With Mondays tax filing deadline looming over many Americans weekends, Sen. Elizabeth Warrens new bill may seem like a godsend.
The Massachusetts Democrat introduced legislation Wednesday that would allow U.S. taxpayers to have the government do their taxes for themfor free.
The conveniently timed Tax Simplification Act of 2016 would direct the IRS to develop a free, online tax preparation and filing service, using tax information the IRS already has, which Americans could choose to use to have their taxes filed directly with the government, instead of using a third-party service, such as TurboTax.

Better yet, just have your employer send your paycheck to the IRS and the IRS can pass on to you what they think you deserve.
Now there’s an idea. The ultimate simplification.
I’m sure it’s occurred to them.
This is designed to eliminate local accounting firms that specialize in tax preparation and accounting for individuals with complicated returns and small businesses.
Fake Injun Sqwaw must not pay any taxes (maybe Injun sqwaws are exempt, being citizens of Injun tribes???)
how in Hell does she imagine the govt can fill out your taxes for you, when the govt doesn’t know what data to enter for any of your possible expenses, deductions, allowances, credits, or whatever the hell you may have to enter
(ps: there are free tax filing services all over the place, too... check your local high school, college, or library)
then we can get rid of folks making those pesky deductions for charities and the charities can become state supported just like that ought to be supported.

Olshevik Confiscaion Act
Bolshevik
Wait, where have I heard this idea before?
If it is, and remains, an option - maybe so. It WOULD bring in more revenue, as the IRS would have no incentive to save you money.
Well, this could appeal to some people.
I would be reluctant to let the IRS do my tax returns, because I know I’m entitled to certain deductions and exemptions under the law. I don’t think the average IRS bureaucrat who would oversee your returns is aware of many of them. Bottom line — you would end up paying more in tax than you do now, unless you and/or your CPA claim said deductions/exemptions. Bottom line is that it could still be well worth it to pay a good CPA to prepare your returns, and risk an audit, rather than let the IRS do it.
Fat squaw cheatum people.
this only make sense for people who work in the government all their life
And I think Fauxahontas should kiss my ass, too.
1. How much did you earn last year?
2. Send it all in.
Yup, great idea. The NAZI Fox in charge of the Hen House and the NAZI Fox allows the Hens just enough food to stay alive. What could go wrong?
Why doesn’t Fauxahontas try it out on herself first? She’s one of those privileged elite— would never effect her if such rules were implemented.
That’s pretty much what withholding is.
