Phoenix, Arizona, April 15, 2016. Incumbent U.S. Senator John McCain is locked in a dead heat with Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick as both receive 42 percent of a test vote taken statewide in April. This leaves only 16 percent undecided as of the time of this survey, compared to 25 percent in January.
It also appears that at least one traditional voting pattern is changing in Arizona. For many years, rural voters have tended to lean Republican in most races, but in 2016 Kirkpatrick is outpolling McCain by 43 to 39 percent in the states rural counties in a modest but important pattern we have noticed since January.

Voters have to stop voting for , Older Than Dirt candidates
Be careful AZ. Kirkpatrick (D) is left of Hillary and bumping into Sanders out there in left field. McCain has other opponents who are true Republicans.
Yeah, are we supposed to be pleased that they are going to replace a sitting dim senator with a dim nooby?
I would love to see “Maverick, the flying clown show” go down.
My point is that this is a nothing story. Until the primary is over the polls mean nothing. If McShamey loses what difference does this poll make? Focus on what’s in front of you. That thing down the road might be a mirage
All because we plain dislike (McStain) McCain.
As a rural Arizonian it boggles my mind as well. I can only say he plays to the Phoenix and Tucson crowds well enough to win the game, then goes "blue" once the elections are over and the general populace is too stupid to notice.
Agreed in a way - but keep in mind, every election McCain’s tune changes. You have a decorated veteran who plays that up while swearing he’ll root out DC corruption and protect our borders.
Its only in the last 6 years that the Tea Party rose and the last 2-4 that people have started to recognize the disconnect between the DC version of elected GOPers and the election cycle version of GOPers.
I share the fear of others on this thread re the Cochranization of the AZ primary; will be interesting to see. I think a Ward/McCain poll is far more relevant right now that Kirkpatrick/McCain.
There isn’t any chance a Dem. will beat him in AZ. Unless somebody beats him in a Primary, he will be reelected.
“The fact they reelected raul grijalva is even worse.”
He’s down in Nogales del Norte (aka Tucscon). The other crap hole city in AZ.
Juan McDemocrat is a Democrat in every last sense of the slur.
Have you not been paying attention the last 12 years?
“Why not focus on him losing in his primary!”
They are focused on his primary a recent polls showed him losing to Keli Ward. He is a deadman walking! Good ridence!
His gerrymandered district runs all the way from south Tucson to parts of Yuma. BTW Yuma voted to get rid of him but was overwhelmed with the Nogales del Norte vote.
I am totally aware of Juan McNasty disgusting record. I prefer to see him replaced with a Tea Party Conservative, not a liberal Democrat who will help give the Democrats control of key committees and the agenda.
Blame Sun City.......
I'm 84, and I think I could do a better job of being a Senator than McCain does.
