Not a Trump supporter, but kudos to him if he said this. Infanticide is punishable. Why no punishment if the killing takes place a month or two earlier?

Looking back on traditional practice, it was treated as relatively minor infraction on the part of the woman, as the act seemed so illogical as to be imagined more crazy than criminal.
Governments tend to deal in sticks rather than carrots. However this is where a robust social support network for troubled mothers, anchored in private arrangements such as church, could really be helpful.
An all-Caesar solution isn’t a solution. We need to get religion back, and not just the kind that says you’re going to hell, but the kind that shows you what heaven is.

This kind of thing goes without saying. If something is outlawed, there obviously have to be sanctions in place for violators.

In fact, if abortion were to be made illegal, not only the woman who breaks the law by having it done, the abortionist is also punished....
Upholding this law (if it is ever made) is no different than upholding the law against illegal entry into the United States..

The only other tack of sanction is to make it a civil matter and treat it as insanity would be treated.

“How about you?” Matthews asked.
“I would say it’s a very serious problem and it’s a problem we have to decide on. Are you going to send them to jail?” Trump said.
“I’m asking you,” Matthews said.
“I am pro-life,” Trump said. Asked how a ban would actually work, Trump said, “Well, you go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places but we have to ban it,” Trump said.
Matthews then pressed Trump on whether he believes there should be punishment for abortion if it were illegal
“There has to be some form of punishment,” Trump said. “For the woman?” Matthews asked. “Yeah,” Trump said, nodding.
Trump said the punishment would “have to be determined.”
His good friends at PP are gonna be pissed. Melania will probably make his hair sleep on the sofa.
