Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef has faced a public backlash after saying that according to Jewish law some non-Jews should be forbidden to live in Israel.
According to Jewish law, its forbidden for a non-Jew to live in the Land of Israel unless he has accepted the seven Noahide laws, Rabbi Yosef said during his weekly Saturday lecture on March 26.
Non-Jews who fail to live by the seven Noahide laws should be expelled to Saudi Arabia, he added.
If hes not willing to accept one of them, [which is] not to commit suicide, if hes not willing to accept this, you send him to Saudi Arabia, Yosef said.
The seven Laws of Noah include prohibitions against idolatry, blaspheming God, murder, illicit sexual relations, stealing and eating a limb of a live animal. It also prescribes the establishment of a legal system that would ensure obedience to the law.
If a non-Jew stays in Israel, he has to serve the Jews, the Rabbi said.
Who will be the servers? Who will be our assistants? Therefore, we leave them here in the land, he said.
However, following a wave public outrage, Yosef had to backtrack on his comments. He explained that his words had nothing to do with todays world as he had been referring to the days of the messiah.
These laws are theoretical, [and] refer to fulfilling the seven Noahide Laws in the days of the messiah, and have no connection to the present day, he wrote, adding that he has always adopted a peaceful and embracing path.
Its clear that theres no law in our time, God forbid, to expel non-Jews from Israel, he concluded.
This is not the first time Chief Rabbi Yosef has found himself in hot water over his comments. Earlier this month he said that Israelis should not be afraid to kill terrorists armed with knives.
He said that it is not practical now, but he would like to limit the right to live in Israel to people who are Jewish and also to people who follow the seven Noahide laws, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Laws_of_Noah
According to Wikipedia, the seven Noahide laws are the following:
The seven Noahide laws as traditionally enumerated are:
Do not deny God.
Do not blaspheme God.
Do not murder.
Do not engage in illicit sexual relations.
Do not steal.
Do not eat of a live animal.
Establish courts/legal system to ensure obedience to the law.
Would that Israel could enforce this type of limitation.
No offense Rabbi, but you sound like the mohammedans and their law that non-muslims are not allowed to visit, let alone live in Mecca. IF your concern is a security issue only, I can understand it, but not being a biblical scholar, does it say anywhere in the old testament that Israel is only for the Jewish people? If so, so be it, but you’ll have a fight on your hands.
Yet the article says "Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef has faced a public backlash after saying that according to Jewish law some non-Jews should be forbidden to live in Israel. unless he has accepted the seven Noahide laws," -- this guy is not the Chief Rabbi of all Jews in Israel
And he gives a clear statement that if you follow the 7 noahcide laws you can stay as per his statement
Most religious people would naturally follow these laws -- even Hindus and Buddhists. Athiests don't.
How do those seven laws prohibit a Mohammedan from staying in Israel?
His statements are historically non-controversial, if somewhat out of context. A more precise description of the prohibition of idolaters in the land is at

Headline should be changed. He is not the “Chief Rabbi of Israel”

Israel is a secular state and the Rabbinate has no control over non religious issues, any more than the head Muslim and Christian officials in Israel have.
Leaving that asice, he makes clear his comment refers to the seven Noahide Laws in the days of the Messiah, not today unless the Messiah returns.
There are two Chief Rabbis in Israel he’s one of the two, the Chief Sephardi rabbi, the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi is David Lau
Good grief, he's talking about what happens when the Messiah returns. You're right, at that time Jews don't fare well under Islam, they're all killed. Christian theology only kills most of them.
Please note he's speaking about the time of the Messiah. But if it were today, the prohibition on murder would bar some, but not all nor as a class.
He’s talking about The World to Come, not the physical land/state of Israel.
Messiah returns? Technically, he believes the Messiah hasn’t come yet.

SJackson: Good grief, he’s talking about what happens when the Messiah returns.

Olam Ha-Ba: The Messianic Age
The world after the messiah comes is often referred to in Jewish literature as Olam Ha-Ba (oh-LAHM hah-BAH), the World to Come. This term can cause some confusion, because it is also used to refer to a spiritual afterlife. In English, we commonly use the term “messianic age” to refer specifically to the time of the messiah.
Olam Ha-Ba will be characterized by the peaceful co-existence of all people (Isaiah 2:4). Hatred, intolerance and war will cease to exist. Some authorities suggest that the laws of nature will change, so that predatory beasts will no longer seek prey and agriculture will bring forth supernatural abundance (Isaiah 11:6-11:9). Others, however, say that these statements are merely an allegory for peace and prosperity.
All of the Jewish people will return from their exile among the nations to their home in Israel (Isaiah 11:11-12; Jeremiah 23:8; 30:3; Hosea 3:4-5). The law of the Jubilee will be reinstated.
In the Olam Ha-Ba, the whole world will recognize the Jewish G-d as the only true G-d, and the Jewish religion as the only true religion (Isaiah 2:3; 11:10; Micah 4:2-3; Zechariah 14:9). There will be no murder, robbery, competition or jealousy. There will be no sin (Zephaniah 3:13). Sacrifices will continue to be brought in the Temple, but these will be limited to thanksgiving offerings, because there will be no further need for expiatory offerings.

When Jesus returns the nation of Israel becomes the most powerful nation in the Millenial Kingdom. The Jews are not killed by Islam and certainly not by Christians. You seem to forget about the 144,000 and that the Jews flee to Petra and are protected by God.
In that islam was founded by a thief, pedophile and murderer, anyone associated with it would be disqualified based on the Seven Laws.
He forgets that there are non-Jewish shrines that need to have folks who live on the grounds in order to maintain them.
“Athiests don’t.”
What’s wrong with that? What if we stated that to live in the United States that rule #1 was “Do not deny political promises” and rule #2 was “Do not blaspheme the press”?
He’s not talking about the physical state/land of Israel as it exists today.
Atheism won’t exist when this happens.
