BREAKING: Nathan Deal will veto Georgia’s ‘religious liberty’ bill
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 3/28/16 | Greg Bluestein

Gov. Nathan Deal said he will veto the “religious liberty” bill that triggered a wave of criticism from gay rights groups and business leaders and presented him with one of the most consequential challenges he’s faced since his election to Georgia’s top office.

The measure “doesn’t reflect the character of our state or the character of its people,” the governor said Monday in prepared remarks. He said state legislators should leave freedom of religion and freedom of speech to the U.S. Constitution.

The death of traitors is a lesson and a virtue upon itself.

I listened to his speech and didn’t like his condescending tone toward Christians.
He said he didn’t like being threatened —well he was threatened—that’s why he vetoed. Bullied by Coca-Cola, NFL and the Deviant Dregs of Hollywood.
Of course, money always seals the deal.
Carmel colored belly-wash, NFL Thug Ball, Hollywood remakes and comic book character reruns.
Conservatives need to stop supporting entities that hate everything we believe in and stand for.

I hope some Georgia voters contact the Governor’s office to complain...Let him know that there are many people who are upset with his decision...I would complain to his office if I lived in Georgia...

This governor never caved. He was never in the game. He did not want this. How much money does he collect personally? How much was he bought and paid for?

He did not want this therefore he got what he wanted.

The base voters are tossed aside AGAIN!

He is saying that he believes gay demands trump the freedom of religion

EXACTLY!!! Courts everywhere have adopted the mindset that homosexual (there, fixed it) rights shall always take precedence over religious rights.

Voting for the GOP doesn’t change anything for the better putting social issues aside the folks like Paul Ryan talk about a balanced budget ten years down the road

So giving the dems the presidency and supermajorities in both houses will be better? Because that iw what your desired "total death and obliteration of the GOP" represents.

Give them 4 years, or even 2, of that kind of total control. Are you hoping that the result is blowing the whole thing up and starting over? A second civil war or second revolution?

I’d expect nothing less from a Chamber of Commerce GOP-e RINO like Nathan Deal.

At least he’s term limited and can’t run again.

My dad use to say (God rest his Soul) that Sherman could March through Atlanta today and he would not harm one real Southerner. In fact, he would be doing us a favor.

Please....no more scaring us into voting GOP. It’s almost as old as the Dems crying “Racism!”, “Homophobia!” and the like.

A Second Civil War or Revolution will never happen because there are not enough citizens who care enough. The only thing that will remain is a minoroty of disgruntled Conservatives.

I liken our nation to 1st century Rome. The decline will be slow (almost imperceptibly slow). Voting with one’s feet is an option for some, but not for all. Where would a group of Pilgrims (looking for religious freedom) go today?

This is what is killing the south and our way of life. All these damned Yankees leave the north because they don’t like how their screw-ups have screwed-up their way of life up there and come down here and repeat the same stupid mistakes and do the same stupid things to the south. Florida is nothing more than a retirement center for the NE part of the country. Danged near everyone in Fla speaks with a yankee accent. If you don’t like how things are up there don’t come down here and repeat them. North Carolina is nothing more than the liberals coming there and turning it into another mess just like NY already is. Stay up there, we don’t need your crap. If you REALLY want to escape that liberal mess and come here and be a conservative, then come on. But don’t come here and start your liberal crap.

The way that bill was written was bad. Does not mean I agree with deal beyond that statement. Bad laws should not be signed into law

It was not a bad law. It didn’t have much teeth, but it was still highly symbolic. I wish nothing but the worst for Nathan Deal - payback is a bee-yotch. Just ask Alabama’s Governor Bentley.

I don’t promote violence but resistance of some sort beyond politics must be considered.

My preference is non-violent civil disobedience but anger runs strong in our bloodstreams right now.

A new political party has always been on the table for me along the lines of UKIP in the UK.

I just happen to be registered Republican right now.

Republican and Democrat politics is a dead end because the politicians of both are bought and paid for the business and banking elites doing their bidding all the way on Obamacare, the TARP bailout of 2008 etc. etc.

I guess I’m surprised - I thought Georgia would tell everyone to butt out. Would the legislature over ride Deal?

No override. Not enough votes in the House, which is led by the ultimate RINO. He could win election in San Francisco.
