A mysterious planet that wiped out life on Earth millions of years ago could do it again, according to a top space scientist.
And some believe the apocalyptic event could happen as early as this month.
Planet Nine a new planet discovered at the edge of the solar system in January has triggered comet showers that bomb the Earths surface, killing all life, says Daniel Whitmire, of the University of Louisiana.
The astrophysicist says the planet has a 20,000-year orbit around the sun and, at its closest to us, it knocks asteroids and comets toward Earth.
Fossil evidence has suggested most life on Earth is mysteriously wiped out every 26 million to 27 million years.

Eugene.
I wonder if my bank will believe it if I use it as an excuse to stop sending them my mortgage payments.......
And a bottle of Bushmills 10 year old Single Malt.
I know a gentleman Space Scientist who's married to a lady Space Scientist.
Someone has to be the best of the lousiest and the lousiest of the best.
Roust out you mushers, we’re burning bandwidth!
Yes, but the taxpayer funded grants that sustain his livelihood are expiring this month.
“Pardon the intrusion, a one-time ping to all who’ve posted in this topic...”
Guess I’d better make that house payment after all. No Aruba for me.
Good points, both of you. However taking Mausa’s math as correct, if the last time this “Planet Nine” was 200 AU’s from the Sun, it knocked (via its gravity of course) a comet or asteroid on our way to us, such a killer could indeed be only weeks away. This is because the scientist in the article believes it is at that distance (200 AU’s) where Planet Nine may knock a Kiaper Belt object towards us.
The real math would involve determining when Planet Nine was last at perogee with respect to the Sun. Then, from those dates, determining when we are in the most danger of being hit by a rogue body sent by that planet by adding 23.7 years to the last date Planet Nine was at 200 AU’s from the Sun (and thus in the Kaiper Belt region).
I assume that’s what the “some” described in the article did when predicting our doom “as soon as this month”. Who knows though.
Thanks for the info.
Guess we’ll no have time to settle, once and for all, whether or not Yngvi really was a louse or not.
;’)
My pleasure!
Hi -
I wasn’t familiar with Bronson Beta until your post had me look it up and learn it’s a reference to the 1930’s sci-fi book: When Worlds Collide.
That said, what is meant regarding the 14 days til?
BTW: I didn’t read this Planet X article because the hype puts me off. If there really was a planet heading toward us, legitimate astronomers would come forward with evidence.
Major collisions with Satan and Allah’s destructive forces are far more an existential threat to our world.
RE: “14 days until Bronson Beta...”
In the When World Collide movie, the crews building the escape ships were urged on by daily announcements of how many days until the collision with Bronson Alpha, and the ‘drop dead’ date for the launch to Bronson Beta.
That, along with showing the today’s pages of the count down calendar was a cinematic device to show days, weeks and months of frantic work in a few minutes of film time.
The broken graphic was a movie poster.
Thanks for the link with more Yellowstone volcanic threat detail.
I still say leftist and Muslim madness poses our Greatest threat.
