. Trump’s unabashed political incorrectness and his ability to derail the media and flummox the establishment indicate strength and resolve. His ability to turn disadvantage into advantage shows cunning. Both candidates are willing to fight back as necessary and both, amplified by the bully pulpit and a broad popular support, could do wonderful things for we who want our country back. Any other candidate, on either side, would be the usher of greater decline.

We’re at a three way fork in the road. One fork leads to, and over, a cliff. The other two take us elsewhere, to be determined in future history, but certainly away from the cliff.

I profess that I don’t really know what will motivate trump if elected. I’m pretty sure what will motivate Cruz if elected, as it has been demonstrated to me under fire in the Senate. I’m absolutely certain as to what will motivate any other Republican or Democrat if elected. The establishment elite in both parties, and their cronies across the huge bureaucratic landscape, will do everything in their power to derail or coerce either Trump or Cruz both before the election and especially if one of them is elected, because the path to the cliff is gilded with gold, roses and waiting parachutes for them. We can’t have that.

If we think about it, perhaps, in that light, maybe we can focus on making sure that one of the two “good alternatives” becomes the candidate, swallow our bile if our guy loses, whoever our guy is, and support the winner. The combined Trump/Cruz grass roots support is a powerful voting block and is as impervious as has ever been to the establishment media assault complex.

Never Trump, if not Cruz, or Never Cruz, if not Trump, are not wise philosophies at this point in the game. Either candidate marks a decided change from the path we’re currently on. That is a good thing. One of them absolutely must be our next president.

Sorry but the utter stench coming off Cruz at this point is overpowering

Watching Cruz im so strongly reminded of the Dem tactics in the Senate to ram through Obamacare ...do we all remember the total sleaziness of that ?..

Cruz tactics in capturing delegates is the same with the same excuse the dem used .”just following the rules” excuse (” just following the rules” is a few step down from the “just following orders” excuse.. but sure is in the same family)

it’s a true stain on the Republic... this is one the lowest point in the history of conservatism in this country ...Cruz is a disgrace and probably be in the end one of the most damaging figures on the history of the conservative movement...Cruz is a cancer on conservative...this will not end well..

I agree, mind you Cruz was my first choice and I had donated four times to that guy.

I have to see some major weasel action and shady stuff to drop him like the flu.

Cruz is something you get over, not select to the Republican nomination.

Thank you. Good points, good post . . . and good luck with that!

Cruz and Trump are both imperfect but they agree far more than 80% of the time (see my tagline from Ronald Reagan). They should be friends and allies, and we should treat both of them as such.

Motion is relative. It appears to me that the GOP elites are warming to Cruz — and holding their nose in the process. They really don’t like him because he made them look really bad in their limp wristed opposition to the Dear Leader.

I’m happy. The only two guys I trust in the White House are the only two guys left standing.

I ignore the Noise Machine. I know who these two guys are, because I knew who they were the day before they started campaigning for president.

I prefer Cruz, because he is the constitutionalist and has been his whole life. And he fights. I like Trump, because he is granite on national sovereignty even if he is shaky on other things. He is a doer. And he fights. One of these two is going to be the next president of the United States.

I haven’t been this optimistic in a long time.

Of course, your sincere attempt at unity makes sense.

I will only add that some members professing #neverTrump and #neverCruz might be looking for new online homes dependant upon who preferably WINS or who wins captures the GOP Nomination.

Trump/Cruz (if only)

Let me tell you my story. I was impressed with Cruz on the floor against obamacare and the budget. I was moved. I was conned. He is not for the people. He doesn’t want the people. He made a Faustian bargain with the Karl Rove establishment to screw the will of the people. Last week he lost 11% in the national poll on Faux. That amounted to 1 out of 4 of his sheep getting the hell out. Go TRUMP.

Ted and his cult believe he is annoited by God

Whoever wins is anointed by God, that's how we'll know.

I believe Cruz fears God. I believe Trump, Kasich, Clinton and Sanders do not. I could be wrong on any account but not likely.

The question is, do the American people fear God? I suspect probably not. In which case, who gets elected probably does not matter much. God always wins.

Psalm 2
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

I was for the Trump\Cruz ticket, but I get the impression you are going to see Cruz get this to the party elites instead of doing what I would consider unifying for the people.

Just think, if Trump and Cruz could get it together they would be an example of overcoming great separations and could suggest they could work that way for the country.

Now, do really see Cruz who has millions of less votes less than Trump looking to unify?

That is where I think we are.

Dear God, look how great that God fearing Carter ended up being compared to that divorced Reagan.

Keep in mind God has used far less than perfect people.

“With Cruz’s knowledge of constitutional law”

Born in Canada to a Cuban father, claims natural born status, and we are supposed to believe he has a strong knowledge of the consitution?! Funny.

You sound so sure but in polls you candidate loses by far to Hilary. Hilary will make mincemeat out of him in debates by playing the fainting female to his boorish behavior - it already worked once for her in the senate race. I’m not buying that Trump beats Hillary.

.
Don’t forget that Hillary has Trump’s FBI file.

It would be a constant fusillade day by day in the general election.

Brilliantly written, withering, piece on Trump by Garry Kasperov in the NY Daily News, which has endorsed Kasich. I wish we could replace Putin with a President Kasperov.
