Eagle Forum Press Release

The Board of Eagle Forum, a 501(c)(4) corporation, held a Board meeting in accordance with and pursuant to the Eagle Forum By-Laws and Illinois State Law at 2 pm CDT on April 11, 2016.

Pursuant to the By-Laws, Eagle Forum First Vice President, Eunie Smith, presided over the meeting. Eagle Forum Founder, Mrs. Phyllis Schlafly, the Chairman of the Board, was present during the entire meeting, including expressing herself on all seven votes. In Schlafly’s opening statement she said she has spent her life building Eagle Forum as a unique organization of volunteers. She also said that paid staff cannot order volunteers around. Mrs. Smith said, “The purpose of the meeting was to ensure that Eagle Forum will continue long into the future as a viable force for all the causes we have addressed in the past, for God, family and country.”

The Board of Eagle Forum voted to remove Mr. Ed Martin as President of the corporation; effective immediately. Mrs. Eunie Smith is serving as President until a new President is elected pursuant to the Eagle Forum By-Laws. Mrs. Smith appointed Eagle Forum Board Vice Chairman, Anne Schlafly Cori, daughter of Phyllis Schlafly, as Executive Director of Eagle Forum. Anne Schlafly Cori has worked with our state organizations and worked alongside Phyllis for some time.

Anne Schlafly Cori said, “I am honored and excited to be working with our wonderful state volunteer leaders from across the country. We are continuing the incredible legacy of our Founder Phyllis Schlafly.”

Dr. Shirley Curry was directed to lead a Search Committee for a new president of Eagle Forum.

Perhaps you’d be interested to know that Pastor Rafael Cruz attended Eagle Forum of California State Conference 2015, as a guest speaker - along with Ann Cori and many of the other Board members who are part of the Gang of 6.

In Pastor Cruz’s 45 minute speech, which can be found on youtube: https://youtu.be/dciUfbaJxRw

He talks about “The Witness of Scripture” and cites The Bible telling us clearly who to vote for.

He says we have a “responsibility to elect righteous leaders” : “Let’s not be politically correct. Let’s be Biblically correct!”

He encourages Eagle Forum attendees to “preach messages on biblical principles relevant to our society”
1. Traditional family
2. Sexual purity b/f marriage
3. Sanctity of life
+more.

The discussion on this tread seemed to be headed to discussing whether Schlafley's Eagle Forum was being wrestled away from her.

Earlier in the day, there was a thread where Phyllis had asked her daughter and five (possibly six) other to resign. This was undoubtedly due to their attempt to counter her support for Donald Trump.

If the head of the board has been removed and these six (7?) remain, then I'd say the Eagle Forum has been taken out of Phyllis control on behalf of Ted Cruz.

Folks can read the other thread here. LINK

I’ll trust your assessment on Ed Martin because you seem to know a lot about him.

<< his need to hand EF to Trump was part of his downfall >>

I appreciate your acknowledging that it DID have to do with Eagle Forum being handed to Trump.

Thanks for being honest.

Usually the only candidates EF would endorse were people who actually took the time to read and understand the RNC party platform.

That is why the endorsement of Trump was so troubling because he never showed any interest in a document that EF spent a tremendous time helping to write.

This was not a Cruz vs. Trump issue but rather a power struggle by Ed Martin.

Ed Martin made this issue public.

-- If Eagle Forum for God and family is going to start taking on that Cruz tactical strategy from the pit of Hell, they shall have lost face with many Christian women who happen to be for TRUMP. --

They won't have the same strategic motivation. Their primary function is to extract money from donors, and that is trivially easy. See TEA Party organizations taken over by party insiders and hucksters.

All organizations go through changes. See National Review. Eagle Forum is going through the same sort of evolution.

Eagle Forum has been very open about its support for Cruz. Whatever risk that carries with Trump supporters was already baked in.

Eagle Forum was never handed to Trump. Eagle Forum was always for Cruz.

Phyllis Schlafley took a position in favor of Trump, and against the preference of Eagle Forum. Eagle Forum would fire her, too, if it could.

If they turn against Phyllis, then Eagle Forum is garbage.

Phyliss has made comments on the public record also, as well as Mr. Martin.

I appreciate the influence of EF on the party platform, but candidates read it to use for campaign fodder and thereafter it pretty much collects dust with them.

I am inclined to believe in every case, if we follow the money, we find the answers.

Trump wins with votes, Cruz wins with insider tactics.

You Cruz guys can rant and rave all you want, but is the crucial difference.

From what she said earlier today, they tried to get rid of her. Maybe only because she went public, did they stop before it got out of hand and the women were shamed & embarrassed b/c they couldn’t lie their ways out.

Sounds like they negotiated an agreement that Ed Martin would go—and Phyllis would stay.

For now.

It seems “the company” has two parts. I think the board got all it could get. There was no negotiation, it was a power play. The women on the board are lying now.

In listening to and reading MANY interviews with her as recently as last week, in no way does she sound feeble, more sense than a lot of ppl we hear from.

So the argument from her Board, that she’s been manipulated into supporting Trump - seems false. She’s on the record many times explaining why, and she is lucid every time.

As I said earlier, this is pushback from the Republicans (elites) who told the Board to get Phyllis in line, or watch their “success” disappear. No more $$, no traveling to conferences, no appearances, hobnobbing with the VIPs, etc. Who would they be, then, if no longer EF big shots?

(and sell outs.)

I’m with you on this one. Regardless of Ed Martin’s involvement, it’s pretty clear the Board does not want Phyllis endorsing Trump.

Slyfox, earlier in this thread—did admit that Ed Martin was forced out because the Board “believed” he manipulated Phyllis into supporting Trump.

I really hope this is not the end of it. I’d like people across the country, to understand what’s going on here—

and why the blacklist created by Cruz’s GFF, matters.

There will be other people on that list, who become targets - all to benefit Cruz. Or so ppl think.

It's natural in the cycle of life that organizations too go through phases. who would have thought, 30 years ago, that National Review would be what it is today? eagle Forum is no different. No organization is immune to be co-oped, and the devil is a sweet talker to boot, the most attractive and tempting message you can imagine.

It is also natural that good, honest an innocent people are hurt and sacrificed and suffer losses they don't deserve.

I'd like people to understand too, but I've been around long enough to realize "that ain't going to happen."

Just looked at the Eagle Forum site, http://www.eagleforum.org/, and it looks as if Phyllis Schlafly is pretty much the face of the EF.

Tony Tarantino has a beef going with his son, Jon Voight is on the outs with his daughter, so Phyllis shouldn’t feel alone on this. Luckily, the worst thing we can say about Donald Trump’s kids is that a couple of them forgot to change their voter registration! ;-)

One of the things I didn’t mention earlier, but probably should in fairness to all sides:

Ed Martin called out Phyllis’s daughter Ann based on a “rumor”, and this most likely contributed to ppl saying he doesn’t have PS’s best interests at heart (although the original argument was that he forced her to support Trump). Ed wrote on Eagle Forum, FB:

Rumor: That an Eagle Forum board member and a leader of the rogue TakeoverTeam, is married to a former board member of a Missouri Planned Parenthood chapter?
The Eagle Forum board member is Anne Cori, Phyllis Schlafly’s daughter.

Her husband Tom Cori is a former PP board member.

The law firm is reportedly Spencer Fane LLC which has current active ties to Planned Parenthood.

Is all this drama driven by In-Law Revenge?

Ohh good grief, sometimes the adults need to stand in.

Lets take a look back in history. 2002 Alabama...

During the campaign, actor and National Rifle Association president Charlton Heston came to Alabama to campaign for Republican congressional candidates. While in the state, Heston released a written statement endorsing Siegelman, despite the fact that Riley had made a point of being seen in public with Heston. Spokesmen for both Riley and the Alabama Republican Party issued statements insinuating that Siegelman had taken advantage of Heston’s recently diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease to secure the endorsement. After a firestorm of criticism from the NRA and editorial pages, the Republican spokesmen apologized to Heston, but not to Siegelman.

There is a reason Mrs. Phyllis Schlafly has two of her own flesh and blood on the board. Not to stab her in the back but to protect her. At 91 sometimes people do take advantage of you.
