Glad things are going well.
Things are going well enough back here in the States. I think everyone’s antsy for Spring to come and STAY. This warm-cold-warm-cold stuff stinks. Right nippy in TN today.

Haven’t made it to Savannah yet but am glad to hear that rain finally moved out. That was a soggy night for our lil birds.
Watching Decorah at the moment and what a buffet they have laid out on the nest! There’s enough to feed an army of eaglets. LOL

CLASSICAL MUSIC FOR JUST CHILLIN OUTTonight Im posting pieces for just veging out. Close your eyes and listen.
ELGAR: QUINTET FOR PIANO & STRINGS IN A MINOR, OP. 84, ADAGIOEdward Elgar was conflicted about World War I. The Germans were the first to appreciate his music, but he was a patriotic Englishman, so that was that! This piece was written in 1919, and its shadowed by the late war; the second movement in E Major is an elegy to the war dead. The middle section contains a passage of inconsolable grief (5:42) in which all the tears of the world are aggregated. Elgar had this movement played at his funeral.

SCHUBERT: IMPROMPTU IN F MINOR, D. 935/1Frannies gift was to be able to make time stop. If you close your eyes in the middle sections where he shifts to the major keys, you can feel yourself float.
This is Andras Schiff from over a decade ago. He doesnt look anything like this now; hes aged rapidly. I had the privilege of hearing him in Vancouver (BC) a few months ago playing the final sonatas of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. Watch the left-over-right crossovers!

CLASSICAL MUSIC FOR JUST CHILLIN OUT
PUCCINI: MADAME BUTTERFLY, ONE FINE DAY HE WILL RETURNHow about chilling and having a good cry at the same time? This is one of the most astonishing and famous things that Jack Puccini ever wrote. Like Andrew Lloyd Webber, Puccini decided in his later years to be parsimonious with his musical material, concentrating on one commercial hit per opera.
This opera is based on a play by American playwright David Belasco, one of Jacks favorite literary sources. Puccini would later turn Belascos The Girl of the Golden West into an opera. Whiskey por tutti! Madame Butterfly is the story of an American naval officer who takes up with a fifteen year old Japanese girl as his mistress. She bears his child and expects him to return after sea duty to marry her, but she gets a rude surprise when he comes back with his American wife! In the latest Metropolitan Opera production, the girl commits seppuku in front of her son, which in the Japanese tradition is the final slap to the father. Its best not to mess with a culture you dont understand! Have your handkerchief ready.

CLASSICAL MUSIC FOR JUST CHILLIN OUT
SAINT-SAENS: PIANO CONCERTO #2 IN G MINOR, OP. 22, ALLEGRO SCHERZANDOIts pronounced SAN saanz. Yes, his first name was Camille. This concerto starts with a slow movement, ends with a tarantella, and the second movement is a light-fingered scherzo. The central section was a favorite of Gershwins, who labeled it a Parisian in Paris.

You haven’t seen the movie? I think it starred Nancy Kwan but I could be mistaken about that.
