In case you hadn’t noticed, they’ve been doing that for quite a while as a means of block-busting exclusive neighborhoods.

They want to boost Section 6 housing?

Yes. And besides that, demand that all communities and all new construction includes low-income options. They want to keep putting folks in smaller boxes, and they want to determine what and where those boxes are.

I would think it is the handiwork of lobbyists from the various Home Builders Associations, National Home Builders Associations, or the likes cashing in on their large campaign donations (bribes) to some nameless politician(s).

I have friends as elderly as my wife, and myself (actually a little older) who recently downsized into just such a scenario as described in this article. They already have to leap through hoops in California due property tax laws that make it difficult for them to actually live peacefully in their new lifestyle, and now this on the horizon.

The government is not just trying to expand Section 8, but many municipalities are trying to pass ordinances against “income discrimination” to force landlords to accept it.
Fortunately, saying you can’t refuse to count Section 8 vouchers or welfare or SSDI as income as of yet CANNOT be used to force landlords to sign up for the program.
In short, they can pass ordinances that state you can’t refuse Section 8 vouchers, but they cannot as of yet force you to sign up and jump through hoops as a program member to get approved.
