The Cruz campaign has gone on record supporting women getting abortions. The campaign says there should be no punishment for those women if abortion is illegal. Deadline Hollywood reports:
Ted Cruz campaign chairman Chad Sweet...this afternoon told CNNs Jake Tapper that Cruz believes in punishment for doctors who perform abortions, not the women who get them.
Pro-life supporters are scratching their heads. If they succeed in getting a pro-life amendment, Ted Cruz appears to be saying that the amendment should contain some kind of non-culpability clause, so that Congress can write any law resulting from a Life Amendment in a manner that allows women to have abortions in this country with no worries about the law.
In fact, since Cruz thinks only doctors should be punished, if a nurse or other type of provider performs the abortion, then the odd situation of a Life Amendment with abortions still being performed will be the result. The bottom line is that Ted Cruz has no problem with women having abortions.
One has to wonder sometimes about lawyers.
Sure, but how is Kevin Bacon connected?
I could come out and say that reasonable people could argue that women might not necessarily be prosecuted for having abortions...........and be called a libtard.
Why then do we arrest people who use drugs, and not just the people that manufacture and sell them?
If there are women who want abortions, there will be people who supply abortions for profit, will there not?
Are not the women party to murder?
Cruz don’t need no stinking laws
In that case, Cruz won’t do anything to illegals coming into the country illegally. Same premise. Cruz is a fraud big time.
Aaaaannnd, the unartful Donald agree. LOL.
John-boy, your emotions are getting the best of you again.
Get some rest, take two aspirin, and call me in the morning.
A couple of conservative principles that deserve a hearing, are the principles that laws have to be both passable (by legislature) and enforceable (by the police powers of the state.)
A proposed law that finds aborting women guilty of homicide, is guaranteed neither passable nor enforceable.
In practical fact, pre-Roe vs Wade, prosecutions of abortionists were usually triggered by the appearance of an injured abortion client in the ER. Her testimony was usually the key to obtaining a conviction.
I dont think any abortionist will ever be convicted - ever - if the woman is not seen, in law and in practice, as a co-victim rather than a perp.
I just don’t agree with that. It doesn’t make any sense to believe that abortion is murder, but that there should be no penalty. Imho, as with any other crime, there may be mitigating circumstances, but that is up to a jury. Women are not children. Holding a women less responsible for the murder of her unborn child than for any other crime against persons makes no sense at all.
It surprises me that Cruz would be less supportive of life than Trump.
HOw many years in the state Pen do you think women should get?? Hum?

For a “retired” military chaplain, you seem to have a loose connection (at best) with the truth.
Not buying your premise. You’re supposed to put VANITY in the title too. Waiting for obligatory cruzbot slam. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
More like “The America Train”
“What kind of punishment should we give women who have abortions? THAT is the question.”
What kind of punishment should we give women that kill their three year old child?
So, at best, neither Trump nor Cruz are ‘winners’ on this issue. Given the recent history of Republican candidates I think expecting one candidate to be a winner on every issue is asking a lot. On this issue it’s a tie. We could argue about it all day long and it wouldn’t change what the candidates believe.
Not the statement I would have made but smarter than trumps by far.
The person performing the abortion is a murderer. The person who pays for it and the person who allows it to occur are accomplices in my view.
To me, it’s up to the state to determine what’s done with them.
Of course. As are the fathers that fund them. But thats a different topic. No matter how you want to twist this, Cruz did not come out in favor of abortion. Thats simply not what he said.
