It does not matter if the five year old drama queen is correct on the issue. It is hugely unpopular and if it is advocated as part of a political campaign, that person is toast. That is why all you say is Roe v Wade is the law of the land and move on. The drama queen really can’t defend pro life anyway, since he was in favor of abortion for most of his life.

IN the meantime, many states are passing laws with regard to this issue. Trump said nothing wrong - it was a hypothetical question, and the operative word was illegal. You have nailed it. The right to life movement appears to be more concerned with politics than the law and morality.
The President and the Congress and the right to life movement can talk all they want and raise money all they want, but the only way that the law will be changed is by nominating the correct Supreme Court Justices.
A leader leads, and not by following popular opinion, that's what the country hungers for, a leader, and that's why Trump is the front runner and will no doubt remain the front runner to your obvious chagrin and the nonstop cacophony of Trump-hating shrill voices.

Call it PC all you want, but any candidate who wants to punish the mother will not win any political contest in America. The people on this site used to be politically savy, but not anymore.
The fact is there are some issues so settled that one can't wade in the issue without drowning. Punishing the mother is a political nuclear button promising to bring the drama queen down.
It is completely unnecessary, too, because there is not a thing Trump can do about abortion. Even if the SC overturns Roe v Wade and sends it back to the states, there is still nothing Trump can do about it, so why invite unnecessary controversy when there are other things he can influence and accomplish.
Trump is already loathed by most women. My sister who is 60, has never voted for a democrat all her life, is prepared to vote against him in November because she doesn't want him near the White House. The worship and adulation of Trump is not universal and there are many tens of millions of voters he needs to convince if he wants to be president. I work at a large company in a liberal area and I know not one female who will vote for him and this includes persuadables...people who do vote republican from time to time. Because of this, Trump needs to say that "Roe v Wade is the law of the land" and move on. Matthews set a trap for him on this question. Matthews knew what he was doing and Trump walked right into it.

This issue of punishing the mother is not a profile in courage. Any candidate for any race in American who advocates punishing the mother loses the race. It is that nuclear of an issue. If you wish for Trump to advocate this issue, include it in the platform of the party and make ads about to demonstrate his fearless nature, be my guest. If he does, you will never see Trump as president, which I'm OK with, so please proceed.
The author brings up a good point, there are women sitting in jail right now for abortions they performed on themselves using drugs or other methods...so it make total sense in thay regard.
