Ted Cruz delegate-wrangling operation outclassing Trump
American Thinker ^ | 04/09/2016 | Rick Moran

Ted Cruz's delegate-hunting operation is running rings around Donald Trump's team, and he's making gains because of it.

In North Dakota last weekend and Colorado this weekend, Cruz's team is out-hustling and outmanuevering Donald Trump, probably picking up a majority of unbound and "uncommitted" delegates in both states.

Fox News:

While Donald Trump still holds the delegate lead in the GOP presidential primary race, his Achilles heel has been a perceived weakness in his ground game. Seeking to capitalize on this, Cruz has outmaneuvered Trump lately in the behind-the-scenes battle for delegates in places that don't assign them through traditional primaries or caucuses.

Enter states like North Dakota, and now Colorado.

Both eschewed traditional primary elections and instead held conventions -- where delegates not necessarily bound to any candidate are selected. Cruz saw this as an opportunity anyway to get allies elected to the slate, banking on their support in the event of an open convention.

The candidate, after picking up more likely delegate allies than Trump in last weekend's North Dakota convention, has been on a roll in Colorado.

Thirty-four delegates are at stake in the convention process, and the Cruz campaign told Fox News on Friday afternoon it has picked up 15 delegates so far in a series of local GOP meetings. The process culminates Saturday at the state convention where a final 13 delegates will be selected.

In Colorado, delegates can pledge themselves to a candidate or run unbound. Those who do pledge only do so for the first round of voting at the convention in Cleveland. The Cruz campaign says the pro-Cruz delegates selected so far are a mix of pledged and unbound but say they will back Cruz in Cleveland.

You should start to think for yourself instead of getting talking points from the Cruz campaign.

Romney, McCain, Dole, Bush, et al. got majorities only because people dropped out when it became clear they couldn't win, and THEN the leader was able to get a majority because there was no one opposing them in the late primaries and they got all the delegates. But had 2 or 3 people stayed in to the bitter end, the way they are doing it this time, then all of them could have been denied majorities.

Don't you get that? It's not hard. It's math.

Oh yeah. Thank goodness we have you here to educate us.

Keep it up. All you’re doing is helping Hillary. But then again, you’re the one that knows how it works so you already know that.

That statement makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, in the context of Trump now learning that he has to protect his delegates and gain the support of uncommitted delegates. What in the world are you trying to say anyway, aside from a senseless nasty dig?

I'm "trying" to say that Trump isn't giving it his best shot because in his heart he knows that he's in this for Hillary.

YES, Sailed, hit the reef 20 miles out on the edge of the shelf, torn the hull open, traversed into the dark deep of Davey Jone’s locker... and settled nicely on the bottom with a big treasure box filled with Goldman Sachs IOU’s.

My first thought as well. Class? Being the super sneaky little insider, using insider tools to stop Trump, yea - real class act.

It’s so beyond Cruz and the cruzettes cheering him on - it’s the filthy scummy GOPe team that is using Teddy the tool and people are falling for this bs.

Sigh

He's simply telling you that you won.

When they have no substantive argument and little knowledge of facts, economics, electoral process, etc., they start calling you names and throw out accusations and ungrammatical rants.

You won!!

Never before has a Republican nominee attempted to over rule the will of the majority of a states electorates wishes in a primary.

Actually, republican candidates have in contested races tried to take uncommitted delegates, even to the extent of a second place finisher trying to pass the top candidate from a state. Ronald Reagan did it (but didn't win) in 1976.

There are many stories on the 1976 convention, as one example, and most of them are more or less true and some are online. Reagan and Ford were both trying to take uncommitted delegates from states won by the other.

Trump never visited Colorado (too busy in his home state). What can you expect. Besides Manafart already announced his work is to CHANGE MINDS at the delegate level.
Trump does not know how to do that-he does not speak on their level.
