The Danger of a Runaway Antarctica
New York Madwoman ^ | 4/1/16 | Editors

Here are some disturbing things we have learned since December, when the nations of the world reached a landmark agreement in Paris to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

In January, scientists reported that 2015 was by far the hottest year on record, and another record could be set this year.

In February, a Princeton-based research organization said the tidal flooding that has already made life miserable for people in coastal cities like Miami and Charleston is getting steadily worse.

In mid-March, a group of experts, including James Hansen, the retired scientist who first brought the perils of climate change to Congress’s attention in 1988, warned that shifts in climate could be sudden and abrupt, giving humanity little time to prepare for flooding, severe droughts and other upheavals.

Now comes another scary prediction: If carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels continue unabated, the vast West Antarctic ice sheet could begin to disintegrate, causing the sea to rise by five to six feet by the end of the century, destroying coastal cities and low-lying island nations and creating environmental devastation within the lifetimes of children born today.

Wake me up when the global warming projections get close to what the earth actually warmed up to from about the 500 year period beginning in 850 a.d.

The vikings stopped pillaging Europe, founded colonies in Iceland, Greenland and what is now Newfoundland, planted grape arbors, raised large herds of dairy cattle and experienced the good life until temperatures reverted to more or less normal patterns and ushered in the Little Ice Age.

There are no credible accounts of global cities being flooded or islands sinking beneath the oceans.

Glowbull worming is actually a good thing.

The molten iron core generates our protective magnetic shield. If the core cools and solidifies our shield collapses and the solar wind blows our atmosphere away.

2015 was easily one of the coldest years for which we have reliable records.

And the expanding ice at Antarctica sliding off into the ocean changes nothing WRT ocean levels.

Soon the whole southern ocean will be solid ice, and one will be able to walk from Africa to America.

“Pay attention!! Anyone who support the global warming mantra is a “scientist”. Anyone who opposes is a “denier”. That, apparently, in the MSM writing style guide.”

This is why I am pro choice. Libs hate it. I say I am pro choice and I choose life. I am pro choice and I choose realist. My opponent on the other hand must take the opposite position and to me that is loon.

“by far” the hottest year ever...

First Ever is a long time, and it has been “hotter” many many times including way way hotter

Secondly, even if you believe all of the fake adjustments that year after year seem to make post 70’s temperature a little warmer, and pre 70’s temperature a little colder, even with all that adjustment the “by far” hottest temperature is a few hundredths of a degree like (0.01 or 0.02) degrees which we can barely measure accurately in lab conditions much less planet wide with crude instruments irregularly spaced across mountains and deserts and oceans. They are violating high school physics significant figures just by publishing these numbers to 2 significant figures when they are probably not even accurate to even 1 or even 5 degrees.

Not only do they repeat their opinions, they are altering historical climate data from the 1970 and earlier to show the warming trend and adjusting data from other parts of the world today that don’t show the urban heat island effect to match what the models say.
The Climate Research Unit in East Anglia discussed this plus the fudge factor they put in models to show the future = hot, past = cold trend.

Here is a short article about what is really happening. It’s the earth’s magnetic field that is getting weaker. The so called scientists are pushing the oil consumption in order to gain credibility for themselves, and Al Gore found a way to make money off of the hysteria that they have created.

Remember the Russian ‘research’ ship that went down there to bask in the tropical warmth?

It somehow dropped out of the news when it got crushed by the ice and turned into a monument.

The average annual temperature of the Antarctic is approx. -47 F.

If the temperature there should rise so high that the Antarctic started melting, something would have knocked us out of orbit and we'd probably be on a collision course with the sun

... Antarctic started melting

LOL, no kidding. The Antarctic is made of volcanic rock - it melts at about 1000 degrees C!

But yeah I knew what you meant, and you're not wrong.

There are no credible accounts of global cities being flooded or islands sinking beneath the oceans.

Not since the end of the last ice age anyway. What I want to know is, if they are soooo certain of impending climate flood doomage, where are all the dykes? Where are the sea walls? Surely there ought to be some serious flood abatement construction underway.

Why is beachfront property worldwide going for ever increasing prices when it’s due to be underwater in “a few years”? Or - why are insurance companies still writing policies on said properties? 2 and 2 aren’t adding up to 4.

Not only that, I saw a Japanese documentary about how the sea could release giant, prehistoric creatures that look like a T-Rex. These things can breath fire and have laser eyes. They will attack crowded urban centers. Yes, global warming is that bad.

That and flooding largely uninhabited areas already below sea level. Egypt's Qattara Depression alone would produce a lake as big as Lake Ontario with even more water volume capacity for a relatively nominal cost of constructing a 60 mile or so long canal to the Mediterranean Sea.

And it is only one of many such candidates to contain rising sea levels if we really have a problem here.

Just for giggles, Google "Qattara Depression, Free Republic" just to see the number of such articles discussed on this forum alone.
