Ted Cruz Declares Wisconsin A Turning Point In The GOP Campaign
By Sean Sullivan and Philip Rucker April 5
MILWAUKEE Ted Cruz rolled to a landslide victory Tuesday in Wisconsins hotly contested Republican presidential primary, capitalizing on a difficult stretch for Donald Trump to cut into the front-runners overall delegate lead and deliver a psychological blow to the billionaire mogul.
Though the senator from Texas is reviled by many party leaders for his explosive and polarizing brand of politics, Cruz won over establishment Republicans as well as grass-roots conservative activists across this state who had come together in an urgent push to stop Trump. Late returns showed him leading Trump by a wide margin.
Cruz hopes his Wisconsin win transforms the trajectory of the race. Wisconsin adds a important Midwestern bellwether to the basket of mostly Southern or rural states he has won to date, giving the Texan evidence that he can appeal beyond ultra-conservative and religious voters.
Savoring his biggest night since winning the kickoff Iowa caucuses in February, Cruz declared before cheering supporters here in Milwaukee: Tonight is a turning point. It is a rallying cry. It is a call from the hardworking men and women of Wisconsin to the people of America: We have a choice a real choice.
Trump remains in a favorable position nationally, but Cruz now has fresh momentum heading into future contests and Tuesdays results increase the possibility that the nomination battle spills onto the floor of the partys July convention in Cleveland

Bubba, it just don’t get any more enjoyable than to watch people who are going into the political woodchipper, run towards it on their own.
If ted wins... it always turns out... he lost in the long run... sad, but true for him.
:-)
Cruz 48% Trump 35% 3836 out of 3852 precincts reporting

Here in PA we’ve had in infusion of 90,000 new GOP registrations. The Dems got 60,000 new ones so I strongly suspect a Trump ‘bump’ in a state where the Dems have a big edge in registration.
Actually Ted’s benefiting a lot from Open primaries right now. I’ve seen numerous case of Hillery voters crossing over to vote for Cruz of late. They know which candidate they want to face in the GE.
Glad someone is up on the math.
Thanks Ray
-—The only other option is a Trump/Cruz ticket, with Cruz as VP. that might still be a possibility and will allow for Cruz fans to see their favorite win the presidency in 4 years.

I am not a Cruz fan, main reason is I don’t think he is eligible. BUT, if there was a Trump/Cruz ticket, I would support it.
Here is my reasoning. If Cruz gets the nom, the packed D courts are going to crucify him (or try to), in which case, he could get eliminated, and there would be lost momentum, and the election given to Hillary as the GOP stick in Romney or Ryan as the candidate.
But, if Cruz is on for VP, the dems can throw whatever they want at him, if he is found to be disqualified by birth, it’s just a matter of picking a new running mate.
If Cruz makes it through the process of VP vetting by the courts (and don’t say this has been settled Cruzers, it hasn’t even been heard, all that has been heard is his eligibility to be on a primary ballot in several states, and remember a cat got on a mayoral ballot in some town a couple years back), then he will be clear to take over as POTUS after 4 years (which all Trump says he will do).
It destroys the GOP as we know it, and I’m all for that.
Bernie is doing his best to destroy the D machine players, the least we can do is do our part as well.
Teddy the TOOL
I long for the cruzettes to explain to us why Teddy the TOOL needs no bullet proof vest, doesn’t need to carry for protection, doesn’t require 12+ SS...oh wait, could it be because he poses NO problem for the power brokers who run this nation?!
And Teddy the TOOL is laid bare for all to see.
Took 2 million in negative ads, and a showing of Ryan and Reince to prop up Teddy the TOOL.
Sorry you guys are so attached to the way the country is going, nothing will change IF Teddy the TOOL were to succeed.
Cruz = amnesty
bwwwahahaha! Good one
So fitting for a Teddy the TOOL supporter to say.
Yep, she is gorgeous and intelligent - and it eats you up.
He'll do that at the convention, but first things first...
If Cruz goes into the convention with fewer votes and delegates than Trump, but comes out as the nominee, most Americans are going to consider him an illegitimate usurper of the people’s will.
They’re not going to give a damn about the party rules. They’re going to care more about the fact that Cruz couldn’t gather sufficient support from the people to win fair and square, but was given the crown by his party.
If you think the voters are going to be hunky dory with such a fundamentally unfair outcome, you’re dead wrong. It’ll be the end of the Republicans as a major party, if that’s the outcome of the convention.
the best turning point money can buy.
or
the best turning point money can buy.
There is but one unqualified braggart: Trump.
.
Cruz will definitely out-draw Trump in NY.
.
Cruz’ platform: Keep America Free.
Trump’s platform: Keep America in the pocket of big money.
(he thinks that is ‘great’)
.
Another FReeper brought that to my attention. I had tried to be rather judicious in my building of my map model.
I have updated it to reflect the Maine win by Cruz.
I didn’t say this to the other person, but Maine’s delegates are a paltry addition, even though you are correct about the additional state.
This was the guy that was going to clean up in the South.
.
Cruz has proven himself a strong, unyielding leader.
He also conquered his attackers and their false “scandals.”
(especially those orchestrated by Trump, the 69 YO spoiled brat.
