Make no mistake here. Cruz is proposing a VAT add-on to the existing personal income tax system.
The only plus side of a VAT is that it eliminates local and state taxes. A community gets X-amount of the tax created, and that’s it. If you want more...they have to generate a higher property tax.
The definition of Conservative has changed since Reagan. They couldn’t beat Reagan so they stole his label.
When those two little girls are with their parents, they don't want ANYTHING to do with them, pull away from them, make faces, misbehave, act bratty, and look sullen; especially the older one.
SPOT ON!
yes indeed. again, thanks for the information, and thanks to the author of the article. it is hard data about cruz and his thought processes.
rare, objective data on which one can actually base an evaluation. it’s the accumulation of these kinds of posts on FR that build up one’s knowledge to a point where a good decision is possible about a candidate.
again, thanks. i hope you repost over several days.
What Cruzs VAT tax proposal does, is give credence to Heidi's plan for a North American Union... and given Ted's dad's religious views, what better methodology to fund the priesthood via a VAT tax... The VAT tax is the most corrupt tax system ever plotted. The uniparty is going for a North American Union.. I am yet to be convinced they will be stopped.
I have seen comments to that effect...so that is a true story?
Hmmm..
Not really a huge Cruz supporter but let me ask this:
If it replaces the business tax of 34 % with a 10 % tax and it is applied to the full price of any import, does it not effectively do exactly what Trump was with regards to making US business more competitive with Tariffs?
say the VAT is 15 percent. So Ford when it sells a car adds 15 % to the added value of the car it sells (deducting labor and parts), not on the entire cars cost, just the value added.
But Honda, which is making the car overseas has to add the VAT to the entire cost of the product, as it has not been taxed at all prior.
Combined with the lower business tax rate of 10 % it would make US business much more competitive, or so I would think.
Also if not applied to overseas sales, it would make US exports much more competitive, as there would be no VAT tax applied to exports.
Feel free to correct me if there is an error in my judgment, but having ben involved in selling US good into the EU, the VAT tax is one of the ways they make us goods less competitive.
Also, while I do not think Cruz can get a flat rate of 10 %, if he can get under 15 % and apply that to all income regardless of source it would make more tax payers which would move things in the right direction.
Not that I am a huge Cruz fan, but to be honest for the first time I see a means by which his economic plan might be very good for us businesses. I may have to eat some crow from Cruz fans I have said that Cruzes plan offers nothing to Northeastern middle class folks.
Feel free to correct me if there is an error in my thinking.
When I post to your post, it has your nic in the "TO" box. So you pick a post, erase the person's nic and replace it with mine. :-)
Or, you can just drop me a note in FRmail. :-)
Cruzs VAT tax is not about sovereign USA ....

Whoops! We forgot to include the VAT in the TPP

I was appalled at the way the girls acted at the town hall. You would think that girls who had been raised in the church would have learned to sit queitly, with legs down, like young ladies, when in a situation like that town hall. It shows a total lack of parenting. Had it been my kids behaving that way I’d of been devestated...that older one even got up and was walking around during the interview on stage...OYI;/
You've been here long enough to have been able to read the original FLAT TAX & VAT V. FAIR TAX threads, but obviously you didn't and it also never occurred to you to find out about Cruz's tax plan on your own.
Do you understand the topic now? If so, good. If not, then ask an actual, query and don't play the damned "victim"!
I heard her say so, with my own ears, last week, whilst being interviewed on T.V.!
The Cruz Vat does not eliminate local and state taxes. No no no
By the By, it occurs to me that with social security taxes of 7.65 % the effective rate of direct taxation would be 17.65 %, not far off what working folks pay today, or even higher if all deductions were removed. The VAT tax would draw a lot more at the low end, less at the high end than currently.
the tax burden would be shifted downward, as very rich folks spend less of there disposable income on things.
That said, we do need to have every one paying something into the kitty. One of the best ideas I ever heard was to tax welfare benefits like pay, that way the folks whining for more stuff see their check go down when taxes are raised to pay for it. Might help change the electorates view of stuff.
In any case I do see those defects, what about the analysis it would make US businesses more competitive with the rest of the world? any error in that?
There's a thread here, tonight, that claims that many have been PAID OFF ( WHICH IS ILLEGAL! ), but I don't know if it is 100% true or not.
For whatever reason, Ted is being "protected" and has been from day one. *shrugs*
For my part, I have tried, repeatedly, both here and in REAL LIFE, to get the word out, but I'm just one person and until this thread, had NO backup/help with this tax and Vat stuff.
I did not mean to convey that it would... My point was, that Cruzs VAT tax is by designed NOT for a sovereign USA ... and given lying Ryan is in bed with Cruz, the VAT tax has a greater chance of getting legislated than the ‘carrot’ flat tax.

I didn’t know about this until this post. Unbelievable, Cruz just gets worse and worse.
Keep posting, Facebook and Twitter is about all we can do. Maybe Lou Dobbs, Laura Ingram... UGH
The 10% tax has nothing to do with businesses, that is for individual’s income tax. Everyone has to pay a 10% income tax...The 16% tax will be applied to EVERY product and service that is sold in the USA...if you make donuts and you sell them for $1.00 each, you add on 16% when you give your customer his bill....it works just like a sales tax...in essence it is a Federal Sales tax.
