Trump’s The One
American Thinker ^ | April 16, 2016 | Bill Schanefelt

Posted on 04/16/2016 12:07:37 PM PDT by Kaslin

This year’s singularly perverse presidential race -- on both sides -- perfectly illustrates Mr. Dooley’s observation that “Politics ain’t beanbag.” In fact, in almost makes action in the Roman Coliseum seem gentle by comparison!

AT contributor Jack Cashill describes this race succinctly in his compelling article here: “The respective campaigns are vulgar, crass, sleazy, and dishonest ….”

However, having looked away from the gore and closed my ears to the cacophony, I am supporting Donald Trump given the alternatives. but I think a look at the current state of play is in order before I attempt to justify my acceptance of a billet in Trump’s camp.

To the Mainstream Media, the GOP establishment, and much if not most, of the conservative commentariat, Trump is an abhorrence and a monumental electoral disaster-in-waiting. To be sure, they all may have it just right, but, as Rush Limbaugh says repeatedly, individuals or groups that hold those and similar notions about Trump understand neither the man nor the message, and they certainly do not understand the force behind Trumpmentum.

To name just three men who know, like, and respect him, Trump, the man, is to Rush, Newt, and Rudy an honest, decent, talented person who would be good for the country. Now, none of the three have said so in those words, but that is the take-away I have from what they say about him.

And, I further think, those three and I believe that the message is not “Make America Great Again,” but “I can get it done.”

The driving force behind Trump’s appeal is that people are sick of and intensely angry at all politicians, establishments, and circumstances that have placed them in the midst of the sorry state of affairs extant today.

Probably so, and be as disgusted with him as I am with all the other GOPe frauds I’ve voted for in the past.

Certain Freepers will need a change of underwear when Trump overwhelmingly takes New York this Tuesday.

Then also again when Trump passes 1,000 delegates on April 26th. By then, it will be all over but the whining.

Oh, I think we "certain Freepers" are pretty much resigned to the fact that the Trump cult of personality will continue to dominate the primaries.

Knowing that a disaster is about to happen shouldn't stop us from trying to warn off the hordes that are cheering on the disaster.

Oh, I'll vote for Trump in the general, for all the good it will do. He's still a better choice than Clinton or Sanders.

We’re going down no matter what, but at least with Trump, it will be entertaining.

Trump needs a “Charm Offesive” to conect with women. Maybe some “Fireside Chats” From Trump Tower—tell of his plans to help women—with Jobs. Equal Pay could be a focus. Show how he will improve the lot of women and minorities.

Every caller that Beck and Levin put on the air serves their purposes. They choose which Trump supporters to use.

The most cogent thing I have seen yet comes from our own Jim Robinson, who really should post this on its own, it deserves wider distribution

John Kasich beating Cruz solidly in all Northeastern states. He may very well end up with the VP slot that Cruz has pissed away.

I can't wait until Tuesday night, and the Tuesday after that, to hear Ted Cruz desperately trying to spin his multiple third place finishes.

If Ted Cruz is going to leave this many delegates on the table, in these populous states, he can have all the fun he wants with his GOPe-enabled delegate thefts in Colorado and Wyoming.

On balance, the net advantage for these GOP delegate-rigging episodes goes solidly to Donald Trump.

Conservative, Showman, Rino. Make your choice wisely.

I'll take the conservative showman, as opposed to the unprincipled, uncharismatic conservative who has inexplicably cast his lot with the GOPe.

It is no wonder you support the Trumpster. You are both clueless and fit for each other

You just so convinced me, now I'm going to surely vote for Cruz, and surely everyone else here will change their minds with that kind of persuasive argument......

Are you kidding ? Even if Trump gets 90 out of 95 delegates, they will claim he “underperformed”.

My first thought as well. That or faux Trump supporters trying to make genuine supporters sound irrational.

At some point he will get all those MO delegates assigned as well

Trump over 1000 in 10 days is quite doable and that RNC guy...Evans.. on Fox tonight said over 1100 and he’s locked

Over 1000 and he’ll have to make deals

Under 1000 it’s contested convention time

Evans was floating the reality

It wasn’t without design...the GOPe can see Trump is likely to have at least 350 more votes than Ted
