Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said he is "95 percent" sure he would pick a veteran politician for vice president if elected.
He said he would choose somebody that can walk into the Senate and whos been friendly with these guys for 25 years, and people for 25 years and can get things done" in an extensive interview with The Washington Post published Saturday.
So I would 95 percent see myself picking a political person, as opposed to somebody from the outside," he said.
How about Allen West?
Newt’s about as “popular” beyond his base as is Trump ... and, Newt was in the House, not Senate. I think he was hinting at Sessions, perhaps? Sessions is as mellow, but effective, as Trump is bombastic and effective. Newt would be a PERFECT Chief of Staff in a Trump White House. Don’t see him for VP. Then, again, The Donald is always full of surprises.
For now we just have to worry about getting past the RNC shenanigans. I’d like to think that after August of this year, I could still vote Republican.
sorry, my last post was for thread in general
I’ve said for a while that his best bet is a highly regarded, out-of-office GOP politician (governor or senator) from a must-win swing state. This insulates the ticket from the stink of an association with the current GOP.
Tom Cotton is a favorite of Hugh Hewitt and the Sea Island Republicans. NOT a good sign.
Except that the party always accepts the choice that the presidential candidate makes for VP. Usually unanimously. Rinse was saying that they would even fight to have their own GOPe VP instead of one chosen by the presidential nominee. In case you are less than 12, I'll psssssssstttt you in on a little secret: That is not done.
Dumbest post of the day.
First of all, Trump has more money than he can count. He has no PACs. He has rejected millions.
Second, no one has enough money to pay off Trump.
Third, Trump realizes he doesn't have the knowledge to navigate Washington, DC and this is why he wants a seasoned politician as VP.
Finally, whoever he picks, has to be young enough to last one term as VP and two terms as President.
“Tom Cotton attended one of these Elites strategy meetings to figure out how to stop Trump (was it the meeting on the island? There were several that week so I get them confused.)
Either way, if he participated in it, he’s gone over to the dark side. “
Tom Cotton was present at Sea Island.
Radio show host
Leave us not forget his falling for global warming.
Didn’t The Donald suggest Newt as Chief of Staff?
That won’t work! :-)
lol
face it Paul Ryan supporter, Trump can buy every delegate at that convention if he wanted to.
For instance, Newt Gingrich is 72 years old. If he were VP and wanted to run for the Presidency, he would be 76. If he were to stay in office for two terms, he'd be in his mid 80s.
(Quite frankly, Newt would be an excellent Chief of Staff. He's smart, seasoned, Trump respects him, and Newt could steer Trump through the DC bullshi'ite to accomplish his mandates.)
That's one way to get Sasse to support the Trump ticket!
Go TRUMP Go!
“former Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina.”
hmm... 5 years younger than Jeff Sessions.. that might work.
agree.
