The Joe Paterno statue was removed Sunday morning from its pedestal outside Beaver Stadium, and it will be stored in an unnamed "secure location," Penn State president Rodney Erickson announced. Erickson also said the Paterno name will remain on the university's library.

That’s right, I live in PA myself, and didn’t think for a second he was referring to the actual Joe Paterno...didn’t even realize there was a debate about that until I read it on here...I swear the anti Trump folks just hang on his every word waiting to be able to twist something.

Where were all these people when Obama was running???

It’s been on my local news in PA several times recently, news watch 16 and others, it might not have been as prevalent in national news though. Either way, I immediately new what he meant...I highly doubt he was intending on resurrecting Joes body and performing some sort of Frankenstein experiment on it.

Actually, why am I even talking about this, it’s such a ridiculous conversation to be having when we have much bigger issues in this country...

The Democrats won a couple of elections in this state including the governorship because of the angered Penn State-Joe Paterno fans......

The question answers itself. Not that you didn’t already know that.

I think you have it backwards. His statue was taken down for reasons of traditional American values. Now that LGBTQ has won, the reasons it was taken down don’t make sense to our society any more.

Paterno was not a dumb man. He knew what happened in 1998. He knew that man who could have the top job at almost any program in the country, or could have waited to take over Penn State, didn’t just suddenly decide to retire, so he could wander around the campus. Come on. Paterno was not stupid.

It’s not a big news story in PA. It simply isn’t. Anyone telling you it is, is full of baloney.

So Sad!!!!

Joe was a great man. I never like his coaching as he was not a good strategist, but as a human being Joe was one of impeccable integrity. I was a professor at Penn State many years and observed him benching starting line up players when they were needed for a big game as it was the right thing to do. This attack on Joe is ridiculous.

Joe, who’s team had the highest GPA and graduation rate in the Division. He cared about people...

Attorney general Tom Corbett who started this investigation and then as governor was automatically on the BOD of Penn State were he became judge and jury has a lot of karma for his actions.

He should have stayed as the attorney for the garbage haulers where he fought to keep dumping New York City’s garbage in Pennsylvania. (Google NYC waste management and organized crime!!!)

By WILL BUNCH, POSTED: June 29, 2011
IN THE REALITY-BASED world, there’s not much confusion about how Gov. Corbett spent most of his time between the end of a fill-in gig as Pennsylvania attorney general in 1997 and his 2004 run for that job.

For four years, Corbett worked as an attorney and spokesman for the nation’s largest trash-hauling and disposal firm, Waste Management Inc., in which he advocated for his employer to dump massive amounts of out-of-state garbage in Pennsylvania.

But now that Corbett is governor, his official state biography tells a different story.

His stint flacking for Waste Management has been tossed down what writer George Orwell famously called “the memory hole.” Instead, Corbett’s years in the private sector are described in a way that would cause a casual reader to infer that Corbett started a law practice in 1997 that in fact didn’t exist until five years later.

“I covered a 14-state region, Maine to Michigan to Virginia,” Corbett testified. “Dealt with regulatory agencies within those states, primarily Pennsylvania and Virginia, and also with legislative issues. And managed the lobbyists that had been hired by the preceding . . . entities.”

Donnie Liberal’s idiocy was on full display on multiple levels:

a) You are in PITTSBURG, MORON! They hatr Penn State there.

b) Paterno facilitated the rape of young boys by looking the other way while Sandusky used his program to commit the rapes. Trump is pro child rape. No surprise since he joked about “dating” his own daughter.

c) Paterno is dead.

d) There is as good a chance of bringing Paterno’s rotting corpse back from the grave to coach Penn State as there is to bring the lost manufacturing jobs he spoke of back to Pittsburgh. Big Labor KILLED those jobs with the help of Big Government. They are not coming back.

e) He blames free trade and China for the loss of CONSTRUCTION jobs???

I’ll repeat what I said on another related (not a duplicate) thread:

I grew up in PA (south central) and never understood the near-idolization given to that man. I always thought he looked kind of creepy, could never figure out why. When it became clear he was at least complicent with Sandusky’s evil then I knew my instinct about the man was correct.

So you all can debate about whether Trump meant bringing “Joe Pa” back from the dead, or restoring his statue on campus, or even bringing his “spirit” back to PA it’s all irrelevant. The man was a jerk to cover for his assistant coach like he did. Period! He deserves no such adulation and respect!

Just goes to show to me again what character Trump has quite frankly.

Go ahead flame away, as you desperately try to justify your idolizations of either or both men.

Sadly, promising to rehabilitate JoePa will likely earn him more votes in Pennsylvania than sending all the illegals home AND canceling NAFTA combined.

On a day-to-day basis, it’s a big nothing including now.

Over the past 3 years, there have been dozens of stories about returning the statue.

The point is that Pennsylvanians knew what Trump was speaking about, the return of the Paterno statue.

But morons in the media and here on FR will jump on his statement as if he was talking about raising Paterno from the dead. They’re nuts.

Oh what did he say then?

Repeat EVERY WORD he said and check it on the video. There are THREE phrases.

Because morons have already edited what he said exactly.

I know EXACTLy what he said. But let’s see what you think he said, all THREE phrases.

Waiting.

Paterno had a lot of people who liked him across the land. He was an icon to many.

Just because you think lowly of him doesn’t change the fact that many more thought highly of him. And his fans are not stupid people.

Right. A guy who lives on the other side of the country is telling a native Pennsylvanian and current resident what all "Pennsylvanians knew."

Rubbish.

Nobody had any idea what he was talking about, especially in Pittsburgh, which is not Penn State country at all.
