[2011] Donald Trump did not vote in a primary election for 21 years (from 2011)

He's talking about running the country, but Donald Trump's record on voting in elections, or rather the lack of it, is coming under fire.

The New York City Board of Elections says Mr Trump did not vote in any primary elections for 21 years.

The registered Republican, who has been touting himself as a prospective presidential candidate, would first need to get GOP voters to nominate him in a primary - a process in which official records show Trump repeatedly failed to participate in.

Mr Trump became a Democrat in 2001, and documents show he ignored that party's primaries as well, missing the 2001 and 2005 primaries for mayor.

In 2002, not only did Mr Trump miss the Democratic primaries for statewide offices, but records show he also skipped the general election, the AP reports.

There is also no evidence that Trump voted in the presidential primary between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, even though he voiced support for Mr Obama after Mrs Clinton took New York State.

New York votes so late in the process that it hasn’t been a legitimate contest since possibly the Seventies or earlier. Why vote in the primaries if their is no question of the outcome?

How many of you Trumpsters out there were registered democrats in 2001 like Mr. Trump, which presumes you voted for Algore in 2000?

I know it’s a personal question, but interesting nonetheless.

I wonder how many of those 19 years New Yorker’s votes actually played a part.

With much smaller fields, the decisions may already have been made in many of them.

Our vote never counts in the nomination. This year it likely will, but it’s the first time in decades where it has.

I vote because there are other candidates and issues on the ballot.

I used to vote for every Republican I could. This may be the last year I do that. I’m that fed up right now.

I know I was not.

Trump is anti-establishment and everything your government hates.

Support whatever you want.

But you’re not running for president as a republican, and probably haven’t donated to democrats for decades.

Primary is all but over by the time NY, NJ, PA roll around. This is the first time ever since I have been voting that voting in the primary in this area will matter for the GOP.

You are a government hack.

You need direction and apply an approvement meter to your idea of political life.

Take your pension and enjoy it while kids starve.

He didn’t JUST decide to run. He’s been toying with running for President for 30 years

So you’re OK with all the “conservative republicans” we helped elect who went to DC and fell in with the left?

So it doesn’t matter that a first-time GOP presidential candidate was not active in political or conservative activity as recently as 10 years ago?

Would you go to a doctor who never attended medical school?

So you were a democrat in 2001.

Just admit it. It will liberate you. But I won’t hold that against you. I don’t think you’re running for the GOP presidential nomination.
