Clean sweep for Cruz in early stages of Colorado delegate hunt
CNN ^ | 4/2/2016 | Robert Yoon

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz picked up six delegates in Colorado on Saturday, shutting out Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich on the opening day of the state's complicated delegate selection process, the state GOP said.

Cruz supporters won all the delegate slots in the state's 1st and 6th congressional districts, representing the Denver and Aurora areas. Delegates from the state's five other districts will be selected on Thursday and Friday.

Cruz won’t be the GOP candidate. It is time for him to stand down, and start working WITH Donald to beat Hillary.

He can't do that...He's one of them...They can't do that...If Hillary wins they are all safe...If Trump wins, their future and fortunes look bleak...

The Democrat Party is not the enemy of the GOPe...We the people are...

Oh okay. So you mean he needs the GOP/RNC so he can cheat like Cruz/Kasich? I hope you are proud of that comment. Shame on you.

Parties are not democracies. They make their own rules. If you’re not a member of a party, you really shouldn’t get a say in who that party nominates. Would a Methodist church pick a preacher for the Baptists down the street?

Not a proper analogy...The proper analogy would be: Can a Methodist church pick a Baptist preacher to lead it's congregation...

The question then is: who is the Methodist church or the Republican Party??? Is it the leadership or the members???

In our time the Republican Party is/are those who have the wealth to buy power...It is the globalists who own the politicians who of course create policy for the Country...It is a little kingdom of wealthy, powerful people...Most constituents including FReepers don't even know what they are up to...

We the people/constituents like to think we are actually a part of the Party and this Party works for our best interest when in fact they work for themselves...We the constituents are outsiders...

So when you say it's their Party they can do what they want, make up their own rules you are correct...

That's where the Trump 'movement' comes in...We are determined to remove those rich, powerful anti-American globalists and return the Party back to the people and OUR chosen Representatives in Congress...We are determined to eliminate their rules that only benefits those who control the 'Party'...

So while you want to go along and get along with those elites and their rules when they don't represent you at all we will carry the torch for a Candidate who can lead a change and actually represent you and us and everyone...

The Republican Party should be a Party of the people, not the rich elite...

Has anyone noticed Cruz no longer refers to the "DC Cartel?"

Salient point...Cruz has been forced to come out of the shadows...For the longest time Cruz was Trumps best friend...Cruz agreed with Trump on everything...His goal was to outsmart and out appeal to those people who might be attracted to Trump...

When it was apparent he was failing miserably Cruz changed his tune and the GOPe storm troopers were revealed and released...All of a sudden the whole force of his DC Cartel are his backers...And his mouthpiece has become Carli Fiorina who agrees with absolutely everything the Cartel represents and worse and everything the phoney Cruz was supposedly fighting against...

Would you rather we support a candidate that doesn’t see the need to ask forgiveness and then attacks other candidate’s faith and conversion experiences?

Absolutely...God will work on him if Christians pray for him...This election is about the sovereignty of our Country, not someone's religions views...We can't focus on these single issues when the future of our country is at stake...

No delusional beclowed conman will I vote for. Ever. Period.

Sure you will if you vote for Cruz...The Con-Party ran 16 contenders to split the votes convinced their man Bush would ultimately come out as the winner with Rubio in the VP spot...They failed miserably due to D. Trump...They got stuck with the black sheep of their Party but he's still one of their sheep...

They'll now temporarily back him til they get rid of Trump (if they can)...

I want to win too, but I’ll be damned if it is at the cost of my liberty and belief structure. I will not support baby killing. I will not support homosexual marriage. I will not support the economy killing import tariffs and ensuing trade wars. I will not support universal, government paid healthcare. I will not support the governmental theft of private land from one individual to another. I will not support these radical liberal ideologies just so I can claim I “won”.

Trump does not support baby killing...The Republican Senate does support baby killing...

Ensuing trade wars??? We are in a trade war already...And we're losing to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars per year...And with TPP that Cruz and the Republican Congress support it will go to well over a trillion dollars a year...Trump is a supporter of free trade but fair trade...

You won't support universal healthcare??? Neither will Trump...But the Republican congress does...They love Obamacare and have no intention of removing it...

You don't support the homosexual agenda??? Neither does Trump...The Republican congress however does support the homosexual agenda...

You stand for lower taxes??? So does Trump...He's got the best tax plan out there...The Republican won't touch the current tax plan or the IRS...They are in cahoots with each other...

You stand for the Constitution??? All of us here on FR do...Cruz lies and tells the public that Trump is anti-2nd Amendment...Trump is stronger on the 2nd than Cruz or anyone else is...Trump is pro Constitution, 100%...

Our future’s only hope is constitutional conservatism, and those on this conservative board who have abandoned it, have abandoned our nation in our darkest hour.

No one on this board has abandoned the Constitution...But we recognize the Republican congress does not support Constitutional conservatism...And we recognize Ted Cruz has been completely unsuccessful in doing much of anything in Congress except making a lot of noise...We also recognize these unConstitutional unconservatives are now 100% behind Cruz..

I noticed you did not mention illegal immigration or muzlim terrorists...Apparently they are no concern of yours...Or Jobs to boost our economy...

Your ideals are commendable but you've picked the wrong guy to work toward those ideals...

I don’t care who you vote for as long as it is the people who vote not some cliche of men who decide who wins or loses. Sounds like our government is more like the Kremlin than a republic where We the People can have a choice in our representatives.

I can love you as a fellow American regardless of your candidate, but not those who are okay with a group of hacks taking the choice away from the people. If I believed that I would be Dem favoring Hillary and my sons would not have been raised to believe in serving and protecting our “freedoms”.

Cruz shut Trump and Kasich out in Colorado!!!

Hillary is that much closer to the WH!!!!

Funny how some folks see impending disaster as reason to celebrate because the tornado is still a few minutes away...and it looks OK for now....

What offends me is anyone who accepts the right to elect our political representatives being taken from the people and given to a small select group. Third world or reminiscent of the Kremlin.

I don’t care who you support. I care that it isn’t the people in this case. One of my sons is a disabled vet who thought as did we that he was serving and protecting our freedoms including the right to vote. Appears not everyone cares. So I will say no more and ask God to forgive me for what I think of those who think voting by the people is not the American way.

And for the smart ass who wants to say ultimately the electoral college elects, I am 67 and well aware of the procedure but I used to believe we had a say in the process.

Mmmno, it is over for Cruz.

If you think that he’s going to reverse a 30 point deficit in NY, not to mention NJ and CA, then you’re insane. Trump could disappear and he wouldn’t be able to change that.

And if you think that the establishment is going to let him have the nom at a contested convention, you’re also insane, considering that they’ve already trumpeted loud and clear that’s what they’re going to do.

And all the insults on FR aren’t going to change that.

Agree. The current process is a mess, and has been for some time.

You incorrectly infer that I’m in league with “those elites.” No. I’m merely seeing the situation as it is. The nominating process, as currently practiced in both parties, is vastly different than the general election. The former is not an open game, but rather one that is subject to its own rules and rulers. The general, however, should be where everyone has an equal voice.

To gripe about the internal workings of a party machine when you haven’t ( like I haven’t) earned a position of influence in the party apparatus is silly. Do stockholders demand to sit in the boardroom and pout if their wish isn’t granted?

Take the party over from the inside. I would argue that is what happened post-Vietnam, leaving the Ddms saddled with the likes of Anderson, McCarthy, McGovern.

Or start a new party that more accurately reflects your beliefs and whose rules you can make. It has been done before. With the level of dissatisfaction so high right now, it is likely to succeed.

But not 7 months before an election; rather a month post-election. This cycle, you must either dance to the music offered or stay at home and be a party pooper (and, I would argue, forfeit the right to gripe about the outcome). Time to form new band before the next shindig.

No presidential poll in Colorado was all about party apparatus being in control. A caucus poll favoring Trump would be inconvenient. Hence no poll and total control.

The delegate and rules are out there. Each state party determines how the delegates are assigned.

My state elects 3 delegates in each Congressional District caucus at the state convention. The at-large delegates are selected by the Nominations Committee at the convention, but have to be approved by the full body of the convention. All delegates are bound to vote for a particular candidate on the 1st ballot based on the primary vote in each congressional district and statewide.

Texas Delegate Selection Process to Republican National Convention

Trump's team should be aware of the process for each state and should be actively working to get their delegates selected.

Didn't Trump recently hire a "delegate wrangler"?

Anyway, I've been following presidential elections for nearly 40 years and this is the first time I've heard of the term "delegate wrangler." Then again, there have been many "firsts" in this election cycle.

Sounds like a marketing term from a celebrity salesman. I have a suspicion that Trump didn't think this out. It will take a team effort to secure the nomination and that dwarfs in comparison to what it will take to run the country.

I did a search for "delegate wrangler and came up with this article from the 2012 election.

Apparently Romney had 300 "delegate wranglers" working for him.

God will work on him

If you were a premarital counselor for your church, would you give that advice to a prospective bride?

Trump isn't the only candidate that will defend U.S. Sovereignty. Cruz even has a record in taking on the Bush Administration in winning Medellin vs. Texas in keeping the International Court from overriding our death penalty sentences.
