Ted Cruz has been accused of having at least five mistresses, including CNN anchor and former Cruz employee Amanda Carpenter. The media claims Cruz has denied these accusations.
Cruz is lying, according to multiple trial lawyers and experts on persuasion. His lies are hard to spot, because his lies are also truthful.
Consider what Cruz said in response to the news story:
“Let me be clear this National Enquirer story is garbage. It is complete and utter lies. It is a tabloid smear and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen.”
Let’s look at what Cruz did not say. Cruz could have said, “I have never cheated on my wife.” Why didn’t he?
Consider the oath witnesses take before testifying. “I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” Isn’t that redundant?
Ted Cruz is accused of having had an affair with five women. He could say, “That’s a lie. I did not have five mistresses.” If Cruz did have one mistress, then he’d have told the truth (he didn’t have five) but not the whole truth (he had one).

I think the main thing is that Trump never, ever, claimed to be holier-than-thou, but Cruz did — over, and over, and over again.
Cruz is the one who set the bar high for himself, not Trump. Trump never claimed to be pious - Cruz did.
You might be overlooking a key part in your analysis.
Trump was not running for office when his issues happened.
Cruz is and additionally, proclaiming that he is so pure and Christian is an entirely different situation.
If you can’t recognize that, I can’t imagine you have a grasp on issues that are far more serious than this garbage.

It’s reassuring that there is someone around who knows with complete confidence what someone else will say in these circumstances. To me, a complete denial, which is what Cruz provided is better than a “I never cheated on my wife,” which is not a denial of the accusation.
This entire episode will help Cruz by making him more human, hence more sympathetic and hurt Trump by making him look like a lowlife churl.

Let me preface by saying I don’t know anything for sure, but it looks to me like SurferGirl claims to know more about the scandal, and the XtoTheY does too... and they had an agreement to trickle the information out about the hooker... but SurferGirl wanted to break their agreement and let the info out all at once, so that was the spat. XtoTheY then blocked SurferGirl from viewing their account. Etc.
It’s a little crazy, so I would just suggest that those are two accts to keep an eye on over the next few days.

I doubt that any of these women were mistress. One night stands maybe. Cruz doesn’t make enough money to keep five women at one time.
Why did he not say “I have never cheated on my wife”? The story has been around for many months and I, for one, believe that something is amiss in the Cruz household.
