The National Enquirer story that alleges Ted Cruz had extramarital affairs with five women is a "festering boil" that could sink the Texas senator's presidential bid unless takes immediate legal action to discredit it, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay tells Newsmax TV. "I think if he would sue The Enquirer right now, it would put the story to bed," DeLay, a Texas Republican, said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."
Cruz has angrily denied any truth to the Enquirer report and charges that Republican presidential front-runner is behind it an allegation Trump strongly denies.
"He needs to get a hold of some people that know how to handle this kind of thing because this is so typical of politicians. They just wish that the story would go away," DeLay said.

Tom Delay. I wonder if he’s throwing in for Trump. I would make him Attorney General or IRS commissioner and just let him have at the Democrats.

It would be a hoot if someone hacked the sound system at the next Cruz rally and put in the Eagles'
Lyin' Eyes.
OK, granted that in that song, it's the girl cheating, but still...

The way that your post was written it gave the impression that someone could make false written statements here on Free Republic about a person in the public eye with no fear of being sued.

Cruz will not because he is guilty.
To: Bob434
I don’t care if he is or isn’t. I didn’t like him way before this stuff.

That would be why I prefaced it all with “assuming Cruz knows he’s not guilty”. Not advisable for those who are guilty, like Sen. Hart, who expected a pass for being Kennedy-esque.
To: proust
Beck and Cruz are both hipocrates. (sp) If Beck wants to “preach” on forgiveness perhaps he should ask Cruz to forgive Trump for spreading the story. I don’t believe it’s true but even if it is Cruz should say “I forgive you, Donald. I was so angry at your comment about my wife that I lost it for a few days.”

Yep, any way we look at it, there’s no case. Yet other Repub politicians are calling for Cruz to sue. Surely they know there’s no case, so maybe they want to make Cruz look as if he’s lying?

Someone needs to redo that bubble with a new caption ...
"This vast Trump-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband..."
To: longfellowsmuse
You sound really, really, really, worried Cruz has been a ‘ b a d ‘ boy.

I do? Have you read my posts? I have said I don’t like either candidate. It bothers me that so many Trump supporters are happy that a family might be broken apart by adultery. It also bothers me that they are slandering a man based on an article in the National Enquirer, when his opponent is guilty of the same behavior.
I live in a very late primary state so I really don’t have a dog in this fight.
To: longfellowsmuse
You are bamibg us for a family breaking apart, Cruz IS the only one responsible for his actions!!! He went out there LIED to his supporters about being a devout Christian and you blame us because he is a LIAR!!!

IF there has been adultery it is 100% Cruz's fault... that is unless Heidie was also playing around. IT is totally liberal, cow pasture steaming piles to project this any differently. Ted wants to be president, and he acts like he is on a mission directly from GOD... and comes off with the arrogance of an entitled liberal.. Maybe that is exactly what he is. I have heard him lie repeatedly, so it is NO stretch to think he also is entitled to be bjClinton repeat... Cruz sure talks like old bjClinton...

Just wow...I don’t like Trump as a presidential candidate but I don’t hate him personally. I don’t like Cruz for president either, but I don’t hate him, but then again I am not looking for a political messiah. I think that Trump would be better than Hillary or Bernie. I truly believe that the hope for our country comes not from a white knight on a political horse but within ourselves to treat each other well and turn back to our founding principles including turning back to God. I’m sorry if you think that’s dumb.
