He’s trying to gin up the impression of momentum in his favor. More power to him, but I think he’d make a better impression overall, if he’d temper the claims a bit, and be judicious about delivering that section of his speech in a venue that won’t get much play, and isn’t really receptive to him anyway. He could have showed/claimed competence and less braggadocio. He isn’t going to win any converts in that room, not by claiming to have all the momentum.
