Trump just said what most pro lifers believe, that abortion is murder and murder is illegal.
Indeed, prolifers believe that abortion is murder. But it doesn't follow that the mother is the murderer. There are often extenuating circumstances, external pressure, etc.
Any punishment for abortion should fall primarily on the person who performs it and on anyone who assists in procuring it or coerces the mother.
