Fallout: Donald Trump Will Fall 50-100 Delegates Short of 1,237 Needed to Clinch Nomination
Breitbart.com ^ | 6 Apr 2016 | Mike Flynn & Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 04/07/2016 6:10:31 AM PDT by Rockitz

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’s overwhelming victory in Wisconsin on Tuesday makes it all but impossible for GOP frontrunner Donald Trump to win the 1,237 delegates he needs to secure the nomination ahead of the RNC convention in Cleveland.

Trump currently leads the GOP field with 743 delegates. He would need to win 58.9 percent of the remaining pledged delegates to obtain the simple majority necessary.

A number of the states remaining award delegates proportionally. The bulk of delegates in one critical upcoming state, Pennsylvania, aren’t officially bound to any candidate. The fight for California’s massive 172 delegates will be fought largely in each of the state’s 54 Congressional Districts.

As a result, Breitbart News estimates that Donald Trump will end the primary portion of the nomination fight with 1164 delegates, 74 short of the 1,237 delegates necessary to win the nomination on the first ballot. This estimate assumes Trump’s performance in upcoming contests is consistent with the results prior to Wisconsin.

In other words, it is a static estimate, assuming no great change in the trajectory, tone, or focus of the campaigns. It isn’t based on any future missteps, like those experienced by the Trump campaign ahead of the Wisconsin primary. Our assumption is, in many respects, the most optimistic for the Trump campaign. Because of this, it underscores the steep challenge Donald Trump faces heading into the 4th Quarter of the primary season.

Not illegal. Would be illegal if offered in exchange for votes in an election.

Example of illegality. Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle handing out cigarettes and blankets to encourage Indian voters on reservations at election.

Another example of illegality. Southern Democrat (e.g. Bill Clinton) walking around money handed out to black leaders to distribute as part of getting out the black vote on election day.

You don't seem to get it. Trump's words are not "stoking" people to commit violence and disrupt his campaign events. The paid Leftists are the ones "stoking" the violence and encouraging violent behavior against Trump. It is all orchestrated. The Dems love it.

Clinton's reaction to BLM today shows how they react to any disruption of their events. Clinton put the blame on the right people, something the Reps are afraid to do. Cruz and Kasich should be ashamed of themselves for their comments on these violent demonstrators trying to disrupt Trump events. The Reps should stand as one in reaction to the protestors. Cruz is getting just a little taste now. Should he get the nomination, he will get the full dose.

“If Trump falls short of 1237 why can’t Cruz cut deals with Kasich and Rubio to get their delegates?”

Because it won’t take him over the 1237. Trump is still going to be the leader.

That said if Cruz can do it more power to him. That is a fair fight.

Hmmmm. With Ted's ground game, he could easily get it on the 2nd ballot. The Donald is NOT gonna be happy.

Trump would then be wise to run 3rd party and ensure Ted Cruz loses in November. Deny the delegate leader the victory and payback's a b!tch.

Please try to remember Trump has to get to 1237 delegates before there is any possibility of anything being stolen from him.

Only in the RNC are losers, winners.

Terd Snuz is a despicable politician that does not deserve to be rewarded with a nomination.

At one point, Terd was my #2 guy. Now, I'll NEVER vote for the guy.

I'll write in a name before going with Terd.

Actually there is no difference between Hillary and Trump, I wonder what Hillary’s answer would be if you asked her what the 3 most important functions of the federal gov. are? I’m willing to bet her answer would sound a lot more like Trumps than it would Cruz’s.

Trump would do something about immigration.

Cruz and Hillary will not.

You think Hillary would list security as the top 3 functions of the Federal Government?

With Hillary, abortion is the top 3 functions of the government.

No offence but that is nothing more than your opinion, i really don’t have any idea what Trumps plan is at this time, do you have any idea at what speed the return turnstiles will be operating at “to let the good ones back in?

Trump has a plan on his web site. I've read through it. Ted Cruz also has a plan on his web site which is longer and has more details.

Ted's association with CFR, the North American Union and Goldman Sachs tells me his plan is nothing but window dressing to win over the voters. No chance a significant, meaningful portion of his plan gets implemented. We'd be lucky if we were simply able to deport the criminal aliens.

Immigration hasn't been central to Cruz's campaign like Trump.

In fact, I'm not sure what Cruz's focus would be on as President. He talks about the Constitution all well and good, but he doesn't talk about the kitchen table issues that Trump supporters eat up.

Cruz is like listening to a real smart professor while Trump is like listening to your good hearted but 'colorful' Uncle. Both men have issues and sadly I think we've missed an outstanding oppportunity for these guys to team up and destroy the establishment wing of both parties.

by the by, I believe that even on the first ballot, there are 150 already unbound delegates voting. These numbers show Donald 73 short. If he takes half of those 150, he still wins on the first ballot.

I could be wrong on that ... but I believe 150 enter the first ballot unbound and unaccounted for by previously awarded delegates. That would mean 1237 is the number that guarantees first ballot victory, but not necessary for first ballot victory.
