On Thursday, Corey Lewandowski, the campaign manager for Donald Trump, was cleared of simple battery charges by Florida prosecutors. Police charged Lewandowski after reporter Michelle Fields, who at the time was with Breitbart News, accused him of grabbing her while she asked Donald Trump a question during an event in early March. Fields resigned her position following the incident.
Lewandowski, speaking to Blake Burman of the FOX Business Network, explained what happened that night in Florida and said he tried to get in touch with Fields.
“I picked up the phone and I called Michelle,” Lewandowski said. “I wanted to find out what happened because I didn’t know what happened because I never heard from her. To this day the campaign’s never heard from her. She never once called and said ‘hey, this took place. I’d like to go and resolve this issue. I don’t want to make this a story.’ None of that ever took place. But because I saw what the Twitter feed was saying, I said ‘jeez, let’s find out what’s going on.’”
The campaign manager said he turned over his phone records to the district attorney’s office in Florida in order to prove he made the calls that evening.
“I never heard back [from Fields],” Lewandowski said. “The [Trump] campaign never heard back. And I think what we could have done, if she didn’t want to become the story here, is have a private conversation saying ‘this is what I think occurred.’”

Personally I don’t care what Cruz or Kasich. What bothers me is that a man who calls himself a ‘true conservative’ would so quickly throw his own under the bus over such accusations from a political enemy with a history of false accusations.
I am just glad Trump stood by his guy who did nothing wrong and showed he won’t bend to political pressure like the others would have.
Oh dear. How terrible. I guarantee that happens in EVERY press scrum to get an interview or a sound bite from a candidate or a celebrity.
The woman is an obvious drama queen, and like a whole lot of 21st century "reporters," more interested in getting her name in the papers than getting an actual story.
Um, not! There were quite a few Freepers saying that since the girls were in a commercial they were fair game.
What is rarely said is the secret service told her TWICE to get away from Trump.
I've already said that (1) my analysis of the video is consistent with her statement, so (2) yes.
The issue, to me, has nothing to do with Fields. It's the fact that both Trump and Lewandowski LIED about it. I don't trust anyone who's first reaction to a situation is to LIE. I will simply NEVER trust a statement from either of them.
That's simply not true. Fields has been consistent all along. The only liars have been Trump and Lewandowski.

That's a strange comment. The whole point of Trump's campaign is to put an end to politics as usual. You're saying you can forgive campaigns that don't strive to raise the standard?
No. The HUGE issue is there is a portion of the press corps who do things EXACTLY like this to get themselves some ink. If it wasn’t Lewandowski, it would have been someone else. I know you probably have Ted Cruz posters on your wall, but you can still easily look up this woman’s background and see she’s done it before.
She probably would have done it in the Cruz press scrum if she had been assigned to cover Cruz. Stop kidding yourself.
And ms.Fields told the police that she never touched Donald Trump but the video proved she did. Did she also lie?
Long after the Cruz Superpac bribes are spent, Levin and Beck etc etc., and this list of formerly promising female journalist, will carry for the rest of their lives the shame of their words in the Michelle Fields affair trying to destroy an innocent man before the exculpatory evidence was fully in to completely exonerate him.

I really believe they thought they were bulletproof and would be protected by the men they slept with to get to the positions they were in (like Megyn Kelly and Brit Hume....eweeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!)
Uh...no. Haven't you seen the FEC documents proving the Cruz superpacs have been paying millions for favorable coverage by the "conservative" media? You've got a lot of reading to do to catch up. This was a hit on Trump, one of many financed by the Cruz Superpacs.
Somewhat, yes.
It has ever been so. Frankly, the election race between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, or between Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams were far, far worse than Trump versus Cruz.
If the people were moral, and the journalists told the truth, then dirty tricks would be more exposed, and the trickster campaigns would be punished by the voters.
Kind of like natural selection weeding out the deformed freaks or the dumb.
In other words, I might not like the mud slinging and tricks, but is its VERY American, historically.
This assumes Corey knew Fields. If he didn’t know Fields, its not a lie
Corey said he didn’t remember this incident because to him it wasn’t an issue at all, he brushed by her and moved her aside, nothing more.
Do you all remember brushing by someone at a black Friday store sale or a crowded concert?
It’s the same thing, he didn’t know who she even was. The guys around hundreds of people and press every day at Trump events. How is he suppose to remember one little victim media attention slim ball?
